  1. Saris Bones?

It just so happens I have one in my garage going spare for a reasonable offer.....

Well used 3 bike version, but one of the retainers is damaged so can only really carry 2 bikes.

The 3 bike version has an extra top leg to the 2 bike version so is more secure when fitted IMHO.

Funny you should mention that, that's exactly the one I just bought. It says its not compatible with my Superb though. :-(

  2. Be carefull. This happened earlier in the week at a car park at the Trafford Center in Manchester. The car was an Octavia and it went up in flames as the short caused a fire behind the dash!!! (I think I read it on the Manchester Evening News site)

Not sure what fuse it is but remove it ASAP so you don't have a fire!!!

Bl00dy Hell! I got the money out straight away, just need to figure out how to fix it... Cheers for the warning though.

  3. When I had a Touran with the same radio in, I found you could do two things 1. Create playlists of the albums or 2. rename all your tracks with the track number as the first characters in the filename. In the end I stuck all the files in one directory and had a separate directory with the playlists in. I used a free playlist creator (for PC) of the net.

Thanks that's worked nicely (even though it says in the manual that it doesn't support playlists). Just need to create a plylist for all my albums now!

    Cheers

  4. Just got a Samsung Galaxy S2 running the latest version of Android and that includes built in rSap, once you do the right authorisations it works a treat. No need for the android-rsap add in, seems quite a nice phone as well.

I have an 09 model Superb

Hi, I receieved by Skoda Suberb this morning and can confirm that the rSAP on my Galaxy S2 works fine. However, when I try to transfer the contacts it fails straight away. Anyone got any ideas as to why that muight be?

    Thanks

  5. That's good news as you've eliminated the most expensive bit (CCU).

First check the wiring where it passes from the 'A' pillar to the door. The wires are flexed everytime you open the door. The wires that fail most often are the thick Red/Yellow and Red/Brown wires which provide power to the door electronics. If you remove the lower trim on the 'A' pillar, it will reveal a set of connectors.

If it's not the wiring, then the next most likely cause is the control unit which is an integral part of the window motor. This controls the window, door lock, flashing LED, armrest controls, mirror control, mirror motors and mirror heating element. Unfortunately, the control unit is not available separately. The driver door lock control is usually the first to go.

Ok, I've had a go with a multimeter where the multiplug goes into the window motor. Both the red/brown and red/yellow wires have 12v going thru them. I'm having difficulty getting the panel by the a pillar off but am presuming if I have power by the window motor, the connection there is sound. I guess my next step is the window control unit, but before I do that, I'd like to check that power is going to the door mechanism. Is there a way of getting the door mechanism multiplug off without removing the mechanism itself?

    Thanks again.

  6. ccu faults can be intermittent, mine had same faults and had new regulator, then loom, the finally ccu to sort it

however you are correct it is the most expensive bit, so the last one to try and change like i said

door loom is around £100 - think i have a second hand one kicking around if you want to try it

Thank you, I may well take you up on it. I'm gonna have a rummage with a multimeter first though...

  7. Do the other doors lock/unlock when you use the switch on the driver's arm rest or the key in the boot/passenger side door?

If so, then it's not the CCU as all the door communications are working.

Yep, all the other electrics work fine. Don't have access to VAG-COM so am gonna take a multimeter to the wiring loom and see where that gets me.

    cheers

  8. water in drivers door mulitplug/or knackered ccu

take it apart and examine connector - then dry and refit.

searching the forum will yield loads of info - it is expensive to fix if not caught early enough

Right, I've had the panel off. The interior cable had snapped so thats easy enough to fix.

As for the central locking, I looked at the multiplug and it looked pretty dry and ok to me. I had a look/listen with the panel off unlocking/locking and the lock did try a couple of times (very feebly) and then stopped trying.

I'm gonna get a new lock mechanism but will this mean I need new keys?

    Thanks

  9. Hi Everyone,

It seems like I'm having the common door lock issues on my Mk1 TDI 110 estate.

    Things that don't work:

Remote lock/unlock doesn't work(works on all other doors).

Inside door handle doesn't work (feels like its not attached to anything).

Door LED doesn't flash when locked.

Manual locking of door very intermittent (feels worn??).

    Things that do work:

    Electric windows

    Electric wing mirror

Opening/Closing of windows if you hold key in place when turning.

My main concerns are the interior door handle and manual locking of door not working. Would replacing the lock mechanism fix these issues? I've read the sticky about the door lock microswitch but I don't think its just that.

Any advice/suggestions would be most welcome.

    Thanks

    James

  10. just download the workshop manulas if your good with computers you will be able to find themon the net

    Hi,

I've got the same issue. The red wire on the loom has corroded off and there seems to be more than one option to wire it back into. The best bet looks like the yellow wire on the autochanger but assumptions and electricity don't go well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

  11. If the pump/compressor (I'm presuming these are the same thing?) is knackered when they replace it do they have to re-gas the system again? I'm just trying to get an idea of how much this is gonna set me back...

    Ta

Oh and if anyone know anyone that does air-con repairs in merseyside, I'd be very interedted. Thanks.

  12. so does your aircon actually blow cold or not? you have not said.

I had a similar experience with quickfit they said there was no temp difference after recharging but it turns out they couldnt work my climatronic and the aircon was nice and cold after fiddling with it.

No it doesn't. Have a had a good fiddle with no success.

  13. Agreed.

Do you know the difference between an a/c pump, a PAS pump and an alternator? If so, you can check the a/c pump is turning over yourself; otherwise I'd look through Yellow Pages for an automotive air conditioning specialist near you.

Yeah I do, just point me in the right direction?

  14. I've just got back from Kwik-fit to get my A/C gas topped up/changed on my elegance estate TDI. When they looked at the car they found that although there were no leaks, the compressor wasn't kicking in(?) They say it looked like an electrical fault and have done the gas anyway at no charge.

When I flick the econ button on/off there is a definate blip in revs and when I look under the bonnet both the radiator fans spin up. Apart from that I don't know what to look for.

I have read threads about looking at a belt to see if the clutch is spinning but I can't see much cos there's bits in the way.

This is my first car with A/C so I'm a total novice, any suggestions on what to do next?

    Cheers
