  1. Hi All With two of my doors I have to exert a VERY heavy pull to open those doors; the other two doors open easily. The doors' alignments and perimeter spacings look OK. Are there any particular adjustment s to reset the locks? Couldn't locate a helpful post, and nothing on You Tube. Any assistance appreciated to end my wife's complaining. M' tks Lojong
  2. OOPs!!! Re post on interior lights. Apologies, I forgot to mention that my MK2 Elegance was replaced a few months ago when the dual-mass flywheel became faulty that's another story. Lojong
  3. Hi to all who responded to the interior light's' switching faults. I have the same on my 14 reg Octavia 1.4 TSI SE. I am tempted to dive into the switch and clean-up/resolder connections, as accessible, but the car is under warranty as a Skoda "Approved Vehicle", so I will return the car to Skoda agent for repair and report back on any details that I can glean from he Skoda electrician. I hope that the unit will be replaced. Regards Lojong
  4. Hi Octavia drivers Another oddity with electrics: Last year I had to replace the complete NS wing mirror unit. Recently, the indicator/flasher failed and so I decided to replace it and the mirror glass too. Fitted the replacement glass without a hitch, but then I noticed that there were 2 wires from the door feeding the plug/socket - yellow and blue, furthermore, the socket's inner profile differed slightly from the new indicator/flasher's socket, thus the plug and socket would not mate = impasse! Still having the old/original faulty unit from last year, and thinking what a clever chap I am, (ha ha) I decided to cut off both new and old plugs and attach, after trial-and-error, two of the 3 wires, red, white and black from the old/original plug, by crimping, to the yellow and blue wires from the presently fitted indicator/flasher. To test the viability of this, I touched together combinations of the 5 wires, but was unable to cause the indicator to flash; this was attempted with the NS indicator switched to on and with 10 volts between the blue and yellow feed wires. Anyone still with me?! Perhaps I should just purchase yellow and blue 2 wire harness that feeds from the connector in the door panel. Any comments, kind or otherwise welcomed. Best wishes lojong
  5. Hi Skodamen and women The light from the lamps in my Octavia 2007 - 2011 has been fading for some time so, I'm looking for brighter quality H! & H7 replacements. Looking through reviews on Amazon of dozens of bulbs, I cannot decide what to buy - so many reviewers' contradictions and many disappointed reviewers. One recommendation that I came across was to cleanup the lamps' earth terminals, are these easy to locate? I look forward to any advice that will help to break my indecision and brighten my nighttime driving. Best wishes Lojong ps Perhaps this should have bee a new thread - apologies.
  6. Hi All Wretched few days spent trying to sort out my 2007 Octavia n'side wing mirror repeater. Bought a new repeater, but when separating the plug connector from the old unit, the brittle plastic plug broke. That plug will not now fit and hold securely into the new unit's socket. A new harness looks necessary !!!****. I am searching for a used item from breakers, and hope to cut and crimp it into the circuit. Any comments or advice most welcome. If I have to replace the harness, is that a difficult job? All best wishes Lojong
  7. Hi Mk 2 owners After heavy continuous rain and flooded roads, found boot well i/2 full of water - spare wheel cover and carpet soaked. After removing the pond from the boot and dried out the well, I now need to remove soggy carpet. Removed the securing pin caps in boot and under rear seat backs. However, the fitted carpet will not pull free from under the seat back; it feels trapped. Does anyone happen to know if the rear seat backs/cushions also have to be removed. If I am unable to take out the fitted carpet then I guess that I will use a heater to dry out with carpet still in place; so much water has caused the 'cardboard' support floor is badly warped. Sorry if anyone has had the same experiences but you may solve my problem. Any advice most welcome. All best wishes Lojong
