  1. Glad you're enjoying it. Alas BOTH sides of the system needs to have A2DP for it to work. The Amundsen/Bolero/Columbus does not. The iPhone 4S is the first phone with Bluetooth 4 but alas that did not solve this problem either. So you have to control the music from your iPhone. A pain, especially if you had been used to doing this on your (older) Prius!

[As an aside: what on earth are your tree hugging friends saying about you upgrading from a tree-huggers-delight Prius to a 170hp 4x4?!?!? :giggle: ]

I have the iPhone 4s streaming with the Bolero. I can see the track name and artist on the Bolero screen. And control the music from the steering wheel.

  2. SO, in say 3 or 4 inches of snow (tomorrow morning !?) would you leave the ESP on or turn it off?

    Thanks :)

You can't turn ESP off. Only ASR. Normally you don't have to turn it off. You will notice then you need to turn it off. The ASR light on the dash will light up all the time and the car has difficulties to go forward. I only had to turn it off once. But I was going uphill in 8 inches of snow.

  3. For fast laps on icetrack, remove fuse from slot F25 in engine compartment fuse box (at least model year 2010 1.8TSI Yeti). As a result all ESP/ABS/TCS/EDL will disappear, but car is still 4WD. Have fun.

    Thanks!

I guess the dash will light up as a christmas tree with fault messages when I remove the fuse? :giggle:

  4. The snow drifting season is here. But when the fun begins, the Yeti grabs in and prevents me from playing. :(

I know that the ASR can be turned off and it helps a little, but I also want to be able to turn the ESP off. I know that some 2012 VW cars have a two stage-system with the possibility to first turn the ASR off and with a longer press on the switch also turn the ESP off. Thats what I really want!

Is there anything that can be done to correct this behavior? Remove the fuse? Some kind of reprogramming?

  5. Finally got my 2012 Steel Gray 1.8tsi Experience last week. The first week of ownership has been filled with joy driving it, and exploring all the features. The car is everything I expected, except for two issues:

    1. As an engineer I was chocked by the sound of the engine. When I'm starting it, during the first half second or so, it really sounds like a diesel. And lifting up the hood and listening to the sound of it when it is running, I feel that something must be broken. A modern petrol engine that sounds so bad mecanically! I want to add that if I am sitting in the car, I can't hear it. I talked to my dealer, but he tells me that its the normal sound of the fuel injection system of the tsi engines. I have seen some posts from owners complaining about the sound of the 1.8tsi, but I want to hear your experiences about it.

    2. I ordered the car with MDI. But to my surprice, there is no aux in in the armrest. I know it can be different in diferent markets, but whose of you who has the MDI option, is the aux in missing in your cars also?

  6. Is it worth getting the spare tyre option? It seems to take a lot of space in the boot and the Yeti is supplied with a bottle of tyre seal and a compressor to deal with normal punctures - so is it worth losing all that boot space for the unlikely event of a puncture not mendable by the gunk?

When did anyone last have a puncture anyway??

I had my last puncture this summer. I have it every 5-8 years. Then our Yeti will arrive in a couple of weeks, I will be getting one of these

It contains drill, plug, glue and CO2-bottles to repair the puncture. I keep the boot space and don't have to use the nasty bottle of tyre seal :D

  7. I saw Bronze painted on a color plate at my dealer back in May when I ordered.

See the color plates at post #10 here

Ordered Brown (but realized I was buying a new car and choose a brown color!) , changed then to Lava Blue (realized it was to dark for Yeti's design), changed to Bronze (it was great in bright sunlight, but looked brownish otherwise, finally changed to Steel Gray.

Oh, also my doughter didn't like Bronze. She said that she was not going to sit in the car in that color.

My dealer must think I'm crazy changing my mind so often

  8. Hello fellow Yeti owners, I wonder if you might help me with a little query. Page 5 of the Bolero manual has 'EQ settings' and 'Surround' under the audio options, but on my Bolero they are not there! The scrollbar is inactive so I cannot scroll down. What gives? Help meh!

    Cheers,

    Mike.

You need the SoundSystem to have those settings

  9. I did not like the sound and the crackling tweeters so I got rid of them and fitted some Alpine SPR-17S 17cm 300 Watts Component Speakers in the front &

Alpine SPR-17C 300 Watts 2-way speakers in the back with the addition of a Jbl amp hidden under the passenger seat I now have no sound issues from the poor tweeters , it's so much better.

    Peter

Tell me more about how you mounted the SPR-17S. Did you have to use a spacer for the woofer? Did you fit the tweeters in the original mounting?

  10. Thanks for the link.

Interestingly, Bronze, Petrol Blue and Regency Green all look lighter than expected. I wonder what the paint samples in dealers will look like?

    Chris

I saw all the new color plates at my dealer last week. Changed my order from Petrol Blue to Bronze after that. Petrol Blue and Regency Green are great looking colors, but very dark. Bronze looked more copper then bronze.

I took an image. It was difficult to get the right colors. But you can at least judge how dark they are, compared to other colors.

The top right plate is Platin Gray. The second plate at the second row is Bronze. The second plate in the third row is Petrol Blue. The plate at the bottom right is Regency Green.
