  1. I put them side by side and they appeared to be basically the exact same thing. But if the lights need calibrating then so be it. Annoyingly I don't have VCDS and I should imagine Skoda would charge a crazy amount to just run a headlight calibration.
  2. Thanks @andrehj I ordered a new Febi sensor which came today but found the sensor itself on the car was in good shape and it was just the ball joint itself which had seized up and the rod had broken. I simply unbolted the broken rod and bolted the new one on (as it was all the same length, fitment, etc) so in theory shouldn't need to do a sensor calibration? I've got the MOT retest booked in for Thursday..
  3. Well despite being a nearly 10 year old car, I remain surprised at the tech it has.. park assist, digital TV tuner, etc etc.. I was in disbelief that the tail lights were possibly self levelling but I didn't entirely want to discount it 😆
  4. Yeah I need to jack it up and have a look 🙂 even if it needs swapping it can't be a bank busting part in terms of price..
  5. Well that and the guy in Kwik Fit genuinely seemed to think it meant the tail lights, hence my sheer confusion! 🙂
  6. Nevermind. I realise now after more reading, this is referring to the level sensor on the rear of the car. I will get it sorted out! Cheers.
  7. I have just failed my MOT because apparently the rear nearside tail lamp on my late MK2 Superb Laurin & Klement saloon has failed and isn't auto levelling. I am confused as I have never even heard of this as a feature. Scanning the car with Carly shows no codes relating to the lights at all. Is this a thing? Is it a common thing? I am hunting around on Google and finding absolutely nothing about self levelling rear lights. I would appreciate any advice here as my MOT is up in 5 days 😞
  8. I realise from further reading around I'm in the wrong section as my Superb is a facelift MK2, and not a MK3 as I thought it was! So may not apply to your vehicles anyway.
  9. Sorry to bump an old thread but figured bumping old threads is better than making new ones on already covered subjects. Just had to get my Superb 3 in the air and was rather stunned when looking under the car at the amount of plastic covers and no obvious points for jacking the car. Obviously no complaints about the covers as I like that for underbody protection but... for this sort of thing it's frustrating! In the end I removed what I assumed was a jacking point cover (there was one in the same place either side) which had a soft rubber insert in it which you could push in (?!) and put a thick piece of cardboard in there and jacked up on that as when I tried on the sill itself the rubbery paint protection cover seemed to be deforming and trying to split which made me grimmace. The only mystery was that I realise upon putting the car back down there is something running around the edge of the jacking point which almost looks like a wire or similar and I'm worried I've damaged that... I also managed to break the jacking cover point and need to order a new one.. I attached the picture if someone could actually re-assure me that these are indeed jacking point covers and not for something more important! Just have to rant about this. Why aren't there just obvious jacking points, on cars, for doing this sort of thing?! It would make everyones life easier and make working on a car so much safer!
  10. I do some DIY but don't own VCDS unfortunately... I would buy it but a touch steep at £220 limited to only three cars. Appreciate it's pretty much a must have though... I come from BMW ownership more recently and INPA and DIS were essential tools. My neighbour does have a pretty decent Autel scanner so I might have to ask him if I can check it over.. it might do battery coding!
  11. So the sticker on the car does have a BEM QR code on it so.. as you say, chances it's original though I was advised again that it was always Skoda maintained...
  12. I've just bought a battery tester from Amazon which should be showing up today but I will absolutely check the age of the battery anyway just out of interest!
  13. I recently bought a L&K Superb MK3 with the 2.0 TDI engine, and manual gearbox. Admittedly the car would be a better drive if it was an automatic but I just did a drive to York and back (approx 120 miles each way) this weekend and averaged 58MPG... and whilst I did drive mostly for economy, I absolutely didn't drive it robotically so and I've no doubt 60mpg would have been achievable if I was even more steady. It's a really impressive engine honestly.. extremely smooth and refined. The only pain for me I find is if you're just slightly too early changing up (as the instrument cluster likes to nag you to do) it suddenly feels very unrefined (vibrations, flat feeling) trying to pull the car outside of the power band but as soon as the revs pass 1500RPM it's super smooth.
  14. Cheers folks.. in terms of where I bought the car it was a private sale but honestly I believe the seller was honest about the car and it's just a case of bad timing / luck.. really none of the issues seem that severe on the surface so happy to sort them. In terms of the battery.. I was contemplating buying a proper battery tester due to having a small stack of Amazon vouchers so may be useful.. I don't have access to VCDS so no easy way for me to check if stop start has been disabled...I do have Carly which was very useful on my E61 so will read up whether that is able to pull coding information for the stop start system.
