Polo GTI some details

Some more detail?

From what I read of this, then  its Come on a Fabia vRS. with more go/better handling and real competition to the Fiesta, not a superficial gesture.

This a futile attempt at competing with the Fiesta and other coming. All it does is try and hold a status quo, with no leap forward.

Keeping the "cost /price" lower by using developed old engineered parts in the bin, and playing safe.

Hi all   Gave the Polo a quick single wash yesterday - don't want to do too much work as I have the car being detailed next week and want to leave the paintwork as untreated as possible until then.

Mate, when your previous car was a 60bhp Citigo, believe me the Polo GTI is "blistering"

Mistake there first off. on the Spec Details.  Maybe a Typo.

Is the new 1.8TSI ones less than 139 g/km Co2.    Because the one from 2010-2014 was 139 g/km.

as was the A1 185 ps,  & the Ibiza 1.4tsi FR 150 ps.

The Skodas were and are 148 g/km.  before and after the CTHE.

The Seat Ibiza Cupra CAVE was 148 g/ km.

then the CTHE was given as 139 g/km

This was what they said on the Twincharger model.

The Fabia mk3, with the option of an Estate is so much more for the punters to go for, when considering a car in this sector.

So come on VAG put the power plant and gearbox option in this package.

I wonder how many Polo GTI'S are in their sales forecasts at  VW.

Would this be more fun and competition for the Fiesta.

Yes, there is a price premium?

Ahh,

'Equivalent to 129g/km CO2 with the DSG,

Equivalent to 139g/km CO2 with the 6 Speed Manual.

&

the ESC sounds nice. ESC Sport / XDS+

Press ESC to switch off the TC (ASR).

Hold for 3 seconds to select ESC Sport System.

Lets hope the Autoexpress test will show the revised suspension and the ESC Sport System will do the business.

Shame that they are not comparing with the current benchmark , Fiesta ST , in a 3 way test.

Edited by vrskeith

indeed, I think its because the special edition 208 is quite closer to the ST being a "harder" version ;)

So I estimate that the 5 DR ,DSG with Suspension uplift will be about £21k

So is the conclusion by the journalist - don't buy it if you want a really fun hot hatch. Go with Fiesta ST Mountune.

However if you want a small family hot hatch, with greater flexibility and usefulness, 5 dr, optional manual  or DSG ,with higher quality all round, then it might be for you!

that seems to sum it up from what I've read. For me at least, its also very appealing that the GTi can be mapped with a stage1 map for 245bhp and almost 300lb/ft via the OBD port. :)

Is this an all new polo or just a facelift with a new engine option?

Tom,
It says a face lifted version in the Autocar article.

Plus this from VW at Paris Show :http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/about-us/news/629

OT,

but a rather relaxed style of DSG use.   (spotted this 1.4 TSI vid while looking for ones of the 1.8 TSI i could watch with sound on.)

I just wonder what opening or early financial packages /inducements will be on offer?

Any VW salesman or marketing person know and fancy enlightening us ?

my mate drove this the other week, ( his review is the pistonheads one) he said it was quickish but no track car.  Very torquey though
