What have you done to your Superb III today?
It isn't a screwdriver you need but a 7 or 8mm Allen key.

*Sigh* pushed-in front parking sensors...
OK, thanks anyway, I have booked it in at the stealers on the 8th Dec to have the new engine under tray fitted to help quieten the engine down and also add some aerodynamics, and they have ordered the correct tray as the one the car supplier supplied was not correct. The stealer is at the same time addressing the front sensors with some new clips for the sensors, as they say that they are not correctly lined up anyway.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
@Danoid Yes, I'm a bit disappointed as well, there currently does not seem to be any improvement, which I was hoping that there would be. My old Mk2 L&K had the Xenon lights as well as the Halogen main beams, so in essence like a twin headlight, and those lights were brilliant. My Mk3 L&K does not have the 2nd main beam, instead it has the so-called "Crystal" effect insert which adds zero extra lighting and has just the Xenon headlights, while good, are no match for the old ones. They are not too bad on dry roads but on wet or damp roads, they leave much to be desired as the light just reflects off the road.

Correct, but they could still order the wrong bulbs.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
@Agustnr I know, I'm just checking because doing a Google search for the bulbs as listed by @Danoid I also get results listed as Halogen at much cheaper prices 😊, which I'm sure someone might be fooled into thinking are the same thing only to find out the hard way that they are not.

the truth about electric cars
Yep, software is one field where Telsa are most certainly leading.

Failed MOT
My old car was coming up to its 10th year and still had the original discs on it, and every time it was serviced, the dealer always did a full safety check on it at the same time, regardless of the type of service being carried out. One odd thing though, on its 5th MOT, there was an advisory to say that a spring was corroded and ought to be replaced before next test. The spring was never replaced, and it never appeared again on the tests as an advisory either, so I'm guessing it was a new tester at the time. The other thing that always puzzled me is that they would always write on the notes that they had to remove items blocking forward vision, that would be my Tom Tom, mounted low in the middle of the dash, I wonder how the tester would cope with a Citroen DS23 for example as their rearview mirror is fixed in the location 🤔

Failed MOT
If my car had been serviced just 2 days b4 the MOT, I'd be asking questions about why were the brakes not been checked during the service as they should have been. Did you actually see the brakes on the car? My dealer sends me a video of anything like that so I can make a judgement call on it.

So he is telling porkies when he claimed that it should have cost £2,000, YouTubers eh? 🤥

the truth about electric cars
On a trip of 175 miles my diesel would average at worst 50mpg, so thats 3.5 gallons / 16 litres @ £1.50 a litre is £24. If you could charge at home that be roughly £13.50 for 50kWh.

the truth about electric cars
Yeah, maybe I read it somewhere that Telsa are looking at using 48V in order to use smaller gauge wires and thus save on weight for future cars? So if it is a 15V battery, then why was it allegedly costing £2,000?
-
the truth about electric cars
Well the headlamp costs are on a par with those for my Superb, but I expect that the problem has possibly arisen due to Tesla's adopting a 48V LV system? Water does not cause that kind of damage to most normal 12V cars, and cars submerged totally will not short out at 12V, but the added 36V might well cause issues, but either way, the car could have been better designed to just shut down that light, leaving the rest of the system running. The cost of the battery (£2,000) reflects the special nature of it, ie. 48V but that could have been achieved with 4 x 12V batteries wired in series, like the buses I used to look after had 4 x 6V in series to provide 24V and I never had any issues with those in the deepest of floods, even with the batteries being under water.

the truth about electric cars
To make it really a viable option at those kind of prices you do need to be able to do most charging at home.

Isn't this pretty much what Taycan man has been reporting on and off that many chargers will not work using credit cards or even apps at some locations that he visits?

the truth about electric cars
News just coming in about Tesla being fined by Korean regulators about its false claims of range and also Reuters have discovered that a secret team was employed to deny customer complaints and service appointments over claims of underperformance on the projected range figures, and now it seems the US Dept of Justice is investigating this as well. https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/tesla-batteries-range/ https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/08/angry-tesla-customers-sue-firm-over-grossly-exaggerated-ev-range/ https://www.techtimes.com/articles/297874/20231023/tesla-now-under-investigation-doj-misleading-range-claims-evs.htm

Anyone know what make this car is at all?
I thought much the same, especially when he came to connecting the battery leads, you should always leave the ground till the last so if you accidentally touch the positive to the chassis/body while tightening the bolts up, there is no short circuit created.😒

the truth about electric cars
Totally agree with you, however, the ICE power plant can still be improved to further increase its efficiency and reduce its harmful emissions, coupled with some of the aero mods would produce significantly better MPG and less pollution at the same time, which cannot be a bad thing can it? Reducing demand for oil so less resources being used up, and less harmful gases produced, the sooner we can climate change under control.
