  1. I could be wrong, but I believe this thread was to suggest/discuss a run out VRS/Monte hybrid model.

Not keep bashing Skoda and slagging off the mk2 VRS as is being done on a lot of other threads.

Even though it's not my sort of car and I prefer the mk1, I'm not sure we need to go through that on every thread relating to the mk2.

  2. I have an early VRS with 42k on the clock i have not had a single mechanical issue. (i had some spidering on gigaro's which the dealer has rectified) Some people like diesels some people like manuals its horses for courses.

Same here no mechanical problems with my 10 plate vRS

  3.

Beyond that I have read good things on the Bilstein Dampers so given I would like to lower the car anyway I'm planning on getting the car booked in, in a fortnight to receive the B12 pro kit with Bilstein Dampers and Eibach Springs.

I thought that they didnt do a B12 kit for the vRS. Last time I spoke to DPM they said that no kit was yet available and that you would need to buy the dampers and springs separately

Just thought I would mention so that you make sure the place is putting the correct kit on for you

  4. That is why i am saying to 'Ask what is going to get done.?'

You will be getting a New Oil Filter, and new oil, and maybe a sump plug if they change the oil in the traditional way.

Washer fluid topped up, and that might be it.

Hopefully there is a look around things on the car, maybe comment on your wiper blades, & tyre tread Depth

& a visual inspection of the body work for the .Paint/corrosion warranty. & the Service book filled in.

    The Service Indicator reset.

(it might take all of 25 minutes but they want the customer to think it takes longer.)

Anything more done might be to pass the time.

Check your tyre pressures, Lube hinges etc, but that really is not part of the deal with many on an

'Oil Service.'  No Road Test or the likes,.

Maybe try to get your wheels off & checked that they come off easily.

Unless you are doing it, then the Servicing Workshops might never do it until 3 or 4 years if they even do.

If you look in the 'Minor Service' £129 in the Skoda National Pricing,

you will see, 'Pollen Filter', Diagnostic Test, Road Test, but the ** beside them,

    Wash And Vacum etc.

'Maybe with your 'Service Plan' they might do some or all now, but the Pollen Filter is not due to be done.'

Third year sevice is a minor service but they still claimed to have taken mine for a road test, although wasnt far as the odometer was only showing an extra mile or so

  5. Hi whitey I have used both Pulman in Durham and Silbury in Cramlington both gave good customer service when I have used them and, although probably doesnt matter to you good prices.

Silbury did a athird year service on my car two weeks ago and cant really fault them.

In the end you got to take into account convenience as I work 5 minutes from Silbury and Pulman are 40 minute drive away, seemed a no brainer when cost and customer sevice were practically the same.

If anyone is interested 3rd year service + brake fluid change and MOT was £212

  6. just seems strange that 90mph (an achiveable speed) is not marked but 160mph (an unachiveable speed in any skoda? is) . Surely it would be better to go 80 90 110 130 150. anyway guess its still better than my last fabia which had the important speeds of 30 50 and 70 unmarked.

I think that most vag cars have speedos marked this way not really sure why though

  7. I know, it's just it is a rather expensive piece of mind and convenience if you see what I mean :). But hey, you may lose more money doing uour car up and selling it instead of working and earning in your job sooo.

People pay alot of money for peace of mind. A number of people on here have traded in cars that are working fine because they are worried that they might break sometime in the future when the warranty has expired.

But in alot of cases they will probably lose more in depreciation on the new car than a repair might cost.

Obviously you get a new car as well of course

  8. Good photo and for me absolutely no contests - vRS any day!

I still do not understand why people go for Part Ex when for a day of cleaning and dealing with few time wasters they can earn (judging by the figures quoted here) at least £1k and if lucky £2k... Easy money in my book!

Come to think about it for that money you could buy another 2 years warranty thus increasing sellability immensly and still be a grand better off...

Its easier with part ex, trouble with private sale is its always a bit of a gamble, say if you havnt sold the car before your new one arrives and you need the cash.
