  1. Hi I had a similar problem with my daughters car. I found a good guide to allow me to fix it. Search "Wipers wont turn off" as one of my posts.
  2. The outside temperature gauge has been reading OK.
  3. HI, We had a good look at all of the pins and they did look OK including pin 32.
  4. Hi, I got the cluster out and all the solder joints looked OK. But I got my son to resolder No.15 pin but unfortunately this made no difference. I remember reading that this problem can be caused by a bad earth to the fuel level sensor. And the fix I believe is to link the sensor earth to the earth of the fuel pump. I will investigate this. The image below shows the pins after pin 15 has been re-soldered.
  5. The fuel gauge pin is apparently No. 15 and in this video the guy just lifted/bent the bezel out of the way. Surprisingly getting to the internals of the cluster looks quite easy compared with most dashboard related jobs.
  6. Hi Breezy_Pete, Many thanks for replying. I have done some more searching and your suggestion re dry soldered joints looks very likely. I found the following video which covers cluster removal and repair. My son is a dab hand at soldering so hopefully he can help me out. So again, many thanks.
  7. Hi, Unfortunately it is not fixed. I think there is a wiring issue. When I fitted the new sensor it seemed to work OK for short while and then again was erratic. I fitted a replacement pump and sender unit and have the same problem so thats why I think there is a wiring issue.
  8. Hi, I know this is an old topic I have a very similar problem to you. Erratic gauge reading, often reading zero but the empty tank warning doesn't come on. Did you ever manage to fix your problem? And has anyone else got any suggestions?
  9. Hi, I recently had a problem where the fuel gauge showed empty even though the tank was half full. This I sorted out by removing the pump and level float sensor from the tank and fitting a new float level sensor. The sensor I bought from AutoDoc for about £12 plus about £10 postage. It came from somewhere in the EU and I was inmpressed with the service from AutoDoc. The part arrived within a week and was very well packed for what is quite a delicate part. The part was fairly easy to fit. The only tricky bit was disconnecting the electrical connectors from the sensor and from the new part (it came with connectors and wires attached). Once the connectors were disconnected the existing wires/connectors were made up to the new sensor. There are several YouTube videos which show how to remove the pump and sensor unit from the car. I trust this helps someone.
  10. Hi, I trust someone can help. I have a 2012 Mk 2 1.6TDI Octavia. And over the weekend after a journey of about 80 miles, the glowplug light started to flash and the engine had virtually no power! It didn't even go to "limp home mode". I just about coasted off the road onto a side road and turned the engine off. After a minute or so I restarted the engine and the engine then seemed to run OK again. The glow plug light was not flashing. I resumed my journey and reached my destination OK. I did an engine scan and this gave me the error code P020300 Cylinder 3 Injector Circuit Intermittent. I disconnected the electrical connector to No. 3 injector and that looked clean and in good condition. I cleared the fault code and did another scan and the fault did not reappear. Yesterday I drove home about 100 miles and had no issue with the engine and when I rescanned there were no fault codes. I have read that the injectors on these engines can need replacing and that the injectors are quite expensive. (Typically £400 + vat each) So I only want to replace injectors if really necessary. Has anyone had a similar experience and does the fault re-occur more frequently? Can it be an electrical problem with the wiring? All help, suggestions or comments welcome. Many thanks in advance.
  11. Hi, I had a similar problem with the alarm going off. I decided just to remove the alarm. This I did and can confirm that it doesn't activate any dash warning lights. So this is an option if anyone doesn't want to go to the expense of replacing the alarm.
  12. Hi, As mentioned in my post. The kit including vat was approx £900 (UK pounds) and total including labour was about £1265. 2000euro for the kit doesn't look correct. You can search on the part number for the kit (6V0198406), Hope you sort it OK.
  13. Hi, The flywheel was getting noisier and noisier. Very much a clanking noise during tick-over. So I have now had the flywheel clutch etc replaced with the Skoda modification kit. This includes a solid mass flywheel, all clutch parts and a replacement driver's side drive shaft with CV joints. This kit is pt.no. 6V0198406 cost approx £900 incl vat from TPS. The job cost about £1265 at a VAG independent garage. My local Skoda dealership wanted nearly £2000. The car is certainly a lot quieter and smoother now.
