  1. Hi Experts I've downloaded my map upgrade and unzipped it etc and put it on a 32mb FAT32 SD card. The guidelines say to go insert the SD card into the slot. The picture shows two slots whereas my Columbus has only one situated below the screen. I inserted the SD card and went into the Set up menu and nowhere can I find the entry "information about version/System" and a lower level option of" into the menu and "actualisation of SW..... etc Am I missing something? Any comments/help greatly appreciated. Cheers Jerry
  2. Dexta Man

    Torx size?

why not terminate your earth lead with a tab and use a nut to bolt it onto one of the protruding threads over on the RHS?
  3. My logbook says 1968cc so I think of it as a 1.9 although statistically it is nearer the magic 2,000cc Use it frequently down my field which is currently very wet and muddy grass. Not a problem. BTW I also have four Fordson Dexta's of which two are still going strong after 60 years! The other two are "work in progress"!!
  4. I had to do this to refit the windscreen washer connector after I hit a deer. The wing has an upper and lower section held together by 10mm nuts which are awkward to get to as you need eyes on stalks and sensitive hands! Remove the undertray and the wheel arch liner screws and you can reach in. It is in the workshop manual.
  5. Usual tyres, all season. Just a very light right foot. Had a few scary moments when people came down a hill behind me and ended up very close to me!
  6. I was out in the snow this year doing my bit as a Wessex 4x4 Response member. Didn't encounter any problems with traction, steering etc. The real problem was other inexperienced drivers! 1.9 DSG Yeti.
  7. That kinda throws a light on it! So buy a top grade occasionally to clear out the crud.
  8. I used to work in a building overlooking Buncefield Oil depot in Hemel Hempstead. That was until the oil depot demolished the building! But you could see all the different petrol companies tankers trundling in under the filling gantry and filling up with fuel. So BP, Texaco, Jet, Tesco etc tankers all filled up at the same depot. I suspect there was only three grades of Petrol, good, not so good and cheapo so whatever the garage it came down to on of three grades. You takes your choice. I have heard that it pays to use a higher grade diesel occasionally to clear out you FIP.
  9. Lost mine through a very powerful Car wash! Replace the roof antenna and all is fine
  10. Hi folk My Columbus now informs me that I am driving somewhere in Holland rather than the A37 in N Somerset! Any advice as to possible problem please. I think it might be something to do with my antenna as it occurred shortly after a Polish car wash! How can I check antenna is functioning OK. TIA Jerry
  11. Regarding stability issues when towing, another factor to consider is the distance from the towball to the rear axle. The longer the distance then the greater swing out of the ball and that can make a trailer veer and become unstable. Long overhang rears on vehs are not good.
  12. Re the lack of switched USB outlet. I did this to my Yeti by buying a 12v to USB free socket on ebay and fitted it into my dash and picked up the supply from the fuse box.
  13. Here's a close up of my USB switched socket on the dash of my Yeti.
  14. Just to add more fuel!! I removed one of the lower switch blanking plugs, bought a 12V to USB board (with USB socket on flying leads) and with a bit of drilling and filing and Araldite managed to fit the USB socket into the blanking plate. Now I can charge my phone from the dash, wired into a switched 12V fuse in the fuse holder bank. Works a treat and goes off when you swtch off. Jerry
  15. Hi Well went and ordered the item #30 (part no S1J0955875C) for the princely sum of £6.64 and now it's a Black clip on a black body (can you see it? No you can't!!!!)
