Saying goodbye to my Dragon Green Superb 220 Sport line this week, as I want to downsize and reduce my monthly running costs as a high mileage business user. I'm moving over to Lexus hybrid after 15 years of Skoda and a SEAT in that time. Had some mostly great times with some great memories of some fun cars. Maybe I'll return one day...

No George, and a somewhat disingenuous comment and surprised by your response if I'm honest.
Let me explain, I asked a simple question from someone I've known for years and get on very well with not some random clown.
With the caveat it's just one dealer but they really have not had many people bringing in broken DQ250 gearboxes, given where I live and the nature of the locals they would see every failure on everything bar that absolute sheds on their last legs in the way to the great scrapyard in the sky.
Similarly, and from my own experience of researching it, it's difficult to find an independent garage, no its actually impossible here in pembs to find someone who knows how to service the DQ250, so again most owners will go back to the franchise dealer. Most of the cars they sell new comeback to them more than once until they fall out of the approved used quality / value so that's at least one, possibly 2 services. So you can deduce that they will be aware of the majority of DQ250 failures and vehicle service histories; but I already knew all this before asking the questions.

Interesting. I got a dealers view on this, so el w I've got to know well not just a, random conversation. They've only seen a small number, 2-3 in the time he's been working there for around a decade. Also noted that the majority of owners don't bother. Not arguing not to do it, just more context. I didn't do it on my remapped cupra 280 as I hadn't realised it needed doing. 60k miles with no issue.

I've just ditched the Corolla, for other reasons. It's way over priced for a pretty grim drive train, slow, and ridiculously noisy tbh.

Jeez, that's pretty disappointing. That's my cost reduction business plan scrapped then, back to the Corolla Hybrid.

I'm assuming mid 40s over short urban and longer M-way commutes. The Internet is somewhat sparse thus far in this info. I managed 42-43 in a Karoq that I owned a few years ago but probably skewed as I grew to irrationally hate it and hammered it over certain roads.

I'd like to downsize to reduce monthly cost, lower finance and better fuel eco. I really like the Superb especially after fitting Konis to make it handle properly. No option to test drive a Monte in the immediate future but Skoda have got an attractive deposit contribution offer at the moment. Keen to hear from Monte owners, am familiar with the 1.5tsi engine from the karoq I had a few years ago, so not expecting much tbh. anyone else made the same transition?

resurrecting this, how critical is the oil change at 40k on the DQ250? Most of my mileage is on the M ways so low gear changes per mile travelled.

Are there any? Google isn't helpful, as none i've found are specialists, and don't know how to do it. Main dealer price is £265 at a local Seat garage, Skoda wants £290!
Also how critical is the oil and filter change on the DQ250 when the majority of the mileage is done cruising on the M way?

I've just upgraded to a Galaxy S23 ultra and it connects fine with BT along with my work A52, the address book synced first time. However, I still get the occasional Android auto glitch so it must be the vag software that's just a bit crap.

I didn't even know AA could connect wirelessly! If mine connect with BT then AA is not avaliable, I have to connect it with a cable.

I have a frequent Android auto glitch with my LG V50. Also, on BT my address book won't sync, though I think that's a phone issue tbh. The only workaround for android auto is to reboot my phone.

My car has just rolled over 41k they were fitted at around 12k. No complaints from me yet and they get good hammering every now and again. I'm presuming you checked and double checked the right part numbers?

My main concern with the B6 is will they be too firm, I keep reading that they can feel harsh (think I have been reading too many comments on BMW forums). I watched a guy on YT suggesting B4's with Eibach springs work well together.
Though to balance this, there are multiple users of KSAs on this site who have had 0 issues with them, and would wholeheartedly recommend them. Actually, the KSAa are probably a bit on the stiff side for urban roads and relaxed cruising; if the B6 are smoother then that's a bonus; though from everything I've read the B6 are going to provide a stiffer ride quality than the KSA

Up towards the ECO / Full loaded tyre pressures just to see if there is any noticeable improvement in fuel efficiency.
What are you running them at now?
Both new fronts were at 38psi so near as dammit the 2.7bar eco pressure. The rears needed 3-4 psi but fuel eco was OK on the old settings anyway.
I had the alignment checked and corrected, it was way off front and rear, but the adjustment was poorly done, now the wheel sits slightly off centre straight ahead and the eco even worse. It will need re doing again.

The Goodyears aren't all season though? They are supposed to be some of the lowest rolling resistance according to some of the online tyre tests, but not so in my experience. Off to get the alignment checked shortly, so once that's done (ruined?) we'll see what they return, but a 4mpg drop on 25k business miles a year is painful.

I fitted some Goodyear Eagle F1 assy 6 a week or so ago, covered around 700 miles on them, mostly in the wet. Tow observations already, the wet grip is very good indeed, especially aquaplaning. The downside is I'm now seeing 3-4 worse mpg, which I didn't expect, given the online reviews. I guess it could be alignment, but can't see that changes much if at all simply by changing tyres.....

That's a shame they didn't work for you. I've now covered nearly 10k since I fitted mine but retained that original springs. No clonking or odd noises, and I still grin at the agility it has over twisty B roads given its size.

regarding catching the knee, yes, it can happen, however i always leave my car with the wheels straight, hence shifters r at 9 and 3 positions. won't have any issues then getting in/out of the car.
I'm used to driving a manual box, so having my left hand ready to change comes naturally. I didn't find an immediate improvement after fitting the extensions, maybe that will change with practice, but they're not game changing for me so far anyway.
I park on a hill, facing downhill, and always turn wheels into face the kerb, so my steering wheel is never straight ahead.

Today, or rather this week I took mine for a 500 mile round trip, across country and over some hills, and hours of tedious M-way. It's mostly cruised at well over 40mpg, but been intermittently thrashed within an inch of it's life. That's the beauty of not having a remap, and a full warranty, it's almost an invitation...

Yeah I've read that before. It's not the need to do it that I'm questioning as George incorrectly assumed more that it seems it gets neglected (I wasn't told about it when I bought my Cupra in 2016 for example and never did it in the 60k I owned it for) and that the neglect doesn't appear to be hugely critical to the short term ie 3 years 60k to 80k vehicle life.
