Hi all, recently my car started making this horrible noise when moving off, forwards or reverse, but only once the car is fully warmed up, when cold it's just like a new car. It's been at the dealers for a couple of days and they reckon it's the flywheel, VW want photos before deciding if it's covered under my extended warranty, I'm praying it is 🙏 Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem or heard of it happening before please? 20230912_155326.mp4

Thank you very much for the links, I'll have a look through before I go back for a 2nd drive at the weekend. Do you think if it's a DSG issue we should steer clear or is that something that can be adjusted/sorted out? Thanks again for your help

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but can anyone point me to other threads about the 1.5 EVO engine please? I test drove a T-Cross auto today, when moving away from a stop it felt like a jolt, then 1st gear sounded like it was revving very high before a jolty change into 2nd gear, after that everything was smooth as can be, the further upshifts and downshift, no problems at all, just the move off/1st/2nd issue. The car has only done 6500 miles, June 2021 registered, 1 owner and immaculate condition, but this issue is putting me off buying it, any ideas on the cause/fix, I read on another forum that thee was an extensive thread on here about it but this is the only one I can find in the search. I also drove a 1.5 EVO Taigo auto and that was smooth as anything, so I guess that it's a T-Cross problem which may be fixed in newer models? Any help or advice gratefully received.

My GTI+ has gone in today for the weighted bolts to (hopefully) cure the loud mooing noise when reversing, I'll give it a week of usage before I will happy it's fixed...... Update - It's fixed! Unbelievable such a simple fix, that's a known issue/fix on other vehicles, has taken 3.5 years but glad it's done now.

Well it's still a "spare" type wheel with speed limited to 50mph but has a higher side wall, the GTi one is only a tiny sidewall. I tried it but it wouldn't clear the larger discs, I'll look into a spare alloy so it's a straight swap in future, usually I just get it changed but my tyre man isn't available until next week and I'm wary about other fitters scratching my wheels. Good evening, bit of a strange question but hopefully you might know. I have a Polo R-Line with 17 inch alloys and full size spare tyre, I also have the GTi with 17 inch alloys but only a space saver. Today I have a puncture in the GTi and was wondering if I can use the full size spare from the other car instead of the space saver? I would imagine yes but don't want to try it and then find out I can't as the depth is different or something like that, surely they're interchangeable? Thank you for any advice. EDIT SOLVED Answer is no, not able to use the other wheel as the brakes are too big on the GTi

Skoda used to do free dual controls but unsure now, I would have bought a Mk3 but it was still a few months before release when I was due to change my Mk2, prices for Mk2 were high too so I bought an A1. I now have Polo's, they weren't much difference in price to a higher spec Fabia at the time and I went with them hoping they will retain value a little better. I'll look at a Fabia in a few years when I change again though.

I can understand the industries hands are tied to an extent and I am sure they are working hard in the background, but it would be better PR for them to tell us a bit of what is going on! We have tests booked that were rearranged for June/July, been vaguely told not to take anyone to test that isn't ready but not allowed to train them yet, but also not able to go online and rearranged their tests to a later date! Also insurers are giving mixed messages, some say you can go and teach as your policy covers you, some are saying you can't, it's all a bit confusing right now. I would rather they said we can teach Key workers with tests at our own discretion, everyone else not until eg August and all tests will restart in September, at least then we know we aren't getting back in the car until August rather than looking at one another and seeing who's going to make the first move.

It's all a bit of a mystery regarding our industry at the moment isn't it, people talk of returning in July but some are already out there. The wording has so many loopholes that an individual could say they fit into but my belief is we can't go back until distancing is reduced to 1m or removed completely. Insurers are vague too, some saying you can use your car, some say not. We all have a different view of things depending on situation. Whatever you choose to do I wish you luck and hope you stay safe 🙂
