Is the garage in the wrong?
Lfccraigy replied to Lfccraigy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Wow thanks for the response everyone. @rwbaldwin once the linkages were done there was mainly a but of vibration through the clutch pedal @frisco ive rang trading standards and they say that i am well within my right to go ahead and pursue this as i took the car back and complained while it was in the warrenty period. Id also like to add that if a car needs a new gearbox after 50 odd thousand miles its clear that the car has been through a hard 50thousand. Surely its good practice to fully rectify all forseeable problems. As well all know a gearbox generally will withstand more gruntbthan a DMF so to me it seemsmobvious the DMF would be far from perfect -
Before i start i know im fighting a loosing battle but, its december, ive got to pay a large repair bill the 2 things i hate most :-) So as some may have read before i bought a nice and tidy 1.9tdi octy for 3495 with 52k on the clock 1 owner FSH bla bla bla... i have a little read on the repairs and notice that its had a recon box put on. At 52k that had me worried. My dad decided to get hold of the previous owner and see what happened. He went on to say that they garage wanted to charge £2000 To change the gearbox because it needed sending off and then youve got the clutch and the flywheel too. So the bloke sold the garage the car in a p/x. Now on my service history the repairs are 495 for the gearbox overhaul. 76 for clutch kit. But nothing on DMF!?!? The car came with 3 months warrenty in which it went back to the garage at least 6 times. A faulty relay. Aircon broke. And then the gears where crunching like nothing else. But the kept palming me away until my warrenty with them ran out and now bang. An early present for christmas. Your DMF has failed sir! That'll be £800 please! :-(

Ok ive owned my octy 2003 plate 1.9tdi 130 for 6 months or so now. When i first got the car the gears where crunching, which i now know to be the gear linkages (sorted that) Then the sunroof leaked which i left and thought ill sort it when i can be bothered Then the aircon refused to blow cold air. Again i thought sod it its cold enough ill sort it in the summer Then the rear wiper stopped working, now im getting annoyed so i decided i would look into it and do everything on my week off. BUT now the big problems have arrived the engine is verrryyyy noisy on idle and make a hell of a clunk when i turn it off. The battery light is on on my dash and the gears are crunching again. Im at my witts end with this car. Its only done bloody 56k with FSH. WHAT A JOKE

Inches from buying a Octavia VRS PD... BUT
Lfccraigy replied to pombey's topic in Hellos and Goodbyes
Hi welcome. Maybe post thisin the octavia thread but ill try and help you out. Not familliar with injectoe failure or pump failure, but if you thrash these turbo diesels the injectors will fair on all types of car, dont be suprised if they have had the cambelt changed as it looks as though its being sold by a garage, ring the seller and see, i wouldnt wana leave the cambelt much more than 60-65k miles. I have the pd130 engine and its flawless (y) nice lookin car by the way good luck -
Remapping is fine and will not damage the clutch o engine however i do not know what to suggest as the car has only done25 miles so i presume its a 12plate?? This will definatly void your warrenty. If that doesnt bother you make sure you use a reputable remapper and also get customer references where possible, hope this helps

GUYS NEED HELP WITH MY STEERING WHEEL
Lfccraigy replied to jose91's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Not so sure about that. It would be a big job i would imagine and as you said the car is old. Is it reallybworth it? If the steering is posing a threat to yourbsafety then maybee, but if not id stay well away and you might and up having to change the hubs for the track rod ends, as the golf ones may not fit -

i have a 1.9tdi 130 elegance which is supposed to be top of the range (people have their own opinions) all the seat i imagine will be ther same unless you buy the vrs model with leather interior, again dont quote me on that. The seats are quite hard though. The elegance also has all electrics, alloys, climate control etc etc
