Strange noise on acceleration oct 2.0

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have just replaced cambelt, tensioners and water pump 200 miles ago just had a/c regased on my octavia 2.0 aqy 2001 18" rs4 alloys

it has covered 65000 miles and has been running great until this afternoon!!

Basically when I pull away not fast just normal at about 25mph I get like a rubber on metal sort of resonation sound on and off (pulsating) bit like an old fashioned horn. At first I suspected the brakes so have checked the meat on the pads but there is plenty!!

Also flew through mot yesterday with no advisories.

Cant see how a regas could upset it but this was the last thing that was done before the sound has become evident - must be a coincidence!!!????

Any sugestions would be most appreciated.

not the cambelt rubbing on the plastic cover is it?

Think I have sussed it, I believe it is the osr brakes allthough the pads look fine there must be a binding issue!!

I have heard of problems on the rear brakes before, and I have also heard of a modification some sort of damper!!! anyone know what this is and what it involves???

Rear brakes are mooing according to other theads anyone know the modified brake pad part number????????????

Mooing happens when you brake.

If it's a noise you've never heard before, coming definitely from one corner, look for a stone between the disc and the backplate! DAMHIKT!!!
