  1. As stated in above post I had removed the inner roll pin. The outer one I was able to push out and it fell into the bottom of the door. This did not matter as I was removing the regulator to replace the door lock as it was deadlocked.

When I got access to the lock, I hit it a couple of times with a wrench to see if I could get it to work. Thankfully it opened using central locking and I was able to access the screws in the side of the door to remove the lock and replace.

Put it all back together and working fine.

  2. On same topic of above posts I am having a problem removing the outer roll pin.

Removed inner roll pin using M5 bolt screwed in and then pulled out. However when I tried the same with the M8 bolt the outer roll pin will not pull out. Instead the bolt when pulled is coming out without removing the outer roll pin.

Any hints or tips about removing this so that I can replace the rear lock.

    Thanks

    Eddie

  3. The high brake light on my back door is not working properly (2003 1.2 HTP combi). A couple of lamps on either side of the unit are lighting up but none in the middle. They are also not very bright. Left and Right brake lights are working fine.

Changed the brake light switch but made no difference. Would this cause a fault light on the dashboard? Does the whole unit need to be replaced????

Also the rear passenger door has deadlocked.....tapping around the lock while trying to open the door has not worked...So I guess it is time to get in to the door and break the lock.

    Any ideas would help.

    Thanks

    Eddie

  4. Had the EPC light come on a couple of night ago.

Having checked on the sight when it last appeared I checked the blake lights which I found were not working (All of them). So assumed it was the brake lights which had caused the EPC fault to appear.

The next day the EPC light went out and all the brake lights are now working.

Can I assume the brake light switch is going a little bit funny and expect to change it in the future

  5. I had a window regulator replaced under warranty with 6 months left. The same part broke 1 month after the warranty expired.

They said it was not covered with a 2 year parts warranty as I had not paid for it as all parts were only covered until the original warranty ran out.

Although the dealer had it covered with a goodwill gesture I had to pay for the labour costs. This new regulator was fully covered I was then told because I had to pay for the work.

  6. when you said emerald isle i was imagining some beautifull tropical island in the south pacific somewhere:rolleyes:

You were close.:D ....................As you know it is a very non tropical island on the edge of the Irish Sea:rofl:  ....except for the last 2 weeks(lovely warm weather with lots of sunshine)

  7. Slightly off topic...........

Wait until you have the smoking ban as we have here in Ireland. I am a non smoker and it has been one of the best things ever introduced in this country.

It means smokers are left standing outside offices, restaurants, pubs and any workplace. It has been widely accepted, even by most smokers.

  8. Looked for renewal prices today. Price from AA E390. After discussion on phone E341. Alliancz quote E342. All with bonus protection and windscreen cover.

Full no claims bonus, Full license, No penalty points.

Quinn Direct and AXA quoting just under E500.:thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

  9. Update on the emissions test failure. The car was a 02 Octavia 1.6.

Follow discussion with 2 Skoda dealers a rep from the VW group called to query the figures that were being used by the NCT.

When shown them they were not the correct figures for that model of car. They were given the correct figures to use for the test and the car passed with no difficulty.

I wonder how many other 02 Octavia 1.6 owners had similar problems trying to pass the emissions test if these incorrect figures were used all over the country.:thumbdwn:
