  1. Well its been a pain so far (my hands are cold) but finally made a start and got the pipes in place. Filled with water and there wasn't a good enough seal so tightened the bolt up some more and the pipes are holding water. Now to attach the rest of the system and see if it works under pressure. Wish me luck

  2. I've been looking into changing my clutch and dmf and found this;

    Now my question is, will this be oem? If not is it gonna be cheap and fail on me after a short period of time?  I only ask because the part numbers on darkside's website don't line up with the part numbers on Vag-Cat, but I know the standard clutch is made by Sachs?!?

  3. I haven't got the know how to swap out engine and gearbox, never really done more than change the oil myself. Luckily now I'm commuting by bike so I'm thinking just keep it parked up and fix what I can when I can. Seeing a I'm not doin such high mileage anymore I'm thinking of getting a petrol (for the first time)

  4. So I've been putting off doing the heater matrix pipes for a months now, and I've had a knocking noise develop on idle which I'm pretty sure is the DMF.

    Now my clutch has started slipping (again, although I never actually replaced it the first time).

    The question is, do I flog the vRS and buy something new or do I fork out a load of money to fix the clutch and DMF?

    Bare in mind it's done 148K miles...

  5. I was doing 400 miles a week commuting in mine for about 20 months (and I'm on fk coil overs) plus I would drive from gloucester to London/Southampton and back every couple of weeks or so. Not long before I stopped I trapped a nerve in my back and I swear doing all those miles with such cheap seats hasn't helped. I would recommend a cushion/new seats. And whatever you do don't get adjustable coilovers, you will destroy the comfort!

  6. As an advocate for the spare wheel I've just met a man on my drunken walk home who made the mistake of not spec'ing one on his Astra. He's now waiting for the AA as his kit hasn't resulted in an inflated useable tyre. Live an learn eh?

  7. I'd say if you're worried, just take out the rear seat bases and fold down the backs.  Then you'll have a huge flat loading space. I got my 32 inch in the back of a 206 estate a few years ago lying it down flat, without the back seats down.  Granted its a big boot in the 206 estate but the fabia with the seats down flat is bigger in the back.

  8. I had a brake servo vacuum hose replaced recently, when my car dumped it's coolant everywhere and the nice RAC man bypasse my heater and filled the system back up I started it with the bonnet open and he pointed out a hissing noise. Wasn't all that loud though...
