  1. Just an update for future reference. I fitted new discs and the pads mentioned in this thread. Fitted perfectly, put them against old pads and couldnt tell the difference apart from the wear sensor wire. Cut of the sensor and good to go.
  2. Fitted new discs and pads all round today and then went for a spin to test it all out. Did a couple of heavy brake tests and noticed a sort of electrical motor noise. Would this be the ABS or something else. Cheers
  3. This is the system I have fitted. If anyone knows of an adaptor for an iPhone to fit this type of plug and or a cradle that will fit the existing bracket, please let me know. Sorry for rubbish picture quality.
  4. Well spoke to the dealer and apparently there is no iPhone dock for this 'old' phone system and any other kind of dock is discontinued. I guess only option is to find a cable that converts from the OEM car socket to an iPhone. Will post if I find one.
  5. Yes I think a dealer is the answer. Will go on Saturday. Cheers
  6. So is there a verdict? are these the right pads or have I been sent the wrong ones and need to swap them. Thanks
  7. Just seen these, they are red but I guess you can get another colour. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RallyflapZ-Skoda-Fabia-VRS-Mudflaps-Mud-flaps-RED-/400027767354?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d2383523a#ht_4681wt_1396
  8. I have an OEM phone installation in my vRS but it requires you buy the cradle compatible to the phone you have. I am looking for the iphone 4 cradle but cant seem to find any info out at all about it. Does anyone know the part number or any info whatsoever. Cheers
  9. As Requested the information about the pads.
  10. Will check the part number and post it when I get home. Currently at work.
  11. Picked up my 2005 vRS last, really pleased with it and looking on here its one of the highest spec ones I have seen, which has pleased me no end as I didnt realise how much of the spec was extra over the standard car until I read through various posts on here. I will post some pics at the weekend. Anyway back to my question I am going to give it a service etc. It currently has Fuchs 5w-30 motor oil and I was going to change to Castrol Edge 5w-40, is it ok to just drain the old oil and change the type or do I need to flush or anything first. Thanks again
  12. Just had new set of discs and Mintex pads delivered for my vRS. Is it correct that only one set of the front pads has the wear indicator wire / plug? thanks
  13. Is it advisable to Change the DMF when you change the clutch or only change it if it's giving problems. Also does it have a lifespan like the cambelt and you should change it after a certain amount of miles. Cheers
  14. Hi I did try the search thats how I found this old thread. I was just wondering if anyone has done a complete guide with pics etc, like the one that shows you how to cure the leaking back window problem. There are a few threads on the subject but nothing that covers everything and the one with most info isnt for a vRS. Maybe I will give it a go and do a guide for others. One thing you might be able to answer is, do I need new gaskets or anything or is it just a case of remove clean and put back together with old gaskets. Thanks again
  15. Old post but I am also looking for a guide to do this on my vRS. Did you find one in the end. Cheers
  16. Thanks for the info. Why would I need VCDS? Thanks again.
  17. I have 2005 vRS and want to do a complete brake fluid change. Can someone tell me if its Dot4 fluid I need and roughly how much would I need to do a full change. Thanks
  18. Thinking of getting VCDS but on the Rosstech website there are several different versions HEX-USB+CAN Interface, HEX-COM+CAN Interface, Micro-CAN Interface,KII-USB Interface. Which is the one I would need. I have a 2005 Fabia vRS but in the future will get an Octavia so I would like one that will be future proof and usable on a wide range of VAG cars. Thanks
  19. Thanks for all the info. I have exactly like the last picture but as it has places for screwdriver etc I assumed it was missing, but it doesnt look like it is now.
  20. Picked up my 2005 vRS last Friday and have spent the weekend cleaning and doing a few things that needed doing. Fantastic little car. I have a question and I am sure more will follow as I get to know its quirks and habits. When ever I start the car I get a noise that sounds like a rush of water with bubbles in it, its very difficult to describe. It seems to come from the footwell area but I cant be sure. Is this normal and if not any ideas what it could be. Many thanks
  21. Was there ever a multi function steering wheel option on the MK 1 Fabia, and if so can it be retro fitted.
  22. I would have read the manual but unfortunately that's in German too. So by the sounds of it it's a garage job which I guess means Vag Com could do it. Bit odd you can change the nav language but the display upgrade that only comes with nav can't be changed unless by a garage.
  23. Yes the picture is exactly the same as my dash. The satnav unit I managed to change to English but the display you have pictured is still in German.
  24. Just picked up my 2005 vRS and noticed that some tools are missing from the toolkit that sits in the spare wheel. Could someone tell me what should be in it or post a picture of the toolkit so I can see what I have missing. Thanks
  25. As title suggests I picked up my 2005 vRS this afternoon, to say I'm impressed is an understatement so much grunt and it's diesel. Just needs a little TLC to bring it up to near perfect. A question or two. Should the air filter housing be loose it is screwed down but it wobbles a fair bit. Secondly as I live in Germany it's a German car and the dash computer is in German is it possible to change the language or is it a re-program from the dealers. The factory navigation I changed to English but can't seem to change the dash computer. Cheers
