  1. Worked on my MIB2 Columbus, ta! Mine were the 2016 maps previously.
  2. Can I ask how much they cost? Was it the anti lift kit? Might be next on my mod list ...
  3. Yeah, it's got plenty of poke now! Struggling to get the power down at the moment, but that's a mixture of torque, wet weather and the rubbish Pirellis it has on as standard ... Which are pretty worn now.
  4. I'm using Sainsburys super unleaded (97RON). But mine's a remapped VRS 230
  5. I saw an 'M120d' the other day ... actually made me laugh out loud.
  6. Yep, that's mine! Just missing the black spoiler at the moment. Took the rubbish vinyl job off and just trying to find someone to fit my new black one Gotta love Shark - the map's awesome. So much torque!
  7. Could be worth it - I think it usually costs more for a "custom" map, but they had the time on Monday to put mine on the dyno etc which was great. That wasn't the final run either, they tweaked it again for the 288bhp / 467Nm figures on the printout. Can't hurt to ask them though, especially if you've got your intake and a turbo back exhaust as it'll be a proper map for your car. Edit : And I did hear them mention to someone that they'll hold the price for June if you book in May.
  8. The DSG box seems fine to be honest - I discussed it with the guys at Shark as this was my main concern before going ahead with the map ... General consensus is that it can take an absolute beating and is fine up to around 500NM. The only thing that'll damage the 'box is full launches from standstill or driving with absolutely no mechanical sympathy. There's a number of highly tuned VAG 2.0 TFSI's running with the same box for tens of thousands of miles without any issue, like the Revo stage 3 VRS which is running the same box just with modified software. Shark believe their dyno is slightly conservative and mentioned on the day that all dynos are different. Obviously figures can be massaged for willy-waving purposes, but why claim it's running 288bhp when others are offering 300+? There's quite a few records of these engines running quite a lot more power at standard than quoted; I think there was even another 230 on here somewhere that read out at 240bhp on a different dyno. Golf GTis are renowned for running about 10bhp above manufacture quoted figures, as are the R's and Cupra 280/290s, albeit with their different turbo etc. Even the dirty diesels seem to be running above stock figures I used Shark because they go for usable performance rather than pub bragging rights and ultimate peak figures - and it shows. The map I've had on this car, and the Shark map I had on my Fabia VRS many moons ago are fantastic. The peak power promised on the maps are always slightly lower than the likes of Revo and APR, but as you've said it's about how they drive. One map might have higher peak power than another, but the power curve may not be as efficient, and therefore could actually be slower than the lesser powered car. This is in no way a sleight on any other tuner's maps or figures etc as I've ran Revo maps on previous cars and they're great. When choosing my map I almost used Revo / Oscarli, but ended up with Shark as I'd used them before and trust them to deliver a fantastic map (plus the 25% discount swung it). Ben and the team are legends. Also their show car is a MK3 Octavia, so you know it's a had a lot of development. Oh, and 97 RON, they reckoned it'd increase slightly again on 99. You're more than welcome to come and have a go if you want to!
  9. My car's on the Shark Performance Facebook page
  10. DSG And yep, caught the sale. They're honouring the sale price throughout June as well I believe, as long as you book in May. Well worth it, very knowledgeable guys, and the map's great. For £375 you can't go wrong.
  11. Quick update - remapped today by Shark Performance and very happy with the results. I've put the dyno graphs in my project thread.
  12. Yeah, it'll be a few months yet ... Got the spoiler to do, plus it needs new front tyres, which will be sped up after the map. And I really should spend some money on other things than the car :-) I did just buy myself the Lego Ghostbusters Fire House, but I don't think that counts. I had the sound aktuator turned off today to see how happy I am with it as standard.
  13. I definitely would - they really know their stuff. Tempted by the scorpion too, but probably just cat back for me! And yes, I'm certain they'll do a custom map. It'd be worth getting an improved intake if you haven't already - I think an intake and turbo back exhaust are all that's needed for 'stage 2' on these.
  14. Nope, didn't bother in the end, and quite glad I didn't stump up the extra cost. It feels standard when driving normally / gently, so I'll just give it the normal mechanical sympathy so as not to massively increase wear.
  15. So, driving: The car drives really well, it's like a VRS++ now, so its testiment to the amazing job Shark have done. It's perfectly controlled, smooth and linear, and doesn't feel like it's too much for the car. Most of my journey back was on the motorway, so didn't have many opportunities to stretch its legs, but it feels a LOT more eager a higher speeds which is where I felt it lacked before. Where I did have the chance to 'give it some' it felt a hell of a lot stronger through the gears, overtaking slow moving traffic with ease and making them disappear into the rear view mirror much quicker than expected. MPG wasn't affected either, actually returned better mpg on the way back than the way there, though obviously over a 50+ mile trip there's loads of factors which can contribute to this. Massive thanks to the guys at Shark Performance today, amazing work with the map and the free dyno runs! This is the second car I've had mapped with them and couldn't be happier. Much happier with a car that drives brilliantly rather than going after willy-waving figures. Oh, and look out for my car on their Facebook page - they recorded it on the dyno before tweaking the map further; I think they're posting the video soon. Next on the list is getting my 'proper' black spoiler fitted. I've taken the black vinyl off my spoiler as it was peeling badly - it now appears that the clowns who wrapped it also scraped a load of paint off it. Never mind, my Black Magic spoiler arrived today from SuperSkoda, now I just need to find someone to fit it!
  16. And here we have it! Blanked my details out as you can see ... The car handles the extra power amazingly well - as the dyno readout shows it's gone from 241bhp standard to 288bhp, and from 380Nm torque to 467Nm. So as standard it was already a fair bit above quoted figures (230bhp / 350Nm).
  17. Due to a slight delay on my part I'm at Shark today having the VRS remapped. Dyno'd at 241bhp as standard. I'll post the before / after dyno maps and impressions later when I get home. Also had the sound aktuator turned off, and looked into the diff settings. Left the diff as standard for the moment!
  18. Good luck :-) And if you want it to look like the press photo just get some Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Lowers it by about 10mm at the rear and 20mm at the front. I've got them on my white VRS with 19s and it looks great. Plus it doesn't have a negative effect on ride comfort / usability, but improves confidence in the handling massively.
  19. I'm pretty sure you can buy both the wheel (18") and the toolkit from eBay. Wheel was around £120 last time I looked, and the kit's around £40. Not sure how it all fits in, but I assume you take out the polystyrene box that's there at the moment.
  20. Yep, this. Sorry, been out watching Guardians of the Galaxy 2 at the IMAX. It was awesome.
  21. Yep, but it doesn't return it to 'pure' factory due to md5 checksum checking etc ... So even if I flashed it back to the stock map it would still show up as changed. Hence why I'm not bothering with the switchable map any more, I'm just going with a map from a company I've used before and trust, and who are known for making mechanically sympathetic maps. Plus the 25% off really helped!
  22. Quick update : booked in at Shark Performance on May 13th for a stage 1 remap. £375 including the current 25% discount
  23. Took the plunge and booked in with Shark today, taking up their offer of 25% off all remaps making it £375. I've used Shark before and trust them, so looking forward to Sat 13th.