  14. Hi, I just removed mine. This didn't produce any warning lights.
  15. Hi, I meant to add that the car is 2015 1.4TDI and had done about 85,000miles.
  16. Hi, I know this has been covered before in this forum but would like to have some updated costs and thinking. So any help/comments will be gratefully received. My Fabia has had a rattle comming from the clutch area which a RAC guy and garage says is from the Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF). The noise started about 6months ago but hasn't got noticeably worse since. There is a clear rattle at tick-over which disappears when the clutch is depressed. I took it to our local garage to get it replaced but they thought it was not bad enough to replace just yet and to do the replacement when it got appreciably worse. Also they said it would be fairly expensive maybe up to £1500. Apparently TPS quoted something like £800 for the kit which included a solid flywheel, a drive shaft and the clutch parts. They said that this was a modification kit and after the replacement the car would need a software update which involved increasing the tick-over revs. However this kit was not available at the time and because of this and the cost decided to delay replacement for a while. However has anyone had the DMF replaced in a 1.4TDI recently and if so what was the cost and were VAG parts or OEM parts used? Was a solid flywheel fitted and was a software update carried out giving an increase in tick-over revs?
  17. Hi Pete, Many thanks for quick reply. It appears you are correct that removing the alarm is OK and does not cause problems. This afternoon I decided to remove the alarm. Not too difficult. It is under the wheel arch trim on RHS of car behind the front wheel. After removing the alarm all seems good. I don't get any warning lights and now can lock the car. I will investigate getting a replacement (or replacing the internal battery) or maybe leave it as it is.
  18. Hi, I trust someone can help. I have this error "01134 - Alarm horn Lower limit not reached" From what I have read it is because the battery in the alarm has low voltage so unit needs replacing. At the moment whenever we lock the car the alarm goes off so have to leave the car unlocked. Can I just disconnect and remove alarm while I work on getting this fixed? Will this cause any other problems? Any help/comments gratefully received. PS the car is a 2012 Octavia Mk2 1.6 TDI
  19. Hi, As title my wipers are working intermittently. I am thinking it's the wiper switch (wiper stalk) that is faulty. Is this likely? Can the switch contacts be cleaned? Is there a "how to" to show how this is done? Many thanks for any replies.
  20. Hi, I have found quite a good video which shows a faulty coolant pump being replaced by a non-switchable pump. Also demonstrates that the sleeve gets stuck in the position that shuts off the pump.
  21. Hi, I have now found this video which is for a Polo but I believe is for a very similar engine. Mine is a CUSB & the Polo is a CUSA.
  22. Hi, My daughter's Fabia had similar problem but the front wipers wouldn't turn off. This was caused by copper filings shorting between contacts in the wiper switch. I found a good guide to dis-assemble switch and clean. Now all works fine. Look at my post at the end of last year. I hope this helps you. Regards
  23. Hi, Does anyone know of a "How To" to change the timing belt & pump on a Mk3 1.4TDI. Many thanks in advance for any help. Regards
  24. Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yes the car is Mk2 Euro5. The EGR was replaced about 18 months ago so unfortunately outside the guarantee. However the fault has only happened 3 times and otherwise the car runs fine. Possibly some intermittent electrical fault? The EGR is hidden at the back of the engine underneath the turbo. So difficult to get at. I have a code reader so I was wondering if I could still get useful data from the history live data, that might point towards the cause?
  25. On my 2012 1.6TDI , I have recently had the flashing glowplug warning light come on and this gives a fault code of P040300. This has happened 3 times in the last couple of months and the last time it happen was nearly a month ago and happened twice on the same journey. Each time on reading the fault it gave P040300 Exhaust Gas Valve Recirculation Valve Circuit Intermittent. Has anyone any thoughts on what might cause these faults? It has been suggested that I can still read useful "live data" about the fault if the fault has not been cleared. I have not cleared the fault so what useful live data might be available to indentify cause using an OBD reader? I welcome any suggestions/comments.
