  1. I am planning to rewire my trailer and change from filament bulbs to LEDs. My 2012 Elegance works fine with the trailer as it is, but would changing to LEDs cause any problems with the car recognising / reacting to the trailer lights any differently? Thanks Simon
  2. Thanks Frenchtone. I have replaced the switch with a genuine part from the dealer, (£85), but it made no difference.
  3. My 2012 Yeti 2.0 TDi 170 Elegance has a lighting problem. As soon as you turn the ignition on, the headlights and tail lights come on. The light switch makes no difference, whatever position you put it in, (or even if you remove it). This means that the foglights cannot be used. It looks like the Body Control Module on the inner bulkhead that the switch connects to has gone into safety mode. Does anyone in South / South West / Mid Wales have or know an independent with VCDS who could test the module for me and code a second hand replacement to the car? Thanks Simon

  5. Gumdrop - headlights come in with dipped beam. Stalk allows switching from dip to main, flashing main, as usual Frenchtone - thanks for the suggestion, will give it a try Austin 7 - both about the same price I took the switch out and switched on the ignition; dipped headlights and tail lights came on. Implies a broken circuit in the switch, (as per Frenchtone), as the switch is not interrupting the fed to turn them off when switched to off?
  6. 2012 170 TDi Elegance As soon as I switch the ignition on, the headlights and tail lights come on. The headlight switch position makes no difference, (Off, Auto, Sidelights, Headlights), nor do the fog lights work, (no tell-tale on the dash and lights do not come on). Engine on or off makes no difference. Dip / main selection via the stalk works as normal. I am thinking that the switch is faulty and the car is defaulting to a safe mode. Is there such a thing? However, the car has a panoramic sun roof which has had a minor leak in the past, (but not now, as far as I can tell), so could something else be at fault? The dealer wants £100 to run diagnostics, so if anyone can offer advice, (knowledge, please, not just guesses), I would be grateful. Thanks Simon
  7. Hi, I have a 2012 170 CR TDi, (CFJA engine). Does anyone know the size of the sump plug washer? I want to replace it when I do an oil change but the likes of ECP don't show which size fits which vehicle. Thanks
  8. Not insulted at all; it's easy to overlook the obvious. Yes, it is the headlights. I can see them "do the dance" when they come in and have confirmed by checking from outside the car
  9. Left front corner of sunroof, down left A pillar to front passenger footwell. No pooling, so not a major leak. No sign of a leak on driver's side; no damp carpet.
  10. Would a "call" from a sensor override a switch set to the off position and also prevent it switching other lights not governed by the sensor, I.e. fog lights?
  11. I replaced the switch last night with a genuine part from my local Skoda dealer. As stated, it worked initially with the ignition on, but failed this morning with the engine on.
  12. Hi, I have a 2012 Yeti 170 4x4 Elegance with the automatic lighting function, hence my lighting switch has 4 positions; Off, Auto, Sidelights and Headlights, plus 2 pull positions for front and rear fog lights. My headlights now come on regardless of switch position, as soon as the ignition is switched on. The front and rear fog lights do not come on when the switch is operated. Having read other threads, here and elsewhere, I replaced the switch last night. On doing so, it operated correctly when the ignition was turned on. However, as I dove to work this morning, I found that the fault had returned as before. Assuming that the second switch is OK, (it worked initially), then some other components must be affecting the lights. What would they be and where are they in the car? My car has a panoramic sunroof and has had a minor leak in the past, although not currently, (as far as I can tell). The lighting problem did not start until well after the leak was cured, so may not be related, (but then again…). Advice from those who have experienced the same problem would be appreciated. Thanks Simon
  13. PetrolDave; Don't have DAB and there's no AM reception to speak of in amongst the Welsh hills, so I only use the radio on FM . However, it cuts out on all stations, so it's not just a case of moving from one frequency to another.
