  1. Can anyone recommend a tyre make? Im reading mix reviews about the Bridgestone turanzas I was going to buy. I'm after comfort and low road noise. Just wondering what other members have put on their cars and how they have found them.
  2. HI all, Thanks for the great responses. By the look of things, it doesn't seem like the £250 saving is worth the extra hassle. Will probably stick to the original fitment and bite the bullet.
  3. Hi all, Apologies if this has already been discussed, I did try searching the forum and not found anything specific to my case. Looking at buying some Bridgestone Turanza's 6 for my car. My car is a Skoda Superb 2.0tdi L&K 2016 Price for 4 tyres 235/45/18 is £510 from Costco (This is what is currently on the car and the correct tyre) Price for 4 tyres 225/40/18 is £265 from Costco. Now my cheap ass is thinking, that's nearly half the price off. IS this a terrible idea? will it spoil the drive of the car. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. After lots of googling, I have found these. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266972881984?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=kdUQhTEzSla&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=bcWtW1pzQx6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP probs buy these.
  5. Can someone double check this for me https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ridex/8052105 Is it too good to be true? OE numbers do match up.
  6. Hi all, Thanks to Breezy_pete for confirming part numbers. Mines are the electronically controlled ones Part number 3Q0 413 031AK
  7. So reading on other forums I believe mines are DCC as I have 5 different modes of driving styles. The extra one being the comfort mode. I believe the extra option is only available on cars with DCC. Also can someone tell me what DCC stands for. I could be wrong though, so is there anyway of checking apart from taking the shock absorber out?
  8. The dampers (shock absorbers) are £400 plus vat each. I can't afford that at the moment. Yes I know it's worth getting it all done at the same time, but that's just too much. A check on euro car parts comes up with Munroes for £123 but it says it comes Without Electronic Suspension Control. I'm assuming they not the right ones. Can anyone point me in the right direction with the dampers (shock absorbers)
  9. Hi, I'm definitely changing the top mounts. Was just wondering if oem or after market would be better. Ill probably go with the after market. Mechanic has quoted £120-140 to do both sides.
  10. Spoke to TPS, They have quoted 108.74 including VAT on trade price for the mounts. for both sides 57.02 including vat for bearings for both side Parkers have quoted £48 for both sides, forgot to ask what make it was. And it comes as one assembly to mount and bearing. Any suggestions anyone??
  11. Would you also recommend any after market Mounts + Bearings? Or best to stick with OEM.
  12. Ok, Makes a little more sense after looking at MartiniB previous post. Quick question, I can't seem to find the mounts for 5WA 412 331 A online. Is it a dealer only part? Same with the bearing 5Q0 412 249 E Thanks (I don't know how to change the colour back)
  13. Thanks for the help, Looking at the list for the mounts, Does it have to be the '5q0 412 331 e' that I need for my car or will the others work? I mean the letters at the end, so will '5q0 412 331 D' do the job or will it cause issues?
  14. I didn't check. It's too dark now, will have a look tomorrow. I only mentioned struts thinking if I'm replacing the springs might as well do the struts.
  15. So, didn't need to take the wheel off. Just lifting the car with a jack gave me clear view if spring. First pic is off unbroken spring. The dots are blue and grey. The second and third spring is the broken spring. Same dot colour. So now that I know what colour the dots are, what's the next step? Forgot to add,it's a hatch back with a dsg gearbox. 150bhp Thanks

  17. I can do that but my concerns are If the spring has been replaced in the past,it might not have the correct spring fitted on currently. Also read something about the weight rating. Made no sense to me but the gist was the hardness of the spring. I'll take the wheel of now and see what coloured dots it has.
  18. Hi all. Was driving back home and heard something snapping. Stopped the car and found a piece of broken off spring. Trying to figure out what replacement I need and I can't make sense of all the different info on the web. Can someone please tell me what springs I need or how to find out. The car is a superb 2016 2.0tdi FWD hatchback laurin and klement with no tow bar. I just want standard springs, maybe replace the strut mounts whilst I'm at it. I can provide the VIN number if needed. Thanks
  19. Hi I've currently repaired my broken one using metal epoxy. It seems solid. Il try that first, see how it goes. Thanks for letting me know, if my fix fails I'll pm you.
  20. After some more research it seems that the spring needs to be pressed down and the silver clip turned somehow. I've given up on trying to take the spring out as it's under alot of force and things can go horribly wrong, unless someone knows exactly what to do. I'm going try glue the brackets together using metal epoxy glue and somehow reinforce it.
  21. That was just a temp repair so I could drive the car back home. Just needs a clean up. I tried using silicone to try hold the mirror in place. Still sat here trying to figure out how to take the metal clip off.
  22. Or further disambely the metal bracket is broken. Is it possible to swap that bracket out ?
  23. Hi, Thats the plan, to swap the parts over. It's just i'm trying to figure out how to take the clip out that's sitting on the spring. I'm referring to the second picture. It's the plastic bracket part that's broken on the original mirror. Is there like a special tool I need to unwind the clip ?
  24. Hi All, I've had a door mirror bracket broken and as mine is a L&K it has full options including heating and anti glare. I've replaced it over the weekend with a standard door mirror but have now lost lane assist and rear view assist. Trying to source a like for like mirror is difficult, cannot find one on ebay. I was wondering, if only the bracket part is broken, is it possible to switch the wiring loom and all the other parts out. If you look at the second photo I've managed to strip the mirror down. The part I'm stuck on is how to separate the two sections. The silver looking thing seems like it is screwed down on to a spring. Is there a way to take it off? I'm trying to swap the brackets over. Thanks
