  1. @Dave_N87 Hi, yeah the heater was working fine, the issue turned out to be the egr cooler again, the only reason I noticed the coolant loss was every couple of days the low coolant light came on. I never let the coolant get any lower so noticed no other issues. My car is the MK2 FL with the 170bhp CR engine so may have slightly different symptoms.
  2. The Strut takes 5 mins and I got it of a guy called Sam Loftus on the MK2 octavia owners facebook page, if your not on there already do a search for it and then request to join. The LED' s came from www.ledperf.co.uk I bought the full package but you can order just the LED's you need.
  3. Quick update, Been a while since I have done anything to my vRS other that the usual service tasks just been enjoying driving it. Couple of Mods I have completed recently, Bonnet Gas strut, LED interior lights inc glove box and boot.
  4. As I said that's where mine is located so there is space, I don't have anything holding it in place but there are brackets for the dash that you could zip tie it to if you wish.
  5. Hi @59p my Bluetooth module sits behind the stereo fascia, this is not the correct position for it but it is far easier than feeding the wires to the manufacturers position of under the drivers seat, I have had no problems with it being in this location for Bluetooth connection and it does not rattle about. I don't have a Columbus unit only lowly bolero however I believe the connection is the same at the back of the unit, If your thinking of retro fitting a Bluetooth unit my advice would be find one with a plug and play loom mine, had to be soldered onto the existing loom with makes it a more fiddly job see my earlier posts regarding it being fitted.
  6. Hi @Fin69 I dont think he wants to go to the expense of a a ceramic coating, he is just looking to have the car paint prepped and waxed to make it easier for him to maintain it going forward, When I was up at the weekend he was impressed by the shine on My 8 year old Octavia compared to his brand new Ford and I explained that when I bought it 2 years ago I had the paint corrected professionally then sealed and waxed and then I have kept on top of it. His car had only been cleaned by the dealership prior to delivery and I could already see swirls in the paint,
  7. Hi all, My Dad has just picked up a new car (not a Skoda which we have had words about ) he is interested in a new car detail, can anyone recommend a company close to Glasgow?
  8. I am afraid @AkisVH I have no Idea I have only ever had Diesel Octaiva's, A quick google does show up the secondary pumps across the VAG range for the TSI engines so I would assume they do.
  9. Sorry @Kris82 only just noticed you had responded, Yeah my car has the CEGA engine, I do think the location of the secondary pump may be the cause of the issues over the last year it threw up the error during cold weather and hot so would suggest the elements affect it, I googled and the secondary pump does appear to be an issue in the VAG range especially Audi as most of the threads I found were on Audi forums. Since having mine replaced I have had no further issues and the fault code has not returned so hopefully that's the last I will see of this issue during my ownership
  10. I'm using my trusted independent, they close for the same reason as the dealership are looking for work, they are quiet between Xmas and new year. It's just sods law that my brake caliper started binding the day they closed for Xmas break, I have no doubt that it will be booked in for the 3rd Jan and be sorted that day, usually at a fraction of the cost of the local dealership.
  11. I'm currently in the same boat, My OS rear caliper started binding on Christmas Eve, as we were due to go away for Xmas that afternoon I dumped the car on the drive and we took the Wife's car, Unfortunately my local garage is not open between Xmas and the new year so have to wait until 2nd to book it in :(
  12. Yeah, my car thrown up the code a couple of times during the year, first time was last Jan-Feb when we had a cold snap, then again in august during a hot spell, I intended to get around to investigating but as the code never came back on both occasions it was soon forgotten about, This time it came back and after resetting the fault code it came back after every second start up, i need the car for a couple of long journeys over the Xmas period so bit the bullet and had my local garage sort it.
  13. Just to update on this in case anyone is interested, driving the car does not appear to have caused any damage or lasting issues. The secondary cooling pump was replaced by my local trusted garage For £200 which is broken down to £160 inc vat for a genuine pump and £40 for 1hrs labour and sundries ( coolant top up) I now have no engine management light and no returning fault code
  14. Hi All, I have an engine management light showing on my Octavia Vrs 2.0 CRTDI, From a scan I am getting the error Cooling pump b, Open circuit fault code P261A which I believe is an electronic secondary pump in the cooling system and appears to be a common fault across the VAG group. Due to the time of year and needing the car for travelling over Xmas and the New year I have booked it in with my local trusted garage on Wednesday to be looked at. The car is showing no other symptoms other than the warning light and error code, it does not over heat and appears to heat up normally, no limp mode and A/C works fine. I can reset the fault code and it did not appear on the next run ( reset after commute to work yesterday didn't appear on run home) however it has popped up again today half way into work. My commute this week is only 8 miles each way and given the colder weather it has only just heated up by the time I get to work ( this is normal behaviour in the winter unless i get stuck in traffic ) My question is does any one know how much damage I may cause driving the car between now and it going in as I need it to get to work?
  15. +1 I have just had a similar experience, my steering has always felt really good until a few weeks back when it started to feel a little disconnected and like you have said I felt I had to concentrate harder on my steering than normal, Had my tracking checked and the the front alignment was out by a few degrees, once that was sorted steering feels as good as it was again, I cant remember hitting anything that could have knocked it out of alignment although I do have to drive over a curb on occasion where I work and with the state of roads even a small pothole can be enough to knock it out of alignment, With you driving on a potholed track daily my guess would be this is the cause.
