  1. Just popped into my (nearly) local Skoda dealer 20 miles away lo and behold one occty Mkiv 2ltr graphite grey just sitting there. No tow bar fitted, of course, had a word with the salesman he’s going to have the Skoda recommended tow bar fitted, picking it up on 1st March. In today’s climate I’m thinking of applying to the Guinness Book of Records this has got to be a world record, first seen to bought with the bits I wanted 30 mins. Plus it was the first day of Skoda giving £500 of free fuel, it was just my day.
  2. That’s fantastic, thanks guys always rely on Briskoda.
  3. Can an after market tow bar be fitted to an Octavia Mk iv? I accept that it won’t have all the bells and whistles of a factory fitted one but after a disaster a few years ago with an overly ripe bag of lawn mower clippings I refuse to carry garden waste to the tip inside my car, so we use a small 102 trailer. Apart from that we have several yuccas and annual maintenance would shred the inside of the car. I’m prepared to buy a (very) recent used Octty or, preferably garage stock but it must have a tow bar.
  4. Change of model year it always happens at this time of year. I'm trying to order a new S111 using last years (this years) configurator not a hope in hell, it's been 8 weeks and I haven't a clue and that's trying to spend 35K with them.
  5. Job was a good un as I said on the 14th of May but job was not a good un last week. Took it to my (very) local Good Garage Guide garage after much scratching of beards (mine) and heads (Johns) we agreed that there is only one item in the system that's the carrier plate for the handle so change it says I. Unfortunately I had to pay for diagnosis (at very reduced rate) but hopefully this info will save other owners an arm and a leg and a hell of a lot of frustration. Skoda Part number 5NO 839 855 H. In the picture below the little arrow points to the pin that we all keep pulling and pushing. Obviously the door card has to be removed to gain access but apart from that a reasonably easy job. However it did come as a bit of a surprise to find no trace of an adjuster of any sort despite the comments above. I have tried it about 50 times now and all seems to be working as expected, so my thanks to Sandy Garage of St Blazey you've earned your place in the Good Garage Guide.
  6. Checked the system today the little half moon shaped catch is a locking pin, refitted the handle, pushed in the pin and the jobs a good un.
  7. I have the same problem on my 2018 Superb. Spoke to my local dealer, described what happened (wife was opening the door and walked away with the handle in her hand). Diagnosed, unseen, £288.00 for replacement handle no mention of the possibility that it was just a simple adjustment. Thank the guy in the sky for Briskoda.
  8. Thanks JR. Car came out of warranty on the 8th of March second problem since then.
  9. The wife tried to open the passenger door this morning but after refusing to open, the door handle suddenly came off in her hand. I refitted it and tried several more times to get the door to open, with no luck at all and the handle was loose in its fitting. Tried opening the door from inside, stuck solid. Left it and started to drive home with Lady Luck in the back seat when the door open light lit, pulled over and checked, door was open, closed door and rechecked all working as normal. Worried that, in the event of an accident the wife could be locked in the car. Any advise please
