  1. Hello, and thank you all for your support. Apparently my local mechanic has finally fixed it. The original MAF sensor was faulty, it was just bad luck it happened to me. And because my Roomster is a fairly new model (2012), it required a different procedure my mechanic was not familiar with. I asked him what error code it was, and all he said was a MAF sensor error code, no number. I didn't insist. On the other hand, as he did have a bit of trouble fixing it, and it took him a couple of days to figure it out, he did not charge me the extra time. He now knows how it's done on the new models too, so we are both happy. According to him, on older cars you just changed the sensor, reset the fault codes, and that's it. The tolerances were much broader. But in newer cars you have to do a calibration process by driving the car with a computer plugged in, and according to some parameters you have to adjust some other parameters. Due to new european emision regulations, tolerances are so tight that you have to perform a vehicle per vehicle calibration to meet these new standards. If you don't, you'll keep getting an engine error code in the dash board. There's really nothing wrong with the car, it'll work fine, it just isn't as efficient as the new laws require. I hope my Roomster does not fail again. Thank you again for your help.
  2. Thank you. My mechanic told me the error code was a MAF error code (there are a few, he did not specify). I'm taking him the car again this afternoon, he's going to try and send the MAF sensor back for a refund (doubt he'll get it though), and he's going to check all the air intake system (don't know why he didn't do that first). I have read quite a bit around the internet, and it could be a whole lot of things (bad air filter, air leaks, bad connections, cracked pipes, faulty turbo, .....). In my case it is not the MAF, it would be a huge coincidence that both MAF sensors were bad. I'll keep you informed as time goes on. If somebody else has any idea about what could be going wrong, we would love to hear it. Thank you very much.

Nice to be back to the forum after some time. The problem we have is a flashing glowplug light in the dash that appears every day or two. We had it diagnosed at a local mechanic as a faulty MAF sensor, had that changed for a new one (200€ repair), but it's still happening. The car is out of guarantee, the dealer that sold us the car has closed down(due to the crisis I expect), and the nearest skoda dealer isn't too near really. We have inspected all the air pipes, no apparent holes or anything, and we still get the MAF sensor error code. Any idea? It's not the brake lights either. Thank you."

  5. Solved! I think I did the best thing in the end. I went to a Seat dealer I just happened to pass by, gave him the reference numbers, and I ordered some 4.8mm fuse box terminals. I'll collect them on Monday. The only catch is you can't buy just one because they come in packs of five, and it cost me eleven euros and fifteen cents. So I have four left over for future expansions. I went to the scrap yard before hand, and they wouldn't bother in getting one cable out, they offered the entire fuse box, and even though it might have been good value for money, it was more expensive than just the new cables, and I really didn't need a whole fuse box for anything at all. So that's my story. On Monday I'll have my parking sensors fully installed with their own dedicated fuse in the fuse box. And, as I mentioned earlier, I can add an extra fuse for a 12V plug in the boot I was planning as well. Thanks KBphoto for yor time. I hope you recover soon.

  8. Well very good job. I've been looking around ebay all morning and haven't found the exact part. The thing is, will those terminals you have spotted fit snuggly inside the fuse box? I'm not too fond of crimping, I always prefer soldering when possible, but that's just me. I still haven't pulled my fuse box apart so I don't know what it's like inside. And I've seen many on the internet but none like mine. I had also thought of passing by the scrap yard this evening, maybe I could get an entire fuse box cheaply (or free). But even so, the ebay price you pointed out may well be worth taking the risk. It's the waiting for the parcel to arive that bothers me;-) Thanks again mate! You are really doing your homework.
  9. Hey thanks! Nice to get an answer so quick. Well yes, I think we are both in similar positions. My fuse box physically has the metal terminal with 12V on it, it is missing the second terminal. Thanks to your link, I guess I could look around, maybe ebay, and get the necessary bit of wire with a terminal on the end. In the worst case, I can modify a fuse and make my own connector, but it won't look as neat.
  10. Hi! I just installed a parking sensor kit to my roomster. Had a fair bit or work getting all the cables back and forth, but it's nearly finished. I checked my fuse box, and I found that fuse 10 is available and not used by anything, it powers on with the ignition and turns off when the car is off. The problem is that it is missing one metal contact where I would have to attatch the power cable that goes straight to the parking sensor control box. Does anyone know what I have to do? Do I need to purchase a special part or something? Is it easy? Do you recommend something else instead? While I was at it, I was thinking of adding an extra 12V power plug in the boot as well. I do not want to put a tap into any other fuse if at all possible. Thanks.

  12. Doesn't anybody know how the lighting system works? Or what the maximum safe load the rear foglight can stand? Would it stand two bulbs in parallel?
  13. Thanks guys for your answers and such a warm welcome. The corner lights can't be turned on with the software at my skoda dealers, at least not yet (maybe his version is old). And my rear foglight can't be activated using vag-com beacuse it hasn't got a cable going to it. The bulb's there, but simply no cable. I will have a go at running a cable to it after I figure out what the maximum load for the other fog light is, as I believe skoda's have a light controller with maximum and minimum current ratings for every output (But I still haven't found this out yet, it's just a suspicion).
  14. For anybody interested, I recieved my parking sensor kit a couple days ago. The colour Beige capuchino from Skoda code 4k4k is remarkably similar to the "CISBO champagne colour parking sensors". (Got them from ebay) In fact I could hardly tell the difference in sun light. I don't think painting the sensors is worth it at all given the similarity. I hope this information is of help to others. Cheers!
  15. Hi! Thanks for answering. Well, basically I would just like to inform myself how it works on my roomster. I just have the standard headlights, but I do have a feature that warns you if a bulb is burnt or not. I have a Kia too, and in that car you can't replace the bulbs for leds because it insists in warning that the bulb is out, when it really isn't. My projects for the roomstar are still in the planning stage, until I get all the necesary information. But just so as you get an idea here are the basic ideas that are bouncing around in my head: 1- Installing parking sensors (they have to be connected to the rear lamps). Consumption is low, I doubt this will be a problem, but, of course, I don't know. 2- Making the other rear fog light work. I'm not sure if cabling it in parallel with the working one is a good idea as that implies doubling the load. 3- Adding a 12V connector plug in the boot. 4- Changing the boot light for something brighter as the factory one is really really poor. 5- Adding a light underneath the radio so as to see what's there during the night. At the moment, that area is totally dark at night, which makes looking for things more tricky while driving. This light I only want it to work when the headlights are on. 6- I might change the roof interior lights for leds, but this isn't exactly a priority at the moment. Before I start doing these things, I am trying to gather as much info as possible. If anybody can help that's be great. I've read already read threads about similar projects to mine. I am mainly interested in how the lighting system box works which I suspect my new roomstar has. I am in no hurry in performing these mods as it is brand new and is still under guarantee.
