Back from the stealers after booking in for 4th service and they've shown me the Skoda system screen which says DSG change is distance (40,000 miles) and not time. So I'm holding fire until the 5th service as I'm not even 2/3 of the way to the official point (towing or otherwise).

Odd as I'm sure my Mk II was distance or time.

All DSG regimes are based on distance, across all Audi, Skoda, SEAT and VW :).   You might be thinking of the haldex regimes, which can be time or distance based, model/variant dependent

The only 'Sealed for life DSG from VW Group are DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG 2009-2020.

    They are no more than 192 PS & 250 Nm Toque.  so 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 or 1.5  or 1.8 TSi FWD or 1.4 or 1.6 TDI's

Then when VW Group do a World Wide Recall or Service Campaign as they did 2012-2014 then they might change the oil.

Yes, so the sealed engines for the Mk3 superb are these variants:

1.4 TSI 7 Speed Automatic DSG CZEA 150 BHP
1.5 TSI 7 Speed Automatic DSG DADA 150 BHP
1.6 TDI CR 7 Speed Automatic DSG DCXA 120 BHP
1.5 TSI 7 Speed Automatic DSG DPCA 150 BHP

  3. DSG can be sealed for life (no service), 38k or 80k for the skoda superb MK III, depending on the engine variant you have.

Assuming it requires a service and is not sealed for life, it's 38k, unless it's one of these newer engines which is an 80k service. 80k service required on the following:

2.0 TDI CR 7 Speed Automatic DSG DFGA 150 BHP
2.0 TDI CR 7 Speed Automatic DSG DFHA 190 BHP
2.0 T FSI 7 Speed Automatic DSG DNUA 272 BHP
2.0 T FSI 7 Speed Automatic DSG DKZA 190 BHP
2.0 TDI CR 7 Speed Automatic DSG DSRB 150 BHP

I was advised that the air con needed servicing and the brake fluid needed changing on the three year service.

I declined both. The air con was working fine and surely they should check the water content in the brake fluid rather than saying it needs changing.

On the air con, they’ve just quoted the schedule but it’s pointless to have it carried out so soon so you were right to decline!

The brake fluid change schedule is 1st at year 3, then every 2 years. Whilst it probably doesn’t need doing, i’d probably just do it purely because it’s brakes...

With all this work though, they’re just following the manufacturers schedule, but I agree they should be checking instead of just going by the schedule

In a similar vein, at my last service the dealer advised an air-con service "Skoda recommendation due to age" at £89.

I have no technical knowledge of air-con, but I feel that if it's working fine (and I always have it on)

Air conditioning services are ‘recommended’ every 2 years by the manufacturer, so the dealer will simply follow that schedule.

Air conditioning does not ever ‘need’ a service, there is no official interval, so just get it done when it stops working.

It’s for sure just an upsell opportunity though, there’s no duty of care for it like a Cambelt or DSG oil

  6. Would the VW RNS 310 / 315 units fit a facelift vRS?

I'm looking for something very similar to the op, but am also running into the issues where the DAB/Bluetooth options aren't always there, so was considering the VW unit instead of the Skoda one as they all seem to have these features.

  7. From what I can tell you won't even need a new facia. I've just gone for a Amundsen+ so I'll let you know what it's like and how the installation is when it arrives.

I think it does all of what you ask except for Bluetooth streaming, which it needs an add on unit for. The DAB will need another antenna. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Ah nice, so are you upgrading from the Bolero as well?

So does the Amundsen+ definitely have built in DAB? I've seen most of the items on ebay have a GPS antenna, but no mention of any DAB extra kit.

Let me know how you get on!

  8. Hi all.

I'm looking to upgrade my bolero and was wondering if the Amundsen+ would be able to do the following:

    - sat nav

    - dab

    - Bluetooth streaming (from iPhone)

    - some form of iPhone integration to receive calls

I found these on eBay, does this look like what I would need:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Amundsen-RNS-315-RNS315-E-Navigation-System-Sat-Nav-VW-Seat-Replace-510-/301536991566?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item463501594e

Comes with antenna and maps loaded, so I assume I would just need a new fascia?

  9. Update:-

Not good, the Skoda Warranty (Car Care Plan) have rejected the claim as its an "inherent fault" which is mentioned in the small print. Skoda have so far offer 80% off the parts leaving me with a bill of £2.5k! I am currently waiting for them to get back to me as I have escalated it and I am also taking legal advice to claim against the dealer I purchased the car from new.

So if anyone has purchased a Skoda extended warranty to cover your tensioner, its worthless.

Mine was fully covered under the extended warranty

  10. Bit of interesting information I just found out from Skoda regarding the 'new part' warranty for a replacement engine.

I was told by the dealer that I don't receive a 2 year warranty on the new engine part as it was covered under the warranty. After contacting Skoda head office about this today, I found that because I didn't make any contribution towards the repair, the warranty lies with 'Car Care Plan' (Skoda extended warranty company) who produced the replacement part. I do have a new part 2 year warranty for my new engine, but would have to contact the warranty company should i have any problems with it.

For any of you that come across the same problem, make a 1p contribution or something so you get it in writing!
