  1. when i bought the car the manager told me it was a chain but since then skoda have told me it is a belt.have seen documents on here showing it is a belt .
  2. i just couldn't take there word on it, no disrespect to them but i wanted something that at least showed i took car to have belt changed and it was told it wasn't required.service guy told me it was time for change because 5 yrs old, then when took for change mechanic inspected and said these belts don't require renewal.hopefully nothing will happen but should have a bit of back up
  3. hi,car (2014 octavia 1.2 petrol) went to skoda dealer last week for service and was told that with car being 5 yrs old it was due for cam belt change.took car today for belt renewal and was phoned later in the day to be told that as there was no maintenance info in their system for my car for belt change that the belt is classed as a lifetime belt(?!) and therefore did not require replacing.they actually turned down money.anyway got them to give me a print out stating that it was a lifetime belt.this has left me uneasy on the fact that in previous post everyone said to get belt changed and no-one mentioned anything about a lifetime belt.any info would be greatly received.thanks.see print out below
  4. hello, me 2014 octavia 1.2 petrol has done 12800 miles and whilst picking it up from skoda service ,the dude said with it being 5 yrs old it would be needing a timing belt change , not knowing much about cars i asked if this is still the case with the car doing low mileage to which he looked on his database, couldnt find any info and said not to worry about it.As you all know boat loads about this stuff could anybody give me any info on what i should do.cheers
  5. thanks for the info much appreciated, will try to have a look or get mechanic to.cheers

  8. im in the black country, west mids.what exactly are those number groups and can they only be found using vcds, i have a code reader but i think it just gives me the code
  9. took car to local garage who I've used for years and never had problems with so i don't know part number I'm afraid or where they got it from sorry.
  10. car is 1.2 classic estate azq engine and code fault read front sensor at fault which got replaced, have also had rear sensor replaced in past
  11. hi ,had problem with front lambda sensor (this is update to previous post),i had sensor replaced.2 days later went on motorway journey travelling at average 70mph and all was fine, returned to car after about 5 hours and whilst travelling around town at 20-30mph engine management light reappeared,i put the code reader on and got the same code saying fault with sensor(car running fine)i deleted code and carried on with journey and light never reappeared until about 7 days later when doing a similar trip.no problem at speed but light appears when have slowed to 30ish mph after a good drive at 70-80mph.the same day i deleted code but next morning shortly after pulling away light reappeared.i deleted code yet again and it didn't reappear all day(yesterday)question is does the car need the proverbial italian tune up to clear cack which might be causing problem or would there be something else causing problem.car seems to be running well.any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks
  12. ok, thanks for all the imput, its greatly appreciated.
  13. none that i can see,I've cleared the code and the engine management light a couple of days ago and then yesterday whilst travelling along motorway about 70 mph noticed that it had reappeared