  14. Hi, I have a 62 plate Yeti with a Bolero unit, (don't know what version, but it has CD, SD, Bluetooth and mobile phone). When playing the radio, the unit intermittently cuts out, but it doesn't do it when playing from the SD card, CD or Bluetooth. Hence, I'm thinking it's a reception problem, so any ideas where it is most likely; connections at rear of head unit, aerial connections in roof, control module under driver's seat or elsewhere? Coincidentally, the mobile phone doesn't work properly, as the microphone isn't active. Is this likely to be part of the same problem or something different? TIA
  15. I have a 2012 2.0 Elegance 4x4 and had a Westfalia removable towbar fitted with full electrical integration, (rear parking sensor deactivation, trailer stability, bulb failure monitoring, etc.), about 18 months ago by an independent specialist in Haverfordwest. The cost was about £400, whereas the quote from the local Skoda dealer in the same town was about £750. Guess who fits the towbars for the dealer? They just take your keys, drive the car to the specialist and double what it costs them when they charge you.
  16. Thanks Smokeyjoe, I had already read the thread but it doesn't answer my question; what to use to seal the drainage tubes to the outlet spigots? If anyone has done this successfully, please let me know. Simon
  17. Advice please... My 2012 Yeti's panoramic roof started leaking at the end of last year, so over Christmas I stripped out the roof lining and secured all four drainage hoses to the roof outlets with cable ties and sealed them with sanitary silicone, which seemed to stick well and is waterproof. All was well for 6 weeks, then following the torrential rain this week, we've got a saturated front passenger carpet again. I'll check the scuttle drains and try cleaning the roof drainage tubes out, but if I do need to remove the roof lining and secure the hoses to the roof outlets again, what sealant should I use? Answers from those who have done the job, please, so I know what does work, (as opposed to what might, but might not; I don't want to have to do the job a third time...). Thanks Simon
  18. Having just completed the "leaking panoramic roof" repair by removing the roof lining, I have (hopefully) cured the water leak. However, in order to remove and dry the soggy passenger side carpet, I need to remove the seat. As I don't have any spline bits, I need to buy some so that I can unbolt and remove the seat and rails. Does anyone know what size spline bit I will need, so that I can ensure that I buy a set with the right size included? Thanks Simon
  19. Thanks for the advice, guys. I logged in to Erwin today, paid my €7 and prayed that the wifi would behave. It did, so I'm now the proud owner of all the relevant manuals, wiring diagrams, training manuals and vehicle data I could want. Result! Now to look up how to remove the headlining to reattach a loose drain hose for the panoramic sun roof, which is leaking into the car. Another project that will no doubt take longer than expected...
  20. Thanks langers2k and Wino, but as I live in rural West Wales, we do not have decent internet, (currently averaging about 0.95Mb/s; can be quite a bit slower), so one hour will not be long enough. Guess I'll just have to shell out €25 and spend a few hours downloading....
  21. Thanks langers2k, but €25 for a single day's access is a lot more expensive. Has anyone tried the Easymanuals product?
  22. Hi, I have the Workshop-Manuals.com downloaded manual, but find that half the content is missing, (i.e. links to sub-sections that don't exist). Looking for an alternative, I see that Easymanuals.co.uk do a pdf download at £14.99. Has anyone tried this and what do they think? Any other alternatives recommended? Thanks in advance Simon
  23. Hi, My 2012 Yeti has the Bolero unit fitted. I have lots of music in mp3 format on an SD card, which works fine, apart from one niggle. Every track has its' details displayed as "Filename.mp3", rather than just as "Filename". This makes reading the track names harder and so is an irritation. Can this be changed? Is this something to do with the way I've created the files, or a setting on the Bolero unit? (I can't find anything in the manual). Thanks Simon
  24. Thanks for the advice, Gumdrop and Llanigraham. We've just come back from West Wales Towing Centre in Haverfordwest, where we had a Westfalia removable towbar and 7 pin electrics fitted, including coding to the car's systems, a swivelling socket, a bumper aperture cover plate, bag, gloves, etc. for £475 inc VAT. (Sinclair Skoda quoted £750). Excellent service, including drop off / collection in the town centre. The work was all done in about 2 1/2 hours. Happy days. Simon
