  1. This is definitely a fault which probably lies with the SOS and e-sim module. The errors do tend to be location specific. My modules were finally replaced and no errors since, and that included many journeys where the fault consistently set off the SOS error. Skoda probably have a serious shortage of electronic components so will probably kick this down the road some more. Get in touch with skoda technical via their website and formally lodge a complaint about this issue as well as the dealer who is giving you the run around. It took me a lot of perseverance including along the garage for all my money back as the car was not only not for for purpose but failed to meet the EU regs for having a working SOS module.
  2. I dont have your additional safety features! Sounds like it is actually still not fixed. Our software still does not work as it ought to... and the garage have confirmed that even the latest shipping software still has my issues. 1. When your phone is connected, select a destination from the phone contacts list - you get an error of 'Invalid format'. 2. Most UK post code destinations give an 'Off Road' destination and show the address simply as Lat/Long. This is as much use as a chocolate teapot when revisiting somewhere from the satnav previous destinations list. If I ever buy another Skoda I will have a huge check list of what I purchased to test before acceptance and I can then reject the vehicle. The shame is that the test drive we took has the Amundsen V2 head unit which worked as expected - sadly,, the delivered car had the V3 unit which has been a total disaster. Even my 4 year old Kodiaq with the old Columbus head unit works with all the features that Skoda seem to have broken in their latest units To be fait=r to the dealer, they have tried out the issues I have reported as new cars come in but Skoda UK seem completely complacent and probably hope I will just give up which will not be the case.
  3. My Karoq consistently had the SOS error at very specific locations. A "final' fix was applied and I have made numerous journeys past the same locations with no issues since. It was thought to be something to do with 5g? ( or is that part of the conspiracy theory?!).
  4. I have just also had a message from my garage and my car is booked in for next week to have the software updated to version SW304. No idea what it fixes, but the garage felt it prudent to do the update. Although my SOS issue was fixed, I am wishfully hoping that this new release will make the satnav behave like the previous one with real world destinations and the capability to recognise UK addresses from a phone contact directory. Fingers crossed... and I will post here with the results.
  5. The sos issue does indeed seem to be fixed. My outstanding issue with the Amundsen V3 headunit are; 1. Post code entry simply shows an off road destination with no correlation to street or otherwise - just a set of lat/long coordinates which are totally meaningless unless you are an ordinance survey rambler. 2. The system refuses to accept an address from a connected phone and its contacts claiming it is invalid, yet my Edition with Columbus accepts the same phone and contact. All these functions worked perfectly on older systems.
  6. Thanks Paul. Very interesting. I will call mr garage next week.
  7. If you are brave enough, try making a couple of repeat journeys along the exact same route to see if that discounts the location based symptoms many of us have experienced.
  8. The App version does indeed work every time. This also implies you are happy to pay Skoda for the connect services every year. The function which does NOT work is selecting a contact from the connected phone (bluetooth) address book which is what Skoda have acknowledged does not work and are hopefully working on a fix,
  9. I believe rather optimistically that Skoda may be working on a fix as I escalated this as far as I could with Skoda head office. I think it is related to the post code issue not recognising uk addresses but simply lat/long.
  10. Thanks for the tip on Edge. Google Chrome just does nothing at all and does not even report the file as unsafe. I will download and try the suggestions offered here. Thanks for the detail! BTW - I have heard that my VIN has a notification about an upcoming update which I hope will fix the contacts as a destination from the phonebook. Skoda Exec are fully aware of the UK postcode issues translating to Off Road and a set of coordinates and there 'may' be an update at some point.
  11. Hi, There have been several historic threads on this topic and the last info earlier this year was that Skoda would publish a method using the usb C socket to update locally from a downloaded file. I zse that the portal for my VIN has a 25gb file (ECE2022 week 45 2021) but the 25GB ZIP file does not seem to exist! Anyone else has any success? Yes, I know that there are auto downloads when entering a new area but that is not much use if planning a longer trip before departing!
  12. Are we all sure it is not location based? I have heard that this has happened at quite a few places outside London - and quite specific on location and not a wide ranging area. Skoda also referred to it as a 'location SOS issue'. I still do not know what exactly was done after 3 garage visits, but I need to make a couple more 'drive by' journeys close to the suspect area before I am 100% convinced.
  13. From my experience the SOS is a location based issue (which Skoda confirmed). Around the UK it seems that there are specific local areas where for whatever reason the SOS module fails. I cannot get the specifics, but it sounds very much like an issue I had in an old Subaru where in a local builders yard the engine immobilise would disable the engine and the car had to be moved a few hundred yards away. That was put down to some sort of local high power radio transmissions and was swiftly rectified - not this protracted nonsense with Skoda that has taken numerous 'false fix' visits over the past 8 months with 2 hour round trips each time. I have been assured that the most recent fix would 'really work' and so far I have only been able to make one trip past the area where the alarm was triggered with no issues. When I have made several more journeys in the area of failure then I will consider the issue 'probably' fixed. In my case it was at the bottom of the A12 at Poplar in London. I have also heard reports about somewhere in Docklands as well.
  14. For the first time in 9 months I have been able to drive past a 'hot' zone with no sos error. The car had had 2 so called software fixes, neither of which worked. The last garage visit had a 'fix" applied but apart from knowing that Skoda technical gave a set of instructions to the garage master technician I do not know what was done on the last visit. When I have driven past the bottom of the A12 at Poplar twice more with no errors I will consider the issue finally solved. Now for the known issues on the Nav and destinations from phone contacts to be fixed which the factory have finally acknowledged is a problem.
  15. I think by entering a proper name for the destination that over rides the stupid Lat/Long names given by the satnav so looking later at previous destinations you actually know where you went! The factory have finally confirmed that using contacts from the connected phone (via bluetooth), the Invalid Destination error is because the developers of the MIB3 failed to consider the UK post codes which go at the end of an address rather than the EU method of somewhere in the middle of the address.
