  1. Yeah - spoke to the dealer today and asked about any missing accessories and he basically said 'tough, it's second hand, what you see is what you get'. Which is a bit disappointing really.
  2. Hmmmm. Doesn't look like it's meant to be that way...!
  3. Have just paid a deposit on an October 2011 registered Approved Used Superb 2.0 170 4x4 Elegance, 5500 miles on the clock. I'm due to pick it up on Thursday and I'm thinking about things to check before handing over my soul to the devil so to speak. I've already had a good look round the car for signs of repairs - underneath the car, in the boot under the carpet and the polystyrene. Had a good look round the engine bay. Also checked it over for misaligned panels, paint overspray etc. and couldn't see anything untoward. The dealer showed me the V5C and the first owner is Skoda - he said that was because the car is an ex-demonstrator, and he said it had not been in any accidents or had any repairs. I had a test drive in it and there were no warning lights, no smoke from anywhere, no odd knocks or noises (I've already test driven two other Superbs in my hunt for a new car). I haven't had chance to play with every toy on the car, but I know the Columbus turns on at least - and the radio definitely works judging by the bangin' choons that poured out of it when I started it. The electric seats work ok as does the air con. So... seemed okay given the Approved programme and over 2 years warranty left. Now I need to put a checklist together for delivery day, as I don't want to have to go back to the dealer (not local to me) if I've forgotten to ask for the brolly for the door. Anything more serious of course won't stop me. I'm about to go through the brochure and write down all the bits and pieces it ought to come with, but I'd really appreciate your thoughts or experiences - sorry for the long post!
  4. Following meeting with local dealer, variable boot floor is available as an option on a 4x4. Whether it would subsequently turn up with one is perhaps another matter, but the 4x4 car can certainly be spec'd with one.
  5. Anyone know where I can find out what exactly is checked on a Skoda Approved used car? I've found one on the 'Find an Approved used Skoda' website, but am undecided whether to pay the extra £3k for a totally new one. The model in question has done 5500 miles and is October 2011 reg (so '61 plate). I'm no mechanic, but I can spot obvious stuff like misaligned panels, overspray and the like. Ideally I'd like to know what has officially been checked to get the car to be 'approved' used. Anyone any ideas? Cheers
  6. Well, just got back from Colbornes (Peasmarsh, just outside Guildford) and they were very helpful, test drive was good, checked that our child seats would fit, which they did. Even the wife liked it. Unfortunately though they wouldn't budge from the list price of a new Superb at all, which was disappointing. On to the next dealership then...
  7. I'm seeing a dealer tomorrow, will ask them about the variable boot floor and post back.
  8. Sorry to resurrect an old post, but has anyone had a new 4x4 delivered recently and did it have a variable boot floor (if spec'd)? This thread has me worried as I have configured a 4x4 (Elegance) with the VBF option and at no point was there any indication that it's not available.
  9. I'm seeing one dealer tomorrow for a test drive and a quote, have asked to see a different dealer on Monday for more figures. I visited another dealer back in May and am still waiting for them to call me about a test drive - they say manual 2 litre 170 Superb estates are like hens teeth. I don't think they're taking me seriously as it has been three months now and no call. Once I've got other quotes though I might give them a ring to see what they can do.
  10. That's good- I'd miss the km/h when driving abroad but don't need it most of the time.
  11. Tried to get a quote from DtD without putting any details in but it wouldn't allow it. Put in my name and address and got a quote. To print it though, you have to buy it which means giving them my credit card details. Not something I want to do at this point so I did a print screen instead. They quoted me £26763 cf £30190 on the Skoda configurator. Will see over the next couple of weeks how dealer deals compare. Agree with you re. dealers - I prefer to deal face to face unless the difference is irresistible!
  12. Sorry for the OT question but speaking of clocks - no km/h marks on the speedo?
  13. Thanks for the info - have just contacted Nick re. a new Superb.
  14. I got Whispbars for my A4 to mount a roofbox (all from The Roofbox Company - www.roofbox.co.uk) and they don't whistle at all. I left the bars on for a couple of months and to be honest didn't notice a massive noise difference. Fuel consumption didn't dip massively either and they worked fine with the roofbox I chose (a Kamei Corvara as it happens).
  15. Am currently looking to buy a Superb and have a quick question if you don't mind - did you get close to the drivethedeal price in the end? I've looked at their site but haven't yet asked for a quote.
  16. Hi All, New member here, joined so I can ask questions. Currently have an Audi A4 2.7TDI saloon but need more boot space and legroom so am looking at buying a Superb estate. Was lurking for a while - the site looks full of useful info and the folks seem friendly, so I registered.
