  1. I have a provisional build week of 26, and now full confirmation of the spec, see attached. SE L Plus pack and SmartLink confirmed, woohoo!

I was tempted to add SmartGate and Wifi, but I'm not sure the latter is very necessary (they don't seem to explain what it's actually for?!) and it sounds like the former can be easily retrofitted if I want it later.

    The replacement

  2. Hi all, been following along for a while, having ordered a hatchback 2.0 TDI DSG Elegance at the end of April with the free ACC and Park assist. I've been in touch by email with my dealer to try and get SmartLink added.

He's come back to me today with a revised order, maintaining the ACC + PA free of charge, with the SmartLink and a few other options I'd chosen. Interestingly this new order now start with 'OCTAVIA HATCH SE L' rather than Elegance, and is £290 cheaper on the base price of the car compared to the original order, so that went well  :nerd:

  3. I took the dog for her usual walk today and thought she was being a bit quieter than usual in the back of the car. When I let her out I noticed little chewed bits of rubbery plastic on the floor. I looked up and discovered she'd chewed away the end of the grab handle!

So, my question is, can this part be easily replaced? I'll have this car for another couple of years first, but before trading it in I'd like to know that I can put things right.

    Thanks!

  4. Good point! I've been looking at the manual online up until now, I've just pulled it out of the car, and sure enough it's as you suggest in there, both on page 44 regarding the indicator on the control knob, and pages 18-25 not listing the low beam at all. So it's definitely intentional!

I have to admit, I find the change a little jarring! Especially as the indicator still exists on the panel.

  5. It does seem like an odd choice to actually disable this indicator (as it's definitely present if you shine a light onto the dash). Is one other possibility, given how close together MarieK, Wiganyeti, BigHusky and my cars were built that there's an actual issue with the batch rather than it being intentional?

I wonder if I should perhaps contact Skoda UK to get proper confirmation given the dealer isn't being particularly helpful.

  6. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I hadn't noticed the symbol on the opposite side of the knob (after having the auto lights in my previous model too). I shouldn't be surprised, I hadn't noticed the electric mirroring folding either until a couple of weeks after having the car. Though the operation of that makes little sense to me. It only seems to fold them in when I move the dial to that position upon stopping, and the dial needed moving back when I wanted to restart for them to fold out again. I'd rather assumed they'd just auto fold in and out when the ignition was stopped and started when this feature was active.

One final oddity with the headlight indicator. I grabbed my phone and put it in flash light mode, shone it as the dash, and noticed there's still an icon for the low beam indicator! I wonder why they've opted to disable it.

  7. tI've had my new 1.2 TSI DSG Elegance now for a month, and I'm very very please with it. 1000 miles in and the fuel economy is starting to creep up, which is a relief!

I do have one little 'bug' though. When the headlights are on dip (in either auto mode or when the dial is manually turned) I have no indicator on the dashboard to confirm they are on (the usual green one from my previous SE spec model). It does have a working full beam blue indicator.

I dropped it in to Progress Bedford this morning and they've done a diag and said everything appears fine and suggested my particular model might not have this indicator (it seemed like they genuinely had no idea if it should or not).

So, my question, does anyone have an MY14 (I believe? Delivered late June) 1.2 Elegance spec who can confirm whether this indicator is indeed not present? I do wonder if the dealer is just wanting to avoid a potentially very time consuming piece of work to rectify the problem if it's missing/faulty.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. I wouldn't admit it to anyone at the time, but yesterday I wasn't sure I'd done the right thing changing to DSG and petrol. I think that was just getting used to change. After putting a hundred miles on it today.... wow, I'm so happy, the gearbox is incredible, and whilst it's not a fast car, it's most definitely not underpowered, that little 1.2 litre engine can do some amazing things! I realise you all already know this, but I just wanted to let you know I understand now

On another note, my previous SM is now available! It's over here for £16,450 at time of writing, so I feel pretty good about that, having got £15,775 on the part ex.

  9. Hey Marie, on collection my dealer told me it would apply to new orders only and that his Part Ex offer would have been much less generous on the new finance package. But I wouldn't entirely trust his word to be honest after the 12-speaker incident! So I'd definitely see if there's any movement if you can.

He actually had to ring up HQ to allow him temporary access to recalculate my finance based on the latest settlement figure on the old finance package, so it was definitely suspect!

  10. Hi,

Recently bought a pre-loved Yeti and I cannot see anywhere to remove the previous owners mobile details from the car config settings.   I have bluetoothed my mobile and all works fine - just annoying that it searches for the previous owners iphone everytime!

    Thanks for your help

Having just handed back my previous Yeti I thought I'd do this myself in case the dealer didn't! I tried the MFD reset and it wasn't enough, it just reset my central locking and time preferences! Resetting the Bluetooth devices (and it does just remove all paired devices) required going into Phone on the head unit and selecting the Factory Reset option in there (separate to the other Setup/Reset option which just reset station presets for me).

    Hope that helps!

