I bought one of these to replace my interior lamp, but when I came to fit it the wire colours are different to the golf ones which all the fitting instructions are for. Does anyone know either what the 3 wires are, or let me know when goes to the corresponding pin in the w8 plug?
Cheers

redbaron, well the last option would be nice, small thing called funds though!
I have heard it chatter occasionally at low revs and wondered if something was wrong...
-
right best not then! re the noise was just interested in trying something different, but sounds a pretty stupid thing to do so wont be:rolleyes:
-
Had someone in the car over the weekend and heard the dv through my cai and said I should blank off the dv with a bung to make it chatter, what effect would this have?
When I first got the car the guys at work did it and did get chatter but took it out after a day as decided to get feedback first...

Where's the best point to tap into the line to measure the boost pressure? Having had a quick look' date=' there's a narrow dimeter pipe leading to the DV (probably not ideal) and and one near the throttle body.
I assume that you mean in the inside of the doors rather than in the mirror itself?[/quote']
Yes I do mean inside the doors! Where the stock tweeters were.
I tapped my dv from the fpr, take off the top cover and you will see at the front of the engine a circular thinkg on the right. From the back of that there is a pipe that comes off, not normal rubber but braided, I hooked mine up there...

put some pics up a few weeks ago showing my cheapo install to get me some bass until everything arrived to finish it all...
Well in the most part it has all turned up now apart from the screen for the carpc, annoying as I dont think I will get it moulded in time for the meet now:mad:
So until that arrives have installed all my wiring, jl300/2 for the front mids, alpine f200 for the tweeters and m200 for the infinity perfect 12 sub. (being replaced when I decide on what I want) Front componants are mb quart 216qms, which are sublime compared to my old focal 165v2s, so much smoother and laid back, focals were far too harsh.
Also got the alpine h700 processor up and running, not had time to tweak too much yet but will make my job a lot easier! The headunit will be ditched when the screen turns up and will run just the carpc, using optical to the h700 should give me a noise free setup...
Only thing I didnt have time to do was dynamat the doors which should make a decent difference, and also mould in the cd drive for the pc into the headliining...
Pics when the alcantara arrives from boyriven:D
Only problem now is that the a pillar pod I have is messing slightly with the imaging of the tweets so looking to put them elsewhere for now, probably in the mirror pods where the oem tweeters were...
-
having just got started on a new stereo install my a pillar pod is messing with the imaging so looking at making myself some pods in the wing mirror pods for the 2 I have...
-
as above, use some decent deadening on the doors (not just a layer of roof tape, try and spend osme money on dynamat extreme if you can. Otherwise another option would be JBL 6x9 subs on the rear shelf, note these are not normal 6x9s, wont should crap if they are amped but will add some depth to the music.
You could try a 8" sub in the passenger footwell, worked quite well in in my focus for a while, I made up a fibreglass box moulded to under the glovebox, with a grill over the top and then the carpet mats over that

I personally love my skoda being a skoda, mates laugh at me a lot for buying one, but then a few have had a drive and come back with a big grin on their face and quite shocked! The word is getting round now that it is actually a very good car and they are eating their words:)

not sure about the air/fuel meters but my oil temp was very simple to fit, just a little fiddly, it just replaced a bing ontop of the oil filter housing, just fiddly to get to...

Cool - will deffo look better when it matches the headliner. Not that easy to find gauges that match that backlights on the clocks is it I went for Defis.
I will eventually be going for defis but this is really a stop gap... Illumination is difficult, they supplied green leds but they were far too green, went back to the bulbs with a green filter over them but they are still not perfect, will keep looking for a better match!
Pod is from RGM, I bought it from speeding.co.uk but it needs a lot of work to get it to fit, not a problem really as I was having it recovered anyway...
-
Found these 2 whilst cleaning out the phone and thought I would post them up. The pod has now gone off to be flocked to match the headliner so more pics once it is back...

www.caraudiodirect.co.uk Never had a problem with them and bought a lot of stuff for me and from mates through them...

well I wish I was getting the economy that podwin managed with my car, I try not to let it drop below 1/4 of a tank anyway just in case, but the trip meter suggests I am doing in the region of 25 to 30 during my normal commute and various trips. Seeing as I have just got the boost gauge fitted and various people have been 'testing' it it has dropped a fair bit from that...
Got a trip down to cornwall this weekend so shall see what I can get out of it!
-
stiffer side walls so less flex and putting more stress on the rest of the car I would guess

imported one from the US for my focus and one of the best mods I ever did. Came with my 4x4 turbo and always use it, only time so far I have foloded it up was in a traffic jam on a steep hill where I had to keep using the handbrake which needs adjusting slightly...

mmm, interesting! will have a look into this! Thanks fellas

well they took it out for a blast and it was reading 1.5, shortened the actuator and blanked off the dv took it out again and it was reading 1.7... Having just been on the phone to one of them it seems their gauge reads .2 over so that would point to the jabba rempa having been at 1.3, then up to 1.5...
It certainly seemed faster with it shortened, only way to find out is to try it again with my new gauge in for a short time and see if it make s difference...
More than getting more power out of it and I am simply interested in experimenting. I don't want the car to go bang, but it is nice to see what things do!
-
they shortened the actuator. Might try tweaking it up a little bit and see what the results are...

I am lucky enough to have driven the rs4 and rs6 quite a lot as my grandmother has had both, lovely cars and the rs6 just sounds to die for:) Dogs never liked it in the back though with me driving...
Her excuse for needing the power? I am getting old and so if I pull out from a junction and didnt see something I need power to get out quickly:eek:
-
is that just on the jabba remap? Mine was turned up by some guys at work and I worried so turned it back down but wasnt sure how far to go... Just want to get it back to the jabba standard...
Cheers

Got round to fitting my boost gauge today and was just wondering what other people see on theirs? Mine is in psi, spikes occasionally to 16 but holds 14psi. This is on a Jabba remapped car...
So what does yours do?! No pictures as of yet as having got the a pillar pod to fit it is being sent off to be flocked... hate fake carbon fibre!
-
if you dont want ground shaking bass and just a bit more bottom end I would be tempted with some 6x9 subs I hate recommending 6x9s but some manufacturers do some fairly decent ones. The other option that I had very briefly in my old focus was an 8" in the footwell in a small fibreglass enclosure, a grille over the top with carpet over that so it never got damaged by a passenger. Added some depth. If you choose your crossover frequencies right then the bass can be non directional so you woulndt know it was coming from there...
food for thought

I will be trying to install my starter button and relocating the hazard switch over the weekend does anyone know where I can find some wiring diagrams to help with this?
Cheers
Remaps on 95 ron
in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Posted
my 4x4 was remapped by jabba to 215, 95 ron fuel and with reliability in mind so the last owner (Podwin) told me...
Does run better on 97 ron or above though, so use that now but never seemed 'bad' on 95, just better now!
