Living With A Sportline Plus 272 Hatch
A few years ago VAG management cars were registered on "K" plates & the press fleet cars on "O" plates. Any leased / daily rentals had "G" plates. My Superb was 9 months / 5k miles with many interesting addresses (including the users home address) in the Sat. Nav. memory, & nothing to indicate it had been a demo car. Given that said user lived in a very expensive location in N.E. Cheshire I was quite happy to buy it.

I'm probably going keep my old Superb for a while, it's still a very useful & fun car, + I can experience something of the Superb 3's DNA in my bright red Golf R .

Good point, but Shy has my 'phone number so it wouldn't have to been public (Briskoda) knowledge.

I do see your point, selling to a private buyer could be a PITA. All I can state is that I wouldn't waste my time looking for a car if I couldn't pay for it, & transferring cash between any UK bank shouldn't be a problem.

Perhaps you should have offered your car to the Biskodians before trading it in.......? Black is not my favorite colour, but.....

I hope that the dealer is equally honest when they publish their description of your car.......... I also hope that you have kept a copy of he printout, I still have all of ours.

Could you name an EV that's large enough to replace a Mk. 3 Superb for a similar price? By running an 8-year old Superb which was bought outright back in 2013, with decent fuel consumption & low average miles, (38K miles soon) I'm being nicer to the planet than someone who buys an new EV, manufactured with many expensive materials & powered from a National Grid that's lacking enough base-load generating plant.

When I bought my Superb I traded-in my mapped black vRS, the dealer was made aware. They decided that since they would need sell the car with a Skoda Used Car Warranty, as much as they liked the car's performance, the map would need to be removed. It wasn't a problem to get it restored to the factory settings & they were happy to pay for the change.

Why would you ever want to sell a bright red Superb wagon, it suits it very well.....

My Black Magic vRS was a PITA to keep clean, swapping it for a Silver Superb was a really good idea.............

As you know, we don't use our cars overmuch, especially so this year, so the Golfs get a battery charge every 14 days, 'cos they only come out to play when it's not raining....... Since the Superb has become the shopping trolley, it does just enough miles to keep the battery topped up. (At least a 8 mile round trip every week plus local shopping trips, long enough to get the oil temp up too.) If that's the car you're buying I'd guess that its an ex. Bentley or Ducati company car.

What do you anticipate the fuel savings will be? Using your annual mileage (9K , from a previous post), your own actual & estimated mpg's & today's average petrol (£1.14) & diesel (£1.18) you would save about £500 p/a. Deduct the cost of the AdBlue & the cost to change cars, is there a real saving to be had?

The fuel consumption bumf is interesting, but with too much detail for us, we're happy to get 30+ mpg from our two 300ps cars but the ancient Superb is even cheaper to run.... I do keep a fuel purchasing record book, (qty, date & location) & have done so for the last 25 years, but it's really a diary, the different cars & when / where the places visited. As for usefulness, Shy's postings do indicate that a Mk. 3 4WD Superb is a decent car & a step up from a vRS, (not very surprising ....) 't was my feeling too when I swapped a Mk2 Octy vRS for a Mk. 2 Superb. I'd could live with a Mk 3 Superb, (my preference would be an Arteon) but they're both too big for my garage .

New Octavia 2020 vRS?
Thanks Keith. 'Tis a pity that they still use fugly wheels, that seem to be kerb magnets.... Also not keen on the new DSG selector, I use the hold feature on my cars quite a lot, & that's no going to be possible anymore. I'll wait for a test drive drive before raiding the piggy bank, but there's a pre-reg (70 plate) Arteon R-line for sale @ £33K, 4Wd, 272ps, DCC, etc. If I had a bigger garage.......... DC

If can't afford / don't want to borrow money, (but can afford to purchase outright, not so unusual for us senior citizens...) can you start with a PCP, to get the £2K discount & then settle the account with cash?

The rear wiper is FOC.....but there are those peeps that don't like the look of a rear wiper on a saloon / fastback / whatever it's called.

Tres posh... We've used a hotel once in Coral Bay, (really cheap deal in November), usually we stay in Tala, about 5 miles inland & 1000 ft up from Paphos. Cooler up there, albeit windy, not many tourists + good local shops etc. Very much expat country.....- Living With A Sportline Plus 272 Hatch
Makes sense, I saved approx. £8.5K by buying my ex-Skoda Superb. Not such a good deal as yours, but it was only approx, £27.5 K new back in 2012............- Living With A Sportline Plus 272 Hatch
I've no idea where you're staying but from past experience October in Cyprus can be quite warm, unless you venture up to the mountains. Frozen hail-stones & 4 degrees in Troodos (when compared with 20 degrees in Pafos) was a surprise, especially 'cos we weren't properly dressed.... Ayia Napa is OK in the off-season, Cape Greko & Protaras probably worth a visit too. If you are going to rent a car, (I always do if only to get to / from our digs.) you'll find Cyprus is a fun place for drivers, a really useful motorway network, entertaining main roads & some twiddly routes through the mountains. It's a country of many contrasts, from posh shopping centres, supermarkets & upscale beach resorts to derelict villages (remnants of the Turkish / Greek conflicts) in the hills. The EU has funded much improved public transport too (no trains though...), cheap local buses + long distance coaches too. If you do want to visit the Turkish occupied zone, it's best done in Nicosia, just walk north on Ledra Street (pedestrian only road) there are Customs Posts either side of the Nato no-mans land. (Bring passport, of course.) There are other border crossings that would require a car to reach them, but rental cars can't visit the Turkish zone, 'cos they wouldn't be insured. I've visited Cyprus 6 times, so I've learned a little about the island & since I'm not a beach person, I'd really recommend some exploring.- Living With A Sportline Plus 272 Hatch
More torque & lower down too, much more useful than max power at high RPM's.- New Octavia 2020 vRS?
The Arteon isn't really a small car, the same length but a little wider than your bus..... Same 66 litre tank too, same powertrain, possibly less drag 'cos it's quite sleek & cheaper ( when comparing 2nd hand cars, not when brand-new). As for the Golfs the R's get a 55 litre tank & when driven by old people (like us...) 400 miles range is possible. Swapping my R for an Arteon or a 4WD + DCC Superb could be a really good idea, except that my garage is too small & can't afford to change my home right now. To get back on track, the new Octavia could fit into my life, but there's still no 4WD petrol & that's what I want / need. Maybe wait for the new Leon Cupra ST with AWD?- New Octavia 2020 vRS?
You could get into a 272ps 4WD Arteon for another £3-4K....- New Octavia 2020 vRS?
No physical changes, such as bigger turbo & / or intercoolers? - Living With A Sportline Plus 272 Hatch
