I asked for my car to be set up on the variable service, longlife interval as I do a lot of miles and will be handing the car back after the 3 year lease ends. I have driven about 3000 miles so far and the display in the car says an oil change is due in 7000 miles. Does it take awhile to calculate the interval or has my dealer set up the car on fixed interval servicing? Steve

Wheel alignment - am I asking too much
Steve vRS replied to Steve vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
It's a brand new car. The wheel is not a huge amount out so given there are what, 12 splines on the steering wheel shaft, one spline out would be 30deg out. The dealer has agreed I can take it to a specialist of my choice and they will pick up the tab. Steve -

Wheel alignment - am I asking too much
Steve vRS replied to Steve vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
LOL I know but on a 4 wheel set up, the wheels are aligned together. If the rear of the car is out, you have to constantly put some steering input in to correct this. STeve -
Almost as soon as I drove my new vRS, I noticed the steering wheel was slightly off centre. I was basically steering a little to the right to go straight on. After a week, I reported it to the supplying dealer and requested a full 4 wheel alignment be carried out. They agreed and booked it into their sister VW dealer who had the necessary equipment. It took 2 weeks for the appointment as the equipment was in demand.... So, I dropped it off yesterday and at teatime was told that they couldn't find anything wrong so would I mind if they took the car to a local independent specialist for checking. I said yes, go ahead. I have just driven the car home and guess what...the steering wheel now sits off centre to the left to go straight ahead!! What is most annoying is that someone must have driven the car from the third party back to the dealer and thought, 'this wheel is not straight!'. I assume everyone else's steering wheel is nice and central when driving straight ahead? Is this a known issue with the multi-link vRS set up? Steve

Quick thread resurrection, has anyone fitted a road bike in the boot with the rear seats up by taking the wheels off? Save me trying tonight Steve -

PCH...... the 'new' PCP?
Steve vRS replied to LeeHarrison's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
No, but if the monthly payments are low enough, then you can save up for your next deposit! In my case, the PCH was well over £100 cheaper per month than a PCP with the same initial payment (not a deposit as you don't get it back on either PCP or PCH) for the same mileage. Steve -
When I had an Impreza, the dealer did this for me a couple of times. When I last had a Skoda, I suggested this course of action to the service manager to get me mobile and he looked at me like I was stupid! Steve

Does it make that much of a noticeable difference? I've never been able to tell much change in the est drives I've had. I had a golf GTD for a weekend as an extended test drive (Skoda would only allow me an accompanied drive - lesson there SUK) and made my young children laugh by changing the modes. When in ECO mode, I'd talk like Neil from the Young Ones, and drive slowly with nice gentle steering inputs. I'd then stick it in Sport mode and start shouting, jabbing at the throttle and sawing at the wheel. I assume that this will become tiresome after 6 months in the vRS when we get it in April :D Steve

Octavia Scout Lease - A few questions...
Steve vRS replied to ultramagnetic's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
My deal is £1000 initial payment and then £330 per month for 35 months for 20k miles per year. Black, vRS Estate with black pack, tints, spare wheel and apple connection. Again, 7.2p per excess mile. the car will be at the dealers in a fortnight but I can't give back my co. car till the end of April so I'll take delivery then! It was a much quicker delivery than me or the dealer expected! Steve -
Octavia Scout Lease - A few questions...
Steve vRS replied to ultramagnetic's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I am leasing my new vRS estate through VW finance, arranged by my local Skoda dealer who confirm that the return of the car will be subject to the BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear guidance. I'm sure that the value of any returned PCP car would also be affected by any damage as well - although maybe with a bit more pragmatism if a new car is being purchased with the returned car used as a deposit. Octavia Scout Lease - A few questions...
Steve vRS replied to ultramagnetic's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Not with the current deals on vRSs and Scouts. I've just signed up for a vRS which was considerably cheaper per month than a PCP, even factoring in the initial payment. Of course, I'm not building up any equity for the next car which is the main advantage of PCP over lease. Steve -
Did you all go for white or has anyone tried the blue LEDs? Steve

Just ordered my third vRS
Steve vRS replied to Steve vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've gone black, red black. Petrol, diesel, diesel. Hatch, hatch, estate! Bought, co-car, personal lease. Steve -
This will mean I have had one of each mark! I've gone for a black TDi estate with the tints, black pack, MMI and spare wheel. Delivery in April in time to replace my 320D I'll miss the RWD but can't wait to listen to that lovely fake burble Steve

SD Cards and Random with the Bolero
Steve vRS replied to Steve vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
For the sake of a couple of pounds per month I've ordered the MMI. This will be my third vRS. I feel a new thread coming on! -
The last time I tried a car with an SD card reader was 4 years ago. It was in a Superb and the only random option was within the alum folder. On the latest Bolero, can you have a random selection that allows music to be played from different folders? I will be having the artist==>Album==>Song structure with a mainly MP3 files. Just need to know if I can make do with the SD reader or should delect the MMI option. Thanks Steve

DVD holder for VRS headrest
Steve vRS replied to Jollyroger's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
These might be an option if your player has loops on the back. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-X-velcro-Adjustable-Straps-Metal-Buckle-luggage-Strap-Tie-Down-Cable-Shed-Tidy-/281191229003?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Nails_Fixing_MJ&var=&hash=item41784da64b This is something that may stop me from getting a vRS bizarrely!
