  1. Haven't posted in ages, almost 8 months now since I picked up my car and 12k miles done. The car hasn't missed a beat and I'm delighted with it :) it's just a really good all rounder. I find I mostly cruise along but it's great to have effortless overtaking and the possibility of some spirited driving on the right road.

    Best bits;

Strong performance, fun and easy to drive with a nice gearchange.

    LED headlights

Infotainment + Canton - Brilliant, Apple Carplay with Google Maps on the large screen is lovely.

    Worst bits:

Sound generator, especially since it caused a really irritating vibration in the dash. Turned it off after a few days.

Exhaust makes a pretty nice sound when revved hard but I wish it was a bit more exciting like the i30N. I guess it's in keeping with the character of the car.

  2. Much more lax here, I usually try to stay within 20km/h of the limit on roads with 100 / 12km/h limits. I would never speed on a road with a limit lower than that, too risky in terms of cars pulling out of junctions etc.

FYI the punishment for getting caught doing 100mph on a motorway here is only 3 points and 80 euro fine!

I think Skoda have been absolutely brilliant and very generous with the compensation they have offered related to delays. Some of us secured great deals on the 245 at the time of order so it's surprising they are bending over backwards to keep us happy. Really impressed.

Agreed, I bought on PCP with a significant discount. When it became clear that the car would take a while to come they looked after me. I won't say exactly what I got but it was worth over 1k to me. Picking up Saturday 24 weeks after ordering!

Dont VAG cars come to the UK and then trucked over to Dublin? They certainly used to as I’d often see transporters in Holyhead heading over to Dublin.

Can vary as far as I know. There is a car carrier coming from Emden to Dublin early next week. What makes ship cars out of Emden?

Fair enough. I'd love to go for the ceramic coating, but opted for LifeShine (for £99) interior and exterior, mainly as I am leasing it for two years and I want the interior protection thanks to my 3 yr old. I'm hoping to buy it at the end of the lease though, so may investigate get it done then, from what I have heard the right coating and detailer and it can last 5 years?

Yep that's right, 5 years is about the max you'd get out of it. The issue with getting it done down the line is that much more work will be needed to get the paint right before the coating goes on.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you - you really would have expected it to have been on a ship by now! I wonder if there is a backlog? I’m frustrated enough as it is, but hopefully it will move again soon. I’m simply bored of waiting now!

Probably a case of less frequent boats to Ireland for me. To be honest after waiting 5 months already a few weeks extra to delivery seems nothing!. Should have it in 3 more weeks maximum. I'm thinking of getting a ceramic coating done though so i'll be collecting it, driving it straight to the detailers and handing it over for 4 days

Car built early and on the way to the port

Week 18 became week 13 only this week but they ended up building it a week early. Hopefully have it this day 3 weeks depending on shipping schedules.

1 week later, no idea yet when it's shipping from Emden. I've decided also to have ceramic coating applied so that'll add another 3-4 days to the wait. 21 weeks and counting.

It'll all be worth it in the end hopefully!

I am very tempted by this car, I'm 48 and this would be my first ever petrol car, I know the book is closed but I have found two 245 cars I could go and test drive with very low milage, The problem for me is neither have DCC or Canton. I would have speced both these but am I right in thinking they are a deal breaker and I should just wait and order new or should I test drive and see?

cheers for any advice, sorry if this has already been discussed in detail 102 pages is ...... well

I'd wait, it shouldn't be long more before it becomes clear what it's happening the MY19 specs.

Had a message from my dealer to say he has good news on my production slot. It was wk18 so fingers crossed it will be built pretty soon.

Gonna give him a call back tomorrow to find out new week.

BW13 confirmed for me now, came forward from BW18. Should have the car end of April, the end is in sight finally :)

First time poster, ordered 27th October 17, confirmed 30th October , red, manual,  no extras. Ordered from the Skoda retailer of the year 2017. Originally down as BW2, due 12/2/18, that moved to BW12, got a courtesy car as over 18 weeks from order is classed as delayed. I checked online yesterday and found BW13, and today, no surprises on the phone with customer service it's moved to BW18 !!!! That's 6 months for a Skoda! Customer services claim it depends on the dealership quota for that month when ordered. I tried to explain that a month is just over 4 weeks, not 6 build weeks. I really do despair, but apparently I will get a goodwill gesture on collecting my car. That's if I can remember where and when I ordered it from.

Mine is also down for BW18, hopefully there's a few RHD models being built that week then!Insert other media
