  1. Thanks for getting back to me, I'm in no major rush to change it so I won’t be rushing into buying the first 1 I see, the 1 on the trader I’ve seen but as it’s just over 100 mile from where I live so it’s a bit far just to go & look. I have a trader looking for me as-well so hopefully I will find something a bit closer to home, if anybody heard of one for sale let me know please 👍🏻

  2. Hi all,

I'm actively looking to replace my mk1 octavia vrs with a mk3 vrs estate petrol manual & im asking what’s the best spec to go for I'm looking to spend around the £12k mark.

Ideally I want a car with DAB, Nav & heated seats but the cars I’ve seen for sale don’t have heated seats so has anybody retro fitted heated seat pads & if so what kit was used?

Also is there anything I should look at apart from the normal things to look for when viewing vehicles?

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

  3. Hi

My n/s xenon headlamp has stopped self leveling, I removed the headlamp & checked to see if the motor had popped off but was OK, so took motor apart & found it had broken, so I have now replaced it with a 2nd hand motor but still doesn't work, o/s is ok, I was going to swap the motors from side to side to see if if I have bought a failed motor or it's a fault somewhere else, before I do this just wondered if anybody else has come across this issue if so what is the fix. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  4. It is probably going to be a needle roller race collapsed on the mainshaft, some of these require a puller to gain access to them on the shaft. Post back when you have it stripped, or if you checkout the post in this section about down changes, I've posted a link in there to the workshop manual, so you can see for yourself. :)

Ok thanks for that, doesn't sound too bad to change then, will post pics & findings

  5. Hi

Just wanted to know roughly how long it has takes to R & I vrs gearbox, 2 hours sound about right, I don't think they look that hard to do, also do the driveshafts have to be removed from the car or just at the box end?

I'm also planning to refurb the box I'm taking out, anyone tackled this before? Do I need any special tools to do it & is there anything I really need to pay particular attention to?

    Cheers

  6. hi all

has anybody used a bolt & captive nut setup to fit the brace or is the nut & bolt setup the best to go for, I want to use the captive nut setup for easy removal if needed,  I have got 13mm m8 bolts & the captive nuts to fit, would these be suitable to use or would m10 bolts & nuts be the better option? any advice would be great as I cant seem to find any topics on here where this setup is used

    cheers

  7. Hi

I've noticed I'm starting to get a whining noise on 4th gear at low rpm when off the throttle, no noise when accelerating & no noise in any other gear no issues with gear selection & the gearbox oil has been changed recently, there was no metal in the old oil drained. Has anybody come across this before? Also I want to change the rear wiper to a flat blade setup like the mk 2, has anybody done this? & has the part numbers for the bits I need

    Cheers

  8. Hi

My radio reception was very poor on mw unable to get any stations, either with standard stereo & a pioneer unit, as the aerial was looking a bit worse for wear I decided to change it, I've fitted a gen aerial but reception still isn't great, I can now get national stations but unable to get local mw stations, am I missing anything????? Pioneer unit fitted at the moment

    Cheers
