  1. I might be up for this - not sure yet but I'll update when I'm sure As for washing the car - I washed mine by hand the very weekend before we were hit with all the snow and ice last month. Typical!
  2. No :( The company who the policy was with didn't offer that. I'm currently with Admiral though and quite happy with them. I did try one or two of the sponsors on here (Adrian Flux at least) but was quoted £2,000+.
  3. I'm 25, and my premium is just under £1000 - 0 NCB. I've been driving for 7 years, but unfortunately was always a named driver until last year when I bought my Fabia.
  4. I quite like that colour - very different! What happened to the front number plate - did you remove it for each photo?
  5. Hi Volf. I'm in a similar position to yourself at the moment, but with a different consideration in the mix. I currently pay all the rent in the house I live in with one parent and one sibling, because they work part time on a lower wage than I; which has been in the back of my mind for a long time. Anyway - one thing I've found useful, financially, is to create a very simple budget to help you work out what (and where) you could afford. Money in each month, outgoings out each much currently, and your estimated monthly outgoings if you were living on your own. I did this in a spreadsheet so I could change the variable costs of property and commuting for a given place, and total them all up. As the others have said, renting will probably be easier - and furnished as well, to save you the hassle and cost of having to buy furniture and white goods. With regards to property, I have a saved search set up on RightMove and Zoopla for the areas and I'm interested in which I find quite useful. Also look at local independent estate agents, as not all of them list properties on portal sites like RightMove or Zoopla. Good luck
  6. Sorry to hear about the bump, you must be gutted :( The Crash Repair Parts website seems to have the required bits and pieces listed, including bumper, grilles and lamp holder. It doesn't specifically mention the vRS on the bumpers though - so might be worth checking with them to be sure.
  7. Update! I managed to resolve Problem 1. Taking the glove box out did give me enough access for what I needed. Once it was out of the way, the fan was open and accessible from the "rear" - the side closest to the engine. There was enough room to get my hand up and into the gap to pull out the remaining bits. Obviously the fan should be OFF before doing this! I found it helpful to lie on my back with my head in the footwell looking up - either straight at the gap at the back or through the opening for the pollen filter. I used the flash LED light on my phone so I could see what I was doing. I've also temporarily solved problem 2 until I can get hold of the right parts, by covering the pollen filter gaps with an old t-shirt and securing with tape. It's not ideal, but it's keeping the draft out.
  8. OK - bit of a strange one so please bear with me When I bought my Fabia, it had some blue paper towel stuffed under the glove box. I didn't think much of it at the time (probably should have done - don't shout at me!) as it wasn't a problem - until now! The pollen filter was recently replaced as part of a service, and I now have two problems that I'd like to sort out. Problem 1: The air blower makes a lot of noise when turned on. I think this is due to some of the blue paper towel being trapped in the fan (see attached image). After searching rigorously on the forum, I've had the pollen filter out again, had the blower on all settings, in all positions and with recirc on and off - but the paper won't budge. Question 1: Will removing the glove box (as mentioned in various threads on here) give me enough access to the fan to remove the paper that's stuck there? Problem 2: I no longer the blue paper stuffed around the pollen filter, so it's now spewing cold air into the passenger footwell (so that's why it was there!). I think I need the proper cover. Question 2: Where can I get the pollen filter cover/housing? From various searches, I think I need the following items: 1) L-shaped cover (photo) 2) 2x clips (photo) 3) foam sheet (photo) I found the clips at skodaparts.com, but nothing else. There are mentions on the forum of the L-shaped cover having the part number 600.819.422 B, but searches for that draw a blank. I have no info about the foam sheet at all. Any help and pointers would be appreciated Thanks, Craig.
  9. I had a similar sound on mine recently. Since then I've had replaced (in one go, during a service) - rear bump stops, a CV boot and, I think, a lower arm bush (garage receipt just says "front suspension" - can't remember exactly which). If your bump stops are OK (visual check should confirm this) then I'd guess at a front suspension bush.
  10. Like tomgtturbo, I had a similar problem on my Fabia a while ago. The caliper was seizing on causing the noise at 60-70mph you're probably getting, and squeaking at lower speeds and/or when turning. Definitely worth sorting sooner rather than later to maintain the life of your caliper and pads.
  11. I had a similar problem to this (sounds like it at least) - it would start after a mile or so of driving at 60-70mph, and would last another several miles. The noise was relevant to the speed. New tyres on the front didn't solve the problem, but the garage who swapped + installed new tyres identified that a brake calliper had seized on. Since I got that sorted, the problem disappeared. Something worth checking out any way?
  12. I bought a standard 54 plate 8 months ago with just over 72k on the clock, and it's now at 86k. Since buying it, it's had 2 new tyres, an oil change, new OSF break pads (calliper seized on!), new set of wipers and new lights. It's great to see so many "older" cars in this thread with high mileage - gives me great confidence in the car.
