  1. WaveyDavey's post in just got first problem no BT connection was marked as the answer
Hands free is a HFP connection which is all I can connect as because I have an iPhone. This means you can make and receive calls via the car and can listen to music from the phone on the HU.
Premium is an rSAP connection which means as well as the above you can also read your text messages via the car etc..... As Terry says the car connects with the phones SIM and instead of the phone's antenna uses the car's sharkfin instead so add to get a better signal I think. This is an Android only connection I believe but seeing as I've never had an Android phone I've never had the option to connect in premium mode.
You use the MFSW controls for both of the above.
  2. WaveyDavey's post in MFD was marked as the answer
Your car has two trip memories.... Trip 1 is automatically reset after a few hours of being parked up but trip 2 is stored for 100 hours.

As Danny says if you look at the MFD on average MPG or journey time or journey distance you will see a small '1' or '2'. Clicking or pushing the right hand scroller will change it from one to the other... Holding it in for a few seconds will also reset it.

It's possible yours has always been on trip 2 but you have caught the scroller and changed it to trip 1 which is why it is reseting.

I presumed you meant map anyway.

But unfortunately it's just radio or media i'm afraid.
  4. WaveyDavey's post in Columbus Bluetooth was marked as the answer
The car's Bluetooth only stays visible for a minute or two after turning on the ignition. So after making sure the phone is visible turn on the car and immediately go to the phone page on the maxidot and search for phones.
Then you should get the passcode on the maxidot which you put into the phone to pair.
  5. WaveyDavey's post in speed cameras POI was marked as the answer
Yes it is but there are a couple of things you need to do.
Firstly you need your speed camera POI database. (I use the PocketGPSWorld database).
Then you need to have a read through this thread.... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/246805-guide-to-vw-poi-collections-loader-site/
That shows you how to convert the speed camera database you have into a POI file that your Columbus can use.
Note the Columbus can only show a limited number of POIs. When using speed camera POIs on my TomTom app I have different POIs for each speed limit and camera type whereas on the Columbus I just have a POI category for the Camera type.
