  1. Hi @trumpet67, How did you get on replacing this? My mk3 manual window regulator is definitely on a shaky nail and I've already started the process of taking the door card off to get it out to inspect. I might try the GT85 suggestion first by @nta16, but if that fails I'll be looking for a new/used one. I'm confused by the electric/manual regulator parts, do 6V0839401 / 6V0839401A signify the manual version and the other electric? This site has one for £100 but doesn't mention whether manual or electric... https://skodapartsdirect.co.uk/product/skoda-fabia-hatch-2014-2021-window-regulator-left-rear/ The Autodoc site has multiple options as cheap as £30 but does mention an "electric operating mode" I replaced the regulator on my mk1 fabia electric window years ago. What a nightmare, I recall needing to drill out rivets and replace them!!! Hope yours went smoothly 😀
  2. All great points, thanks. Weather looking ok over the weekend so I'll get a chance to make some proper adjustments. Hadn't considered that it would be possible to move the exhaust parts closer to together...actually annoyed with myself now! The front section seemed to have a bit of flex, but I wasn't sure how much play the hanger at the front was capable of. Both old and new sleeves were the same length, 95mm.
  3. Amazingly your part looks in much better nick than mine 😳, see attached. Hardly anything left of the clamps, sleeve was ok though.
  4. No kink I could I see, but I get what you mean. It's possible the RHS pipe went in at a slight angle, however I was very careful that the sleeve was perfectly centred i.e same amount of pipe within it on each side. There was a 30mm gap between the main exhaust components so that left 32.5mm each side (95mm sleeve) of pipe actually in sleeve. If I get the chance I'll double check it's as straight as it should be.
  5. Thanks, good to know re the axle stand When you say misaligned, do you mean each end of the actual exhaust or the clamps? The clamps do look slightly in different places in that picture to be fair. No I didn't use paste... seemed to be mixed advice about whether it was actually needed. Took the car out for a good run and all seems ok, but I'll check periodically for soot stains.
  6. Just coming back here to say thanks to everyone for their help. Job done and running like a dream again. Incredibly easy to fit the sleeve clamp, most difficult part was getting the car up on an axle stand. Ended up only needing to do that on one side as the job was doable with one hand. Incidentally the part I purchased did not have easily removable clamps, they were designed to stay in place I think. The one below specifically from onlinecarparts (autodoc). https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/fa1-2968115.html I may be at risk of a slagging, but was this a suitable place for the axle stand (wishbone I think?). Struggled to get the car lifted up very high with the trolley jack I borrowed so the axle stand is on its bottom setting. Many thanks Mike
  7. Ah, thanks very much rum4mo 🙂. Does this look like the part below? Confused by the diameter a bit as they say 55/60 and you've mentioned 59.6mm. I think they are officially 56mm inner diameter, so is the 59.6mm something to do with the 'relaxed or open' part? I've been considering something like aluminium tape and some steel jubilee clips or something as a temporary repair before I take it in but perhaps just giving the proper sleeve clamp a go myself isn't a big job 🤷‍♂️. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/1k0253141m-exhaust-union-dual-germany-4315.html Getting a mechanic is nuts right now...soonest out of three reputable ones I know was the 13th November. The other two were 17th November and 2nd December!!! Cheers
  8. It's okay, it was just a wee 9 iron 😄. Not driving it until I take to the mechanic, sounding like a really cheap boy racer at the minute!
  9. Ah perfect, thank you 🙂. Seems very cheap for the aftermarket parts indeed, only about £5 + postage. Genuine ones are at least 4x that.
  10. Hi all, My 2016 Fabia 1.2tsi hatchback has developed the old 'boy racer' noises under acceleration and on jacking her up to check I've noticed the central exhaust area is very loose (see pic and video). So rusted! There is an effect on performance as well which I guess is understandable due to loss of pressure. Does anybody know if this is likely to just be the mounting that needs to be replaced or if these parts come as a group and have to be replaced completely? Part numbers for this would be really helpful as well if anyone has access to that 😍. I don't want to get a shock when I go to the garage with it, only recently replaced the timing belt (@ 69k mls) which cost £580 ! Love this wee car! Thanks in advance all, Mike PXL_20231028_153033628~2.mp4
  11. Wow, almost a year has passed and I finally got round to fixing my number plate LEDs. Bought a set of the Skoda original 000 052 110 units from Ebay for £20 in May and retrofitted them this afternoon. Everything works perfectly and no VAG error 😁. However rather than recode them (might be a mistake!) I went down the "resistors in parallel" road as I needed to do a little wiring anyway due to the hatchet job Arnold Clark had made of one of my original units. Question is, I'm now very aware of the heat these resistors can produce and you're supposed to screw them to the internal bodywork away from anything 'meltable'. Does anyone know where and how they could be attached to, or know an alternative solution? Idiot I am should have thought about that and done a wee trip to Nairn instead @fabdavrav . I've attached some pics of the wiring used, but getting a picture of the internals was nigh on impossible. Easier to take the rear door internal trim off as if I was accessing the wiper motor to screw them I'm guessing?
  12. Looks like Horton is my best bet then, even if Skoda-parts are slightly cheaper, rather buy from UK supplier to be honest. So confusing there are interchangeable part numbers, and still a bit concerned that 3AF 943 021 A is the only one that says it is compatible with Skoda mk3 but that part doesn't even come up on Horton, so go figure. Skoda-parts.com €13.41 euros (2 x 000 052 110 "LED Number Plate Lights Skoda) €14.52 euros delivery €27.93 euros total €31.88 euros (2 x 3AF 943 021 A "Number Plate Light LED China") €14.52 euros delivery €46.40 euros total The Skoda Shop (Horton) £24.00 (2 x 000 052 110 "LED licence plate light) £4.95 delivery £28.95 total I happened to be on a Skoda Ireland supplier where I've bought mud flaps from before and they list this data-plug. Any likelihood this will be able to recode the LEDs? 🤞 https://www.skodapartsireland.ie/product/data-plug
  13. Thank you, that's really useful. I already had some W5W size LEDs that said they would be error free but of course were not. Good bulbs other than that. I was hoping to save a few bob by just replacing the original unit like for like, seeing as recoding is required no matter what. Is there any advantage with the dedicated LED units and can the LEDs be replaced (not that they ever will of course!). Not happy with the prices I've found, seem ridiculous for something relatively simple. Cheers Mike
  14. Hi all, I need to replace one of my number plate bulb holders due to a corrosion issue. On checking the existing part numbers I get the following numbers from the unit. Can anyone tell me if these are different parts and need to be ordered independently or if I buy one of them I get the whole unit? Pics on sites like skoda-shop and Horton's are not that clear. I've attached a couple of photos of the part in question. Also need to recode for LEDs, but I notice there are some great guides on here for that 👌🏻😁. 5N0943021B 1K9943021D 1K9943127B Many thanks y'all 😊 Mike
  15. Hello all, I've had some issues with a rather ****e repair (Arnold Clark, no surprises there) of one of my licence plate light units. It was a repair centre, and suffice to say I'm sick of going back to them about it so I want to effect a repair myself. I may have a small bit of wiring to do and wanted to make sure I got components e.g terminal block, appropriate for the circuit fuse rating. I thought that knowing the fuse rating for the circuit would help me out. What I'm confused about is that why, after investigation the licence plate needs a 40amp fuse (Number 4: Right-hand light, rear fog light, licence plate light). I'm sure it's correct but it seems excessive for a few bulbs! Have I missed something here? Thank you 😀
