Virtual Cockpit 2023
The LED headlights were similarly de-specced on the 2023 cars. Also no cornering fog lights on my 2023 SE-L, which was a useful facility all my previous Yeti's featured - progress π€·ββοΈ

Grateful for your insight - potential family/urban runabout
1k miles later and the FIAT 500 has grown on me to such a degree I'm now wondering if I can justify adding an Arbarth variant to the family fleet π€

The Top Gear Yeti
Not especially relevant to me at the time given I had no plans for a DSG. Are they now more reliable?

The Top Gear Yeti
The Karoq I initially test drove was a 1.5 TSi DSG - not sure if 6 or 7 speed? The salesman actually advised against going for a manual, as he felt the gearing was not ideal and the car just worked better as an Automatic, albeit an automated manual one. Unfortunately I didn't take his advice! I've driven a few DSG /S-Tronic equipped cars and just don't get on with it, as it seems to change up too fast, or holds on to the gears too long in sport mode. I'd also found low speed manoeuvres rather imprecise. On reflection however I should have heeded the advice given whilst test driving.

The Top Gear Yeti
I wonder if my Karoq being 2WD and having the torsion beam rear is part of the reason I preferred the drive of the Yeti? I would have preferred a four-wheel drive Karoq, but I'm not a fan of DSG sadly π

The Top Gear Yeti
I've just never bonded with it and don't especially enjoy driving / owning it. Saying that it is averaging better MPG than my last TDi Yeti! The Karoq is complex in operation (electronic handbrake / infotainment etc) whereas the Yeti was simplicity itself and somehow more than the sum of its parts. Guess this was the reason I owned four Yetis in total! Suspect this will be the only Karoq though.

Carrying 2 Bicycles - Towbar/roof
Definitely plan to avoid hatch mounted options and have settled on Thule bars/ bike carriers for the Mii. Mileage will be minimal and fuel economy hit inconsequential π

The Top Gear Yeti
Must say I agree with pretty much everything he says - we had 4 Yeti's in total and they are hugely impressive and undoubtedly the best car Skoda ever made. It's successor (our current Karoq) is a very poor replacement. Great to see this (famous) one is still around and in such fine fettle π Petrol Ped

Carrying 2 Bicycles - Towbar/roof
Many thanks for all the helpful replies π These are the recently acquired bikes. Admittedly with the front wheels still fitted we did manage the get them home (and take them out for a subsequent ride), although taking the seats out made no difference unfortunately. The bike retailer strongly advised against laying them on top of each other, given the potential for damage. I took advice from several keen cyclists at work and of those I spoke too 2 had used the hatch mounted bicycle carriers, but had unfortunately had a bike come off, which understandably put me off this option!! The guys at PF Jones were extremely helpful, but my local / supplying main dealer was of the opinion a towbar, irrespective of dedicated wiring / coding may have implications for the car's warranty (which I extended to five years). On this basis I cancelled the order for towbar installation. The car is a SE-L Roof mounting does not seem a viable option, given the height of the car. I have instead opted to buy a roof mounting kit (likely Thule) and will use my SEAT Mii to transport the bikes. I did previously own a tour de France Yeti, which came with the option to internally mount two bicycles, although I never used the kit and sold it on here some years agoπ€¦ββοΈ

Carrying 2 Bicycles - Towbar/roof
Hi All, very grateful for any advice. I have a 2023 1.5 TSi manual Karoq, which does not have towbar preparation. I am keen to carry two bicycles and initially thought a tow bar, along with the following bike carrier would be my preferred option: Thule I took advice from my local main dealer however and they indicated having a towbar installed may lead to issues with the cars manufacturers warranty (which I extended at initial purchase to five years). I had obtained a quote to fit a Westfalia detachable tow bar (from PF Jones), along with seven pin electrics and vehicle specific wiring. There is the option to roof mount, but with the car being relatively tall I can foresee this being a difficult option in practice. I also trialled carrying the bikes in the car with the seats folded down and this will not be viable option going forward. Grateful for any thoughts.

Dashcam install has killed DAB!
I pretty much covered the length and breadth of the UK in a variety of Yeti's and rarely had the DAB drop out, although admittedly none of them had a WiFi enabled dashcam installed.

Dashcam install has killed DAB!
We too have a weak signal area nearby and I've experimented by switching the ignition off and back on and have verified the impact the dash camvhas, in terms of somehow attenuating the DAB radio. One electrician I spoke to was hopeful using ferrite cores would help, but another is of the opinion the DAB interference is solely related to the Wi-Fi network setup by the front dash cam. I did try installing ferrite cores and initially thought there was an improvement, but in the longer term this has proved not to be the case. Slightly intrigued that the identical dash cam setup had no appreciable impact on either a FIAT or a Suzuki π€·ββοΈ

Dashcam install has killed DAB!
And therein lies the rub! It is only possible to access camera settings once the app is connected to it via Wi-Fi.

Dashcam install has killed DAB!
It does - all DAB stations reappear when the camera is powered down. No facility to disable WiFi from what I can see.

Grateful for your insight - potential family/urban runabout
Used prices of my target EV's appear to rising, so I gave up on the idea and have taken over my daughter's 2019 SEAT MIi, as an urban run-around and added a 2018 1.2 Petrol FIAT 500 to the family fleet.

Noise from both LHS (? top mount area) and steering motor
The power steering rack/motor has now been replaced and all currently appears well with the vehicle, from a mechanical perspective, although I continue to find it's infotainment system infuriatingly complex to use. A previous Dashcam installation also appears to have killed off DAB reception.
