The brim method is what I am going to follow, you gave me the same advice when I had my Black Fabia vRS 👍 Really pleased with the performance increase via the remap, if these engines can safely run like this, it does make you wonder why they restricted them so much.

Had a ”Stage 1” remap this morning by a local company, in fact just a few streets away. Wasn’t put on a rolling road, but I specifically asked for a low torque remap, the quoted figures were 170HP and 390NM which of course I took with a pinch of salt. I brimmed the tank and took the car for a spirited test drive out to Nantwich. It goes so much better, I can’t believe the difference it has made, I will monitor the fuel economy for the next few tanks full of diesel and see if it’s improved. That’s if I can resist the urge to give it a punt here and there 🤣 bloody love the thing even more!

Inspired by the rare sighting of that fireball in the sky 😎 I fitted the strut brace, removed the sticker as I prefer the clean look, glad I decided not to paint it blue to match now. Cleaned and polished within an inch of it’s life, I really notice the multitude of stone chips after a polish, thankfully previous owners were fastidious when it came to touching them up.

Happy to report that the door sealing worked flawlessly, replaced all the fixings with new ones, going to do the other side while the weather is nice, a bit of preventative maintenance. My daughter sent me an early (2 years in fact) 50th birthday present, it matches her number plate and my sons too… 😍 I would never buy a personal number plate, so it was a nice surprise, I put some LED number plate lights in at the same time. Dreaded this job, so it’s had new seals not that long ago, there was some sealant present when I removed the door card and some black putty type substance which I scraped away. The OSR was leaking every so slightly, but enough to make the door card get wet at the bottom. So I removed it, I only broke one clip 🙄 ten more ordered and on the way, and one of the plastic mounts that the clips sit in had been repaired previously so that needed sticking back on. I bought XPRO StixSeal which is supposed to be good stuff, it’s fixed the mount back in place really strongly. Anyway, removed what I could, did two passes with the StixSeal, not the smoothest of jobs, but hopefully I’ve done the trick.

Today’s deliveries, bit of geeking out with the history book, and my lovey NOS strut brace.

Fantastic service from PSiTuning, cannot fault them at all, so they’ve secured my future business! PSI 😎 Suppose I should have taken before and after photos, but the ride is all I needed to know how much better the setup is. Makes me wonder if the suspension on it was the original, I was expecting an increase in firmness of the ride, but it actually feels smoother. Seat Sport Front Upper Strut brace next to be fitted should be here tomorrow, purchased from Stoneacre in Doncaster. I have a Whiteline RARB to fit also, but waiting for my visit to Rustbuster before I fit that. Just a quick (2hrs) 🙄 clean today, think you can tell from my previous photos that it’s slightly lower.

Bought this with the plan to powder coat it blue… but have since found a NOS item which I’m going to fit instead. I paid £100 for it, I would like to recoup the £100 for it, I’m located in Stoke On Trent, happy to travel a bit for a meet up if your not too far! 🫡

Boot loaded up with new suspension and steering parts, with carefully positioned impact protection! I have bought the majority of the parts from VWSpares who have been amazing to deal with, mostly Lemförder, with a couple of Febi Bilstein items, and all new nuts and bolts from VAG bolts on eBay. Tie Rods/Ends/Gaiters Control Arms & PSB Console bushes Ball Joints Drop Links ARB Bushes Bilstein B4 Shocks Eibach Pro-Kit Bump Stops/Dust Shields Top Mounts Upper & Lower Rear Spring Seats Booked in for a service, along with fitting of the suspension and wheel alignment 🤓

This very new, but very dusty set arrived from Sweden today, always thought it odd to have front guards but not rear!

I used them many years ago when I had a Mk2 Golf GTI G60 Edition One, they were spot on, at the time I lived in Oldham and travelled down to use them specifically... I take no notice of online reviews personally, you'll always get some disgruntled customer for reason or another. A friend of mine has used them for many years, their facilities are really good and of course they're a VAG specialist which is handy, there is one other company TQC in Stoke, but they failed to reply to my request for information and quotes, so that was that.

How could they refuse to take my hard earned money off me, especially when seeing how lovely the car is! it was a rose between thorns though, as there were Porsches and other exotic cars up on the ramps 😍

I have thought about all of the above, so I’ll get it cleaned up and protected for now. Then source a replacement and all new bushes, bearings over time, then swap the lot over in one fell swoop. It’s not long since had discs and pads all round, so may as well get my monies worth, thanks 😅

New genuine rubber mats and replacement OS headlight rear cover arrived from Skoda-Parts… schoolboy error the mats are for a LHD car 🙄 but hey they protect the carpet and I can save the original mats. Off to PSiTuning this morning for them to “inspect” my suspension parts as they said they won’t fit customer supplied parts. I did say I bought genuine/OE parts and wanted a local independent specialist to look after my car moving forward, so let’s hope they’re suitably impressed when they see the Fabia in the flesh 🤣

The stone chips, rusty axle and wishbones are the only signs of age!

I have purchased a rea anti-roll bar, and also a pair of TT callipers, the car has recently had discs and pads all round and they feel very good, so I’m going to wait until they need replacing before upgrading.

When is Skodafest?

Few bits done this morning, after ordering a replacement ambient temp sensor, I removed the fog light grill to find the plug wasn’t connected 🙄reconnected it and that was that! Cowboy bodged the drivers side headlight cover to secure it while I wait for the new one. Removed the foam from the top engine cover as it has disintegrated. Ordered new mirror glass for both sides, full set of wheel bolt covers, and the missing tools from the kit. So basically, just threw money at it and dealt with two minor annoyances 💸💸😅

Wonderful drive back, I’d forgotten how sporty the ride was, well compared to our Dacia Sandero it is 😆 Effortless cruise back from Burnley to Stoke On Trent, the M6 gods were kind to me! Got home to find the OS headlight backing sat at the bottom of the engine bay, just ordered a new one 🙄 ABS and ASR lights came on, after a Costa stop they went off again, only to come on again shortly after, so that needs investigating. I obviously had rose tinted glasses on when I viewed it initially, couple of minor (I’m being really anal here) marks here and there, and the drivers mirror needs replacing, oh and the tool kit is missing a couple of bits. But, I’m so happy, again I have to say the previous owner really did not mess about, the amount of receipts for genuine parts from TPS is staggering! First job is to remove the blue sticky protective plastic! What would normally sit in this space?
