Typical this would happen now

Featured Replies

This week is the last week before i get my MK2 Octy on Monday.

It has developed a brake bind on the N/S/F which has now turned into a Metalic grind. When i check the front pads they have about 1/4 inch left on them so i think its the n/s inner pad thats worn out.

Its only just had its 40K service and i reported the brakes were duff when i took it in.The note on the invoice is "no fault found".Trouble is i still have the ties on for the wheel trims which were put on when i had new tyres fitted. So they haven,t even taken the wheels off to check them. Its booked in tommorow to have the brakes done.Where do i stand here?

Do i tell them its there problem because they not take the wheels off to check them thoroughly?or will i have to pay for the work? Its still under warranty too and its only the N/S/F wearing quicker than O/S/F.

If it states on the invoice that the brakes were fine then you may have a case. If you bought the MK2 from the same garage then you will have an even bigger case as you will be able to get new/used sales involved.

As said if they are great they should be happy to help. What you gotta remember is your a paying customer so its in their best interests. Are you P/X the MK1, if so its up to them to sort out in both respectd then, they should of checked the breaks when asked.

To be fair the brakes could have been fine and then started to stick and worn through the pad.

They could easily put new cable ties on it too. If not they might have done a test drive and found the brakes to work ok.

Personally I'd have thrown a cheap set of GSF front pads on there myself. Are they the FSIII or the ATE 288mm callipers or another type?

FWIW do you deal with Jason?

Had it done today. The fronts have all got 5mm left on them. The rears have gone down to the metal and totally fooked the discs as well:eek: Spoke to the sales guy who is selling me the Mk2 and they are footing the bill for the repair at cost to them of course as they will have the car as of monday.I could have sworn it was the fronts.Good job i didn,t do it myself as i would have got the front pads and not the rears:rofl:Good result anyway and a very big thankyou to Meadens Skoda:thumbup:

Not like rears for a TDi are a huge price anyway; I've got a bill for about £50 for parts for this job (worn out discs).
