  1. You have revealed inside knowledge about your Zoe providing you with advanced info in real time, maybe the Porsche does not have such systems, do other EV cars boast such innovations I wonder? Also, Asda at J2 of the M5 is not what I call motorway services, and it just so happens to be a very busy area and heavily populated area, being as it is part of Birmingham, is a popular spot for locals to get their petrol as Asda at one time had the lowest prices in the area. I used to be a regular visitor to that of the country for exhibitions at the NEC, factory visits, sales meeting and conferences in Walsall and West Bromwich, the latter is on the opposite side of the M5 at J2. With newsletters, more power to you, but maybe Mac Master does not get them, who knows?
  2. I totally agree but however my point about routes and timing/day still stand and also both you and the Polestar 2 guy are assuming that the Mac Master has/had or even knew about the route planner that you are referring to. Unless you can be 100% certain that Mac Master had, or used that APP, then your comment is not valid. It may be that other APPs have the same functionality, I don't know as I have no need to avail myself of that particular knowledge. But I stand by the premise that to be a fair comparison, Polestar guy needed to be doing that at the same time and day as Mac Master and then the difference would be down to what ever advanced planning and route / charging APP each used and then crunch the numbers at the end of the trip. That way they would both encounter the same traffic/weather problems, and the game changer would then be the choice of venue to charge.
  3. Regardless of the Mac Master being a wally or not, I completely disagree with your theory about EV drivers knowing which motorway services to visit and which one to miss, its rather like saying that every ICE driver knows which service station to visit and those to miss. Are you speaking from being reasonably local to them and therefore may have either experienced them first hand or have been tipped off about them?
  4. Well no, not really, we all know that situations are somewhat fluid, and no 2 days are ever the same. To be truly representative, he needed to be doing the identical same route as the other pair and on the same day and time.
  5. Modern Hero's has just posted a good balanced review of EV ownership from a charging view point, using his recent John O' Groats to Lands End trip where home charging is not available to him, well done, it makes a change from all the home charging people who provide a really skewed viewpoint.
  6. The actual rating is correct if your car has the start/stop technology, all you need to do is to measure the actual physical dimensions.
  7. Oh dear, it seems Mr Sadiq Khan could not, or more likely, would not answer questions about ULEZ put to him from audience members at the recent question time, the last 4 minutes are I think very damming of the entire scheme, it would seem that there is indeed something to hide after all. Maybe he can't or won’t answer the questions is because he is hiding this, which also came out at a meeting with peers in the same week?
  8. This chap just made it home in his Renault Zoe with limited performance. (2825) Renault Zoe in -7 degrees , Did I make it home ? - YouTube
  9. The only car that have experienced the driven wheels scrabbling for grip in was the last Passat I had before I made the transition to Superbs, 21 years ago, and all of my Superbs have only been 2WD. I think the key is to apply power gradually when pulling away, and not launching the car as if you're in some sort of race.
  10. Looking at those photos, it is not clear at all. The top photo only shows one light with what seems like a brake light on, yes I know there is the centre light that we think is a centre brake light, but is it in reality? The bottom photo clearly shows a full width rear light, which has no fewer than 5 spots of far higher intensity, 3 of them in the centre and one on each side. The fact that the traffic light is green means nothing at all as we are not able to see to see if the road in front is clear or not. I've sat in jams before at the lights and watched them go through a few cycles before I was able to move a wheel.
  11. Yeah, many people have zero knowledge of how to drive under those conditions and seem incapable of using gentle inputs on the controls. Perhaps it goes with the big powerful cars that they are so used to giving it the big old heavy boot that just can't help themselves?
  12. I remember my ex manager complaining bitterly to me that the Skoda Superbs were dangerous in snow and ice, which I found rather odd given that I have been driving nothing but Superbs since they were first released here in the UK back in 2002 with the Mk1 and I have never had any issues with them on snowy or icy roads and I'd be doing about 30-40,000 miles a year and I still drive one now I'm retired, the last 3 of which have been auto's, my old manager only ever had manuals.
  13. This just dropped in to my mailbox, I have seen similar from other sources in the past and had seen supportive material / reports to back up some of the claims. It now looks as if those sources have been taken down which had prevented me from posting before without the supporting evidence to support the claims. However, I am again seeing new reports springing up all over the place, so the question is, do these claims have any elements of truth in them or not?
  14. I think that all car parks should be like those in the photos, it helps those who are not registered as disabled, but may have other issues, such as my self, besides over weight, I also happen to have size 15 feet and I really need to be open to open my driver's door wide in order to swing my legs and feet out, otherwise I really struggle as my feet get wedged between the door bin and the door sill and the door is banging on the adjacent car. The other point is that a wide pace like that would also aid to reduce the severity of any car fires and help reduce them spreading so rapidly. Perhaps Luton fire might have been anywhere near as bad with decent gaps, it would certainly give fire services more time to respond I think.
  15. I still say that it is way too early to be saying that.
  16. Its interesting that at these chargers up and down the country, they always allow at least a full car door width space between adjacent cars, thats about 3 to 4 times the space allowed for in car parks, any thoughts what that is done for?
  17. Crikey, that is almost 5 times the weight of my Superb with all of its extras fitted, and it is a fugly looking thing to boot 👎 As the saying goes, only its mother could love its appearance.
  18. I watched that video a couple of days ago and thought there was nothing wrong with the way he was parked because he was very clearly filming with the car and also of course there was literally no one else waiting to charge near him as there were 2 other spaces on the other side of the chargers so clearly he was not causing anyone to have difficulties. As to the way he talks, nothing wrong with that either, it's a phrase he often uses, and he is quite knowledgable about electric cars, we all have our little sayings that some may not like, but to judge him and his content on just that, well, words fail me.
  19. @Rooted I expect that they are crap because either the supply is insufficient if there are many other folk also trying to get a charge, or the supply cable is way to small for the number of chargers?
  20. I just watched this What Car video and it shows how far BEVs have come in 10 years, lets hope the next 10 years sees as much again.
  21. Yes, you are probably right to do so, you should know your local area far better than I will 😂
  22. @lol-lol Yeah, I know Chelmsford is terrible for charging points, we have 54 available, 22 of which are rapid chargers, last year we only had 39 in total and considering we are a city, its woefully inadequate. I think that includes 8 spots at the local Tesla centre. We have many retail parks without any chargers, we have lots of large supermarkets with large car parks and have about 10 chargers between them. This information came a recent news release I read.
  23. @Rooted What I was meant was that maybe they were at a doctor's or dentist appointment or similar, and the appointment was running late due to an emergency event or something, it has happened to me on a number of occasions, where I was booked in for a 10 to 15 minute appointment, only to be still sitting in waiting area some 45 minutes later waiting to be called through.
  24. I thought that I went far enough when I sourced my car, but it was second hand with the spec I was looking for and L&K models are fairly rare it seems, I went from Chelmsford to Mansfield, around 160 miles, but thats chicken feed compared to your trip. Mine is also Petrol Blue and when the sun comes out to play, it looks green at some angles, I love it. The Canton sound system rocks as well.
  25. That's a good colour as well, wow thats a good long way to buy a car from. Do you get much wind noise from the roof rails?
