  1. Hi, anyone had this problem: blip once with remote to lock car and a short faint alarm sounds as lights double flash to indicate it's locked. Then after a while I notice lights flashing but no alarm. Have tried unlocking and locking again but still does it after a while. I have checked that all windows are shut. This has only happened recently. It is a 2007 1.9tdi Roomster. Does the siren have a back up battery and its failing?

any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. I have owned the car for 6 years and has been brilliant.

  2. Right decided I'd get a new switch so off to local parts supplier who had one on the shelf for only £8.00 inc vat.

Back home watched short video from Mr Rooney above did exactly what's shown ..... Easy peasy!

All works ok in the drive so I'll test it properly when I take car out next.

Thanks for all help and responses.

  3. Hope that's all it is I'm going outside soon to fiddle with it. The lights did go out yesterday eve after I moved the brake peddle and prodded around the area above but it was dark so once I got them to go off I left it and went to bed.

  4. My 2007 1.9tdi handbrake does not hold that well on slopes I have to really ratchet it up told dealer but he said adjustment ok. Admittedly the travel is not far up. Wonder if anyone else finds this.

I tow an Eriba caravan sometimes and struggle to hold it on a hill stop

  5. To continue my sensors/towbar dilemma, since it appeared my dealers conclusion that the towball cover was interfering with sensors we had the bright idea of putting a balloon over towball as it will rust otherwise which seemed ok at first then soon after on reversing the same old constant beeeeep! Now I'm fed up and want a removable towbar

  6. Well mine are factory fitted sensors but retro fit fixed swan neck Westfalia tow bar fitted by Skoda dealer as part of car purchase deal and I have had car which is a 2007 year for about six weeks and sensors have played up ever since I had it. Some days they work but more often they just continuasely beep when reverse is engaged

  7. Just taken Roomy to dealer today about sensors making constant beep most times I engage reverse.

There conclusion is that the plastic Westfalia towball cover was the culprit it seems without it sensors are ok.

Just reversed into my drive and yes they worked ok, time will tell now I can't believe that's what it is though

  8. Only had my 2007 1.9 tdi Roomie about a month. My dealer fitted a Westfalia fixed swan neck towbar and twin electrics as part of deal. I found when towing my Eriba caravan and reversing the sensors made the same loud constant beep. Shouldnt the sensors be disabled when towing?

  9. I have only had my Roomster for about 3 weeks and am puzzled that a rocker switch in front of gear stick with lock symbol one end and diagram of doors on other is just floppy and does not seem to do anything also there is another switch on drivers door under arm rest that seems to do nothing. Can anyone explain before I ask my dealer.
