Lane assist is dangerous
I turn off this so-called nanny safety system when I remember in both Scala and Kamiq, otherwise it’s like having a psycho with a death wish pulling at the wheel. One positive thing I will say, it does focus the mind and encourage drivers to indicate, which is a good thing.

Scala Monte Carlo with Gyeon Ceramic Paint Protection
Amazing looking Scala and so much more than just paint protection. it’s mind boggling just how many products there are to choose from. CarPro has an excellent range, I love their Darkside Tyre dressing. I really have to limit myself to how many I try, as space, budget and wife have to be taken into account. This is not helped by Pan the Organiser’s new CLEAN range coming to the UK very shortly.

Scala Monte Carlo with Gyeon Ceramic Paint Protection
Thanks. It certainly makes cleaning the car a breeze. I use my RaceGlaze DI water for final rinse and can either just leave it to dry naturally without any water marks or use an EGO leaf blower with stubby attached to blow off any excess water. The Gyeon coating is extremely hydrophobic, so not much sticks.

I voted for Rubber for practical reasons, however if you are a poor freezing pensioner you might want to consider warmer carpet this winter. Careful what you vote for.

- New Scala Niggles
I suppose it’s going to take a long time to understand all the menu’s and short cuts. It takes me ages to sort out the nav. I can’t understand why it keeps switching to my wife’s phone when it is set up for mine. We had a trip out to Dedham in Essex today and used the A12 which is mostly 70mph. I know what you mean about power, I wish I had my 2.0 ltr GTI engine back. I certainly don’t drive around with a satisfying smile on my face like the Golf. Hopefully some sort of firmware update will fix all the false alarms. Even if you turn them off in the menu they all come back once you restart the car, very annoying.- New Scala Niggles
Today the car flashed up another false alert - a big Red collision warning symbol on the dash as well as sudden breaking. This happened twice in about 5 minutes. There were no cars in front or even near me at the time. I turned off this so called safety feature and went on my way. I can add that to the other false alerts. Also, does anyone else have trouble sending a destination via the app to the car. It worked when we first got the car, but now nothing. I must admit the ridiculous infotainment system is driving me nuts. I actually hate it, it is not logical or intuitive. As for talking to Laura, Siri etc, I may as well ask the dog to help me.- New Scala Niggles
After 2 failed attempts it’s nice to see a solution that works. I have ordered the same Auxito LED bulbs from eBay T10 CAR BULBS LED ERROR FREE CANBUS XENON WHITE W5W 501 SIDE LIGHT BULB 24H EUKA- New Scala Niggles
After 2 failures from Amazon I stopped looking and purchased a couple of LED battery powered downlight torches positioned under the netting on the parcel shelf, they do an ok job if I need more boot light.- Scala - question before buying
Speed limiters have not been mandated in GB yet, only in Northern Ireland at the moment as they are classed as in the EU. But give the government a year or two, and it will be pushed through by the back door. Along with as many stealth raiding taxes they can think up to fund and rebuild the ailing blob. Not forgetting every oxymoron Ed Miliband can implement to save the planet from the motorist and anyone who wants hot water, heating and to be able to cook and eat a bacon sandwich.- Scala facelift 1.5 engine code
I posted this info lifted from Skoda source on 23rd April. The top-of-the-range 1.5 TSI engine benefits from improvements brought about by the new catalytic converter, which boasts improved efficiency and reaches its operating temperature more quickly. Moreover, it comes with upgraded software for the ACT+ active cylinder deactivation system. This makes the automatic deactivation and re-activation of two of the four cylinders based on power demands even smoother. The range of conditions under which the system is active has been extended as well, thanks to adjustments made to the intake and exhaust valve lift curve for the active cylinders (first and fourth cylinder). Just like the 1.5 TSI, the two new 1.0 TSI three-cylinder engines in the Škoda Scala and Kamiq now come from the EA211 engine family’s evo2 generation. Advantages include variable control of the intake and exhaust valves, an injection pressure of up to 350 bar, the high‑compression Miller combustion cycle and variable-geometry turbochargers (VGT). New features are ten-hole injectors for an even more homogeneous air-fuel mixture, as well as a new three-way catalytic converter with particulate filter. As the temperature resistance of the turbocharger has at the same time been increased to 980 °C, the optimum air-fuel ignition ratio is now available over a wider range of engine speeds. At 85 kW (115 hp), the more powerful 1.0 TSI delivers 4 kW (6 hp) more than its predecessor and makes this available 500 rpm sooner, and across a wider rev range. The maximum torque of 200 Nm is also available for an additional 500 rpm at the upper end of the rev range.- VOTE NOW - the UK decides - rubber mats or carpet in your Skoda? Just returned from dog training and a long walk in Belhus Woods Country Park. Thank goodness for my brilliant rubber mats, no soggy and muddy carpets for me. Even in so called Summer rubber is the way to go, no kinky fetishes implied.- Microphone not working
Still finding my way around the technology in my Scala, so not sure. It is possible you have somehow muted the mic?- New Scala - any strange anomalies and warning lights
I did consider that fact and also thought perhaps the tyre seal had been slightly compromised as we had driving in and out of our country park on a very uneven road surface, albeit very slowly avoiding potholes. So far all now has settled down. We drove to Long Melford yesterday when the headlight/indicator fault popped up on the dash, again nothing wrong and all working correctly, I can’t really explain why. Turned car off and on again and fault cleared. If I get anymore false alerts I will check in with the dealer.- New Scala - any strange anomalies and warning lights
Yes I did. Once home I rechecked to individual pressures as previously set by me, all exactly the same and reset the TPMS. All were done when cold. By looking ok at the roadside I was referring to no nails or screws embedded in any of the brand new tyres that had only done 50 miles from new. I understand the fundamentals of tire management as I have been driving all sorts of vehicles for 46 years. As evidenced I don’t believe any air loss occurred, so perhaps a sensor fault/glitch was to blame, no further problems so far. - New Scala Niggles
