skoda warranty

Featured Replies

was just wondering on the terms of the warranty supplied by skoda when a new vehicle is purshased ie 3years or 60,000 miles which ever is the sooner...is there a clause whereby the dealer can say right enough is enough we dont want to see this car again?? As i went to dealer for a check on my superb and the greeting by the service manager was far from pleasant.....i told him about the car and faults i was getting and he said is it a taxi? i replied saying it was a yr old and he soon changed his tune when i told it was a family car.......having said that......i have another problem with drivers seat, and they supposedly checked it out saying it needs a new cable...when i already checked it and its not the cable..the bracket has broken off the seat frame...how they missed that i'll never know...but they will see it this coming weds when it goes in for warranty work. And since the last face to face meeting with this skoda worshop manager, im going to be extremely picky now, and see how they like it...so......is the warranty limited to number of claims one makes with their cars??

The dealer / Skoda UK has a legal obligation to effect repairs on any and all faults on your car - other than those which are explicitly delailed in the waranty as being excluded. If they fail to repair these faults they are in breach of contract.

Dont take any crap from them. They mend your car or they go to court, then mend your car, pay you compensationfor the effort involved in taking them to court and pay all legal fees.

I would also get a written apology from any Skoda employee who was less than polite. You are the customer and they have inconvenienced you by selling you something with faults.

Bottom line is, Skoda dealers stink. Vote with your feet.

Wouldn't have thought it was limited. A warranty is a warranty and if faults keep occurring then hard cheese - it's up to them to sort them.

The warranty is with Skoda, so any official dealer will do.

Well tell him this, Skoda Octavia's are currently the most popular choice for cabbies right now and if dealers like him continue to upnose at a car they suspect might be a cab and are unprepared to honour the warranty on the strength of it being a cab, VX,Ford and Pugjoe will quite happily have the market share back off them, I never had any issue about any car I owned as a cab needing warranty work from VX or Pugjoe, both just took the car in and sorted it, well VX did, Pug unfortunately had to make 2500 mods to the 405 before they got anywhere near reliable when they facelifted it.

My dealer does any warranty work to mine regardless of what its used for.

As others have said the warranty is with Skoda, Ive had 3 Skodas & never had a problem with warranty claims. I have recently had the Superbs steering rack changed at 59,940 miles without quible at it just wasnt right, a good call by the dealer as it definately felt a lot better afterwards.

I would suggest you change dealer, even if he does the work hes showing an attitude that would lead me to be dubious about the quality of the work. Skoda are also keen to hear of bad dealers & good dealers so would certainly appreciate your comments. They are likely to have more effect if made in a polite & factual way

I take it you use the dealer in Winchester? Answer me this, when your car has been in to them for work, has it come back with the fault repaired, or has it come back with that fault plus more damage? Serious question.

Cheers

The warranty is for 2 years unlimited mileage with an extra year limited to 60000 miles added to it. It is there to provide a means of repair to items that fail due to defects in materials or workmanship.
