  1. Let's wait and see what happens at the dealer and I'll report back. Bonne nuit!
  2. Jesus H Christ. This thread is 2019 and I'm writing in this 2024. It's just happened to me. 28k miles, Approved Used 21-plate Scala 1.5, and 2 months since purchase. Clutch stuck down during gear change on suburban road - just after I had left the motorway thank ****. Rolled to safe parking. Called AA. Meanwhile, levered pedal up with foot, then pumped a bit, and it comes back to life a bit, but does not feel quite the same. AA explained the probable cause and sure enough here it is written down in this forum. AA shadowed me on a slow drive to dealer and it is now waiting surgery. It's under warranty and I intend to lawyer up if they try to bill me. It's blindingly obvious that this is a systemic fault arising from poor design and poor materials. It is screaming out for a class action. The poor design and poor materials means that rectifying this requires needlessly major and needlessly expensive dismantling. That would not impress a judge in the civil court. Watch this space.
  3. All good points - however, I just moved from a 12 year old diesel VW to a three year old petrol Scala and the decibel drop is such that it feels like I am driving an empty church building!!! 🤣
  4. It's enough to drive you mad. Given the frustrations experienced by so many people with this infotainment system, one has to wonder if the choice of name was entirely wise...
  5. No rear-view USB socket on my Scala, so I've given the dashcam a miss - not keen on my trim being yanked out to route the cable elsewhere. I've never been sold on them, to be honest, although I can see the case for them in this mad world. With regard to lane assist, the jury is out; if I remember to turn it off, I do, and if I forget, then it is quite interesting getting this occasional nudge from the steering wheel. The one thing I always do is switch off the stop/start function using the button by the gear stick. I've never had stop/start on any previous car and I have found that I do not like it at roundabouts or tricky junctions. I also read someone on this site raising the issue of how the life of batteries is affected. So it's a no from me!
  6. Same here - got my 2021 Scala SE 1.5 on 21 May and loving it so far. Prior to this, I flew a VW Jetta 2.0 TDi for 10 years and the Scala feels very familiar, thanks to the similar layout. Enjoy your new car!
  7. Well, well, that's a surprise, said absolutely no-one. Tax-take drops as compliance with emissions rises, and logically, sooner or later, there's no revenue from drivers and a public finance black hole to fill that is the size of the moon. So what happens then? Guess...
  8. As rubber remains ahead in the great Skoda car mat vote, the burning issue has also featured on the front cover of the enthusiast publication, "What Mat? Magazine". See pic and don't forget to vote - link below: DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!
  9. Ah, but there is - the rescued mats can be put on the living room floor in front of the sofa, where the unfortunate owner can sit and make car engine noises and turn an invisible steering wheel until the insurance pays out! Assuming they are fully comp.
  10. Tsk...it's election day - time to take a stand! If the car was on fire and you could only rescue one type of mat....???😁
  11. Tonight's leader debate: not one word from Sunak or Starmer about whether they prefer rubber or carpet mats in their car. Clearly, the BBC cruelly ripped up the question I submitted. But you can vote on this important issue - link below;
  12. Imagine if the electric hearse conveying one to the cemetery ground to a halt because the battery ran out of juice. One would die of embarrassment.
  13. I prefer the MyEyes app. It comes pre-installed in my head, and is subscription free. I look around my Skoda before setting off and after arriving at my destination. I use the MyKeyfob app which is embedded in the keyfob to lock the doors and the MyHand app, which is embedded in my arm, to check the doors are locked. These two are also subscription free. 🤣 🤣🤣 Maybe I am just old-fashioned!!!!
  14. Life expectancy is a matter of hope versus circumstances, I suppose. Gas powered cremation - electric is just as unreliable in the crem. 4-litre diesel hearse.
