All the above is good news for those who were about to have the belt changed and no longer need to. However, it leaves me £600 worse off and with a rather bitter taste in the mouth!

I know the feeling, had it done on my L&K Yeti about a year before trading it in and at around 20,000 miles. Think total bill was around £800 with service. Just relieved my current Karoq has dodged the bullet next year!

  2. Well, this is the reply I received today;

    Škoda
Thank you for your contact, Andrew. We confirm that the cambelt interval has changed for your Skoda Karoq. Your Skoda Karoq cambelt interval is 15 years or 180 000 miles, whichever comes first.

Just a slight extension and thank goodness mine wasn't due until next year!

  3. I messaged Skoda UK on Facebook Messenger and quickly got this reply;

"Hi Andrew, thank you for contacting Škoda UK. We can confirm that the years on the cam belt have been removed. However, the retailer network is replacing cam belt base on the mileage for your vehicle. We can contact our Internal Team on Monday and find out what mileage do your vehicle need to be replaced. Can you provide us with your vehicle registration, please?"

    I'll see what Monday brings

Yep. I got mine - a black one - from RGM, who supply Skoda. I got it direct from them because it was just under a tenner cheaper than buying it from Skoda at the time.

It isn't any cheaper at the moment, sadly, but it fits properly, looks as spiffy as you like, and does exactly what it says on the tin.

    .

Thanks for that, I can go ahead now!😊

  5. You seem to be lucky it's kept going!

I had the same problem a few months ago with the N/S rear ABS sensor whilst on holiday and thought ah, I'll ignore it until I can get it fixed.

After a couple of days the car suddenly went into limp mode and then followed quite an expensive saga🥲

This part was replaced and been fine ever since, suppose I was just unlucky?

Well, after 2 years of Octavia vRS ownership I swap over to another Yeti today. A Laurin & Klement non the less. 😊

The vRS is a fantastic car, but I always yearned for another Yeti.

Although some seem to have had trouble with the sunroof leaking (forums are famed for fault reporting etc), I can say (fingers crossed!), that in over 5 years of ownership mine has not succumbed.

All I will say is I don't tend to open it as the air con does it for me and the main attraction I find is the light and airy ambiance it gives to the cabin.

It's a great car, enjoy it!

  7. Update, after a good nights sleep I woke refreshed and ready to give this effing map update another chance! I combined all your helpful hints and by some miracle it has only gone and worked!

Couldn't honestly explain what I did differently but it works whatever.

This forum certainly is a mine of information and great knowledge!

  8. Well, I have tried absolutely everything today and I'm afraid my patience has run out. I have done these updates probably half a dozen time over the years and have never had this problem previously.

I even tried the larger 8gb map version and it loaded onto the Skoda SD card with no problem and when I put the card into the unit the 'map data on card' notice came up but when NAV was selected it told me 'map database unavailable' (or something similar).

Reloaded the older version (the one I was trying to update) and it works perfectly and that is 14gb in size!

Anyway, I know when to give up and that time has come. I will probably be chopping the car in for a replacement later in the year so I will carry on with the current maps.

Thanks for all your suggestions and help.

Do you really need all those countries?
ECE 1 ECE 5 or ECE 6 depending on your needs will fit on your card and covers most nearby countries

I am only loading the smallest region but for apparently a single file on it exceeds the max size (4gb?) for the FAT 32 file system. No expert but I have done this quite a few times with no problem and the general consensus seems to be the larger 32gb card is needed possibly with a different file system (NTFS)?

  10. Hi,

Downloaded this latest update (STD_1510_E_U1_202122) for the Amundsen which I've done numerous times over the past 5 years and after doing all the same procedure as previously when I come to load it on the Skoda map SD card it says that it's too large for the destination file system. The previous maps reload onto card with no problems. Is there a way round this? I have found in the past that only the Skoda SD card accepts the maps and using a generic one comes up with no data found.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did try search but couldn't find similar problem.

  11. Update part 2

Yeti towed for 60 miles to Barnstable Skoda, AA guy had to fit their free wheeling hubs and wheel kits to rear to prevent damage to the Haldex system. Had great service from Marshalls Skoda and was back on the road a couple of days later. As thought, it was the n/s rear wheel motion sensor playing up and they fitted new and did a few software updates. The strange thing is no one seems to have had the complete lack of power I experienced accompanying the sensor failure, I suppose it was 'limp home' mode?

Anyway all in all an unforgettable experience😣

  12. Update on the ‘problem’,

Lights didn’t come at all yesterday and confidence was returning.

Went out today for a trip, lights not on at start.

After around 30miles on they came.

Heading back to the holiday home it started playing up with intermittent

    response from the throttle.

Got worse and worse until had to pull over in bus lay-by

Called the AA and after 4 hours sitting in a smelly bus shelter waved bye bye to the car aboard a trailer with suspected software fault.

Taking it to the nearest dealer able to look at it.

This dealer is some miles away and hopefully sort it before next Monday.

SWMBO not impressed so I reckon my 10 years of Yetidom may be coming to an abrupt end!

Think we’ll go for something with a longer warranty next 🤨

  13. Hi, travelling on holiday today and moments before arriving at our destination we had the dreaded bong from the dash!

    the following lights came on;

    Brake system

Power steering (although only half the little wheel icon lit)

    ASR /ABS light

    Lamp failure

    Tyre pressure warning

All a bit alarming but the car was running perfectly and chanced the last mile or so.

went back to car after leaving it stood a while and now lights are out.

Has anyone else had this happen, and if so, what was the cure?

    many thanks

  14. Yes, new badge is straight swop. It is purely held on with adhesive pad, no pins. Replaced mine on my previous Yeti. Just gently warm the old badge with a hair drier and should come off easily. Make sure the panel is clean before sticking on the new.

They have to make a profit from the deal and will be well aware of any impending costs which will have to be factored in somewhere in the deal.

That may or not be the case but they would only have to factor in what the service will cost THEM to do not what I would have to pay as a customer. Again I don't think dealers, particularly in current times, are likely to loose the sale of a brand new vehicle and the subsequent servicing etc. over a few hundred quid.

  16. I wonder how widespread the problem with the roof really is? Obviously people with a problem often use forums as their first port of call but it would be interesting to know what percentage of the many vehicles sold actually have it.

I was lead to believe checking roof, body components etc. was part of the dealer service schedule.

The only thing I have to decide now is do I get rid of the car before the 'arm and a leg' 5 year service/timing belt extravaganza in November🤔

  17. I must be lucky then, mine will be 5 years old in November and no white worm on the wheels yet, fingers crossed!

I seldom open the sunroof so this may be why I haven't had a problem but it makes the cabin a far nicer place to be and a lot nicer than my solid roofed previous Yeti which felt a little gloomy.

  18. I've had my L&K 1.4 for 4 years and have had absolutely no problems with the sun roof, and no wheel corrosion. If I'm being picky the centre 'Skoda' wheel caps have white edges now but that happened on my previous Yeti and most others I've seen. The brown seats don't bother me in the slightest and all the extra bells and whistles make it a really nice car.
