About to pull the Trigger - 1.5 TSI Kodiaq SE L
That's a year's worth of fuel for some. Or a lot of hotel rooms for others. Or, or, or . . . . . . . . . Choices, choices!

Anyone have a rusty wiper spindle?
My car is falling apart before me One wiper spindle is showing significant rust, while the other looks ok. That’ll be an interesting chat with the dealer if I ever get there. Only 2,400 miles btw since March due to the Bug. But hoping to add at least a 1,000 this month.

Skoda Connect / Smartlink ?
I set it up for a play. Regretted setting a low speed limit notification just to see what happened. I was bombarded with eMails telling me the car had Exceeded Set Limit. No surprise there. The annoying thing was I could not find how to switch the notification off in the App. So I deleted the car and had to start all over again. But the whole thing is just a little gimmick that might amuse my grandchildren. Can’t believe anyone would pay Skoda to keep it. I find the meagre data for MPG and miles tends to lag behind reality and serves no purpose. I know where my car is. I know if it’s locked. I know where dealers live. I don’t need Skoda milking me dry 24 hours a day.

Kamiq Virtual cockpit configuration
mmmm. Interesting. If the dash can show the Single Dial option as per Post 1, then it should be able to show other display options, including the Double Dials with choice of central information, such as driving data. See 2 pics. With Pic 1 on show, the trip data is reset to zero by holding down RH wheel button. I reset Single data fields such as Trip distance almost every day using this technique. I can’t imagine a Kamiq has a limitation on dash options compared with other VAG virtual cockpits.

Kamiq Virtual cockpit configuration
Sorry pal. Time to RTFM. As above, choose dash display with driving data in the centre of the screen then choose Trip to be displayed then hold down the RH steering wheel button for 2 or 3 seconds. The trip Km will set to zero. Also hold down RH button to reset to zero for long term consumption and/trip consumption if you want to. But RTFM

Rear coil springs
I’m pretty sure my car has 4 springs. Don’t they all?

Auto lights issue ?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We all know about “Tyres Touching Tarmac” when we stop behind another vehicle, but you’d have to be 50 yards back to reduce the blinding glare of triple brake lights to an acceptable level.
-
Auto lights issue ?
the correct answer Took me a while with first car I had with auto brakes. Initially didn’t appreciate that the brake lamps stayed on when I stopped. Not good, especially on dark nights. So now I often engage the parking brake switch when stopped in traffic for more than a few seconds. It’s disappointing that most drivers do not understand that their brake lights are annoying the driver behind as they sit with 3 lamps blazing away.

Sportline. How do you make a telephone call?
Voice! No chance. Me and voice commands have failed miserably over several cars and several years. I will stay away from voice commands. Give me Big Knobs every day
-
Should I buy one ?
Spot on. Tell the chap on another thread who listed a hundred options and asked for opinions on spec

Sportline. How do you make a telephone call?
I can certainly receive and make calls easily to my Recent call numbers via the steering wheel button(s). But that’s because I use the Bluetooth connection for my phone. Not the nonsense full bifta Apps On The Dash set up via USB cable. Though I do power the phone through a very neat little ISB cable courtesy of dealer.

Private plate on at last
Almost 6 months after the new Kodiaq was delivered to my door in a mad rush when Lockdown kicked in late March. The VWFS department responsible for private plate swaps simply shut down for a while, so I prompted them in July for an idea of timing since they'd had my V778 for a long time. Today I received an email saying "find attached your assignment confirmation", reminding me that phone lines are still closed. Attached was a memo from Fleet Personalised Number Plate team to VW Cherished at BCA - who clearly are the ones pressing the buttons at DVLA when they have the V5 and V778 forms in front of them. I know it takes a couple of minutes. Why was I not surprised to hear anything at all, but was smart enough to interrogate the DVLA system for vehicle tax and/or MOT history - lo and behold - out with the old and in with the new plates. At last, my Kodiaq has quietly shed it's original 20 plate and is registered with my personal plate. A few minutes work saw me stick the waiting plates onto the car. Looks so much better with the horrible screwed on dealer-logo'd plates removed and my shorter plates stuck on neatly. I wonder if VWFS will get round to letting me know ps - I've rarely seen number plates drilled (butchered) and screwed on so badly.

Kodiaq Sportline 190tdi DSG-mpg??
38 true brim to brim over 3 years and 30,000 miles. Not too many silly short trips.

New Kodiaq arrived...MY21 query!
Are the left and right silver looking wheel buttons rollers or push/pull rockers? I’ve really enjoyed my roller buttons for years on 2 or 3 cars and prefer them to the rockers on our Polo and several other vehicles I’ve driven. I’ll be gutted when I can’t get a car with big rotary heater controls - the way the world is heading with iPad style dashboards.

Rear Brakes after 19000 miles - crazy price
Nah. They look fine. Normal wear and tear. Give them an occasional hammering to keep them clean. Tests the ABS at the same time.

AdBlue
I gave up trying to find a pump with AdBlue. Have previously purchased from local places like Tool Station, Euro Car Parts, et al at around £10 for 10L. But couldn’t be bothered traipsing out to get some and last month had 2x 10L dropped on my doorstep for under £18. Amazon is your friend. ps - dash warning came on yesterday at 1500 miles range, so plan to let it go below 1000 in the hope I can get the whole 10L in first time. Have never previously run so low as to empty a 10L bottle into tank.

'twas indeed my problem in 2018 and 2019.
