Tyre Cracking

Featured Replies

I was out yesterday and thought I would check my tyre for both tread wear and pressure.

I came accross the rear passenger side tyre has a crack all the way around the tyre.

This is the original tyre from new and has done 15,000 miles.

I think it looks like a manufacture defect ?

how long have the tyres been on the car for in time wise not miles?

Let me guess - is it a Dunlop??

Yes - warranty job. :)

Car was handed over to me in August 2006

Spot on... I didn't think that dealers were able to arrange new tyres/replacment. They are nornally pretty good at letting me know about tyre condition.

The car went for a service last week and they spotted a nail and I only realised this due to the white arrow on the edge of the wheel - no one actually verbally told me

Take it back and tell em to replace those Dunslops with a proper tyre.

:iagree:

mine did the same, dealers werent interested as they had the classic "inside wear" problem.

I'll be seeing the dealer next Wednesday - assuming it can wait until then.

As you can see mine has pretty even wear throughout the tread.

I had the same issues with Toyos that were a couple of years old (T1-S) in the end Toyo gave me some free ones after I mailed them some hi res pics. They collected them from the tyre fitter also for analysis.

^ Good to know there are some decent companies out there genuinly interested in the customer and their products

Shame they all seem to be Japanese! ;) Look for my name in the context of Avon tyres.

I have to say though mine were a lot worse, cracking in between all the tread througout the whole circumference of the tyre.

Contis crack in a similar fashion too