  11. Just took a few pics, sorry for the poor quality, the Nexus 4 is a great phone but a terrible camera!

Day two impressions... changing to a DSG makes me more obsessed with which gear I'm in than I was before, but I'm guessing that will pass! Reverse parking using the break rather than clutch+accelerator is going to take a bit of getting used to. Does the Elegance leather interior give taller seats than the SE? Combined with the extra actual height over the Greenline I feel much taller than I expected!

My first petrol in 12 years... how many revs am I trying to stay under for the first 1000km?! Seems a whole lot harder to manage when the gears are doing their own thing!

  12. Sounds like it.

I presume he is paying for this upgrade and not you?

Yep, he's paying. I'll find out from the guy doing the install on Friday just how much vs what I've paid for the option. Sounded like it was quite a bit more expensive, but best check!

  13. Hi Steve

I picked up my 1.2 Elegance TSI DSG last Tuesday  also in Candy white with the spare wheel and heated screen with the 12 speaker sound system. So they must be compatible ???

Hmm, do we think my dealer's giving me some BS then? He just said it was a weight issue. Seemingly the system they're installing Friday is somewhat more expensive. We'll see!!

  14. Just home from the dealer with my brand new Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG Elegance in candy white

My first impressions of the DSG are mostly awesome, except for one blind bend I turn onto on the way home, where it pushed up a gear a little quicker than I'd like and made joining the main road a little scary! Maybe I'll try that in sport or manual next time!

Felt a little sad leaving my trusty Greenline behind.

One small screw up, turns out the 12 speaker sound system I ordered wasn't compatible with having the spare wheel and heated front screen (total weight issue), and the dealer had chosen without informing me to skip this option and keep the spare. Offered me the reduced cost or a more expensive third party system. So that's being installed on Friday!

I was surprised just how small the boot looks with the spare wheel in and the parcel shelf attached. I'm sure the dog will manage with a better view out of the windows though.

    I'll grab some pics soon.

  15. Not yet, the dealer said he should be able to confirm that when he calls back later today with the reg number. I'll be sure to let you know!

Just a follow up on this, got my registration number and have arranged the 7 day insurance to begin from Saturday at the dealer's recommendation. He doesn't have an exact date in the system yet for the transporter drop, but says it should be in the next few days.

  16. Have you been given an approximate collection date Steve?

  17. Just rang the dealer today for a build week (first time trying). Ordered on 25th April, 1.2 TSI DSG Elegance with some extras, build week currently 25 (w/c 17th June) and they said they expect it to be with them ready for collection about 3 weeks later. Much quicker than the 6 month wait I had for my current SM back in 2011!

Dealer rang this morning, my new Yeti is in the country! He's calling me back later today with my new registration number, so sounds like it should all come together very soon! Eeeeeeeeeeeee!

Now, just need to find the V5 and spare key for my current beastie!

I'm sure it'll find a loving new home soon enough. Greenline II SE 1.6 in candy white with added lumbar support, bluetooth integration and auto headlights/rain sensor pack. Just over 15k miles, 61 plate (delivered Oct 2011), soon to be available from Progress Bedford I imagine!

  19. Thanks for all the input guys. Been in today and revised my order to the DSG model after trying it out on an Octavia (all they had available with that box). Can't believe how smooth it is!

Had a bit of hassle as they've temporary withdrawn the SE Plus spec due to the Kristal interior being pulled, which is somewhat annoying as I really didn't care about that particular feature of the SE Plus spec. On the other hand, Andrew @ Progress Bedford managed to do me a cracking deal starting with the Elegance spec instead. Ever so slightly more expensive (but not much when you add in the DSG), hope it'll be worth it!

  20. Has anybody heard anything about a delay/closed ordering on SE Plus spec Yetis?

I'm looking to order a 1.2 DSG SE Plus, but the dealer can't order it due to a problem with the Kristal upholstery in the SE Plus?

Is this a known issue (and if so, how much of a delay is it) or nonsense?

Ordered an SE Plus Monday, was told today new orders can't be placed until May 27th at least. Got a cracking deal on an Elegance spec instead!

    So, for the record....

    Yeti Elegance 1.2 TSI DSG

    + 12 speakers

    + Heated windscreen

    + Spare wheel.

    Ordered 25/04/13.

  21. Ordered a 1.2 SE Plus this Monday, went in today to change my mind and add DSG. Salesman tells me he'd been meaning to call me because he'd seen a note in their system this morning saying the SE Plus trim is unavailable to order until at least May 27th due to phasing out of the Kristal interior. Did me a very good deal on the Elegance instead, including my addition of DSG, monthly payment only £9 more for the same term! Thumbs up to Andrew at Progress Bedford.

  22. Try these two links that may reassure you:

If you drive foot to the floor a lot of the time, then the 1.2 TSI is probably the wrong option. If not, I doubt you'll particularly notice the difference in terms of performance, just the way that performance is delivered.

Thanks, all sounds very promising. Everyone seems to rave about the DSG gearboxes, got me wondering if I should go try one out and see if I might want to revise my order!
