Coincidence the I30/Fabia/Swift are so alike

Featured Replies

Keep seeing them, and from some angles they seem the spitting image of another car.

Bit like the Jetta and Passat, have to double take to decide which a car is!

Definitely like the VRS equivalent of the I30.

I'm clearly stupid - what's an IC30?

nope, your not......i have no ideas either, aint a swift a bird :)

I mean the I30 :o

Ah right. I assume you mean the new fabia - neither the Swift nor the i30 look like the old one?

I like the Swift, just looks 'right'. Not so sure about the i30.

We seen a swift a couple of nights ago and SWMBO went that looks like a new fabia, I can see the resemblence. Gives me a idea of a 3 doory fabia.

At least the Jetta and Passat come from the same company...lol

Is there a quick way to tell from a far, looking at the rear which is a Jetta and which is a passat? Cant see any difference at the rear myself.

I agree - they made the Passat look like a Golf, only bigger. Hence the confusion with the Jetta which is a Golf, only bigger. I preferred the old Passat/Superb design.

is the I30 the new accent or getz model??

i don't fully see it myself, i can see a very slight resemblance of the I30 and fabia fronts and the abia and swift both have black a pillars, but thats it for me.

Accent

Cheers guys, I had assumed the getz replaced the accent and this was the replacement for the getz.

From the pic, front of I30 & Fabia, and the C pillar of the fabia and swift.

The headlight thing was started by Ford wasn't it?

According to my research on goggle. The Getz did replace the accent and the I 30 is replacing the Getz. Interest what you can find on Goggle.

Er the accent is a size larger than the Getz and was sold alongside the Getz (infact it is still listed for sale on Hyundai's UK websit)e. The getz is a competitor to the Polo, the Accent is/was Focus sized but not very good.

thats correct roo, but was aimed at a supermini size budget, my grandad had a accent and it was under £7000 when he bought it and it was huge. Prob too big for him at the time coming from a fiesta.

Aside from the number plate being tailgate mounted on the Jetta and bumper mounted on the Passat? Its a similar 'family' look but not the same.

You mean the way they are postioned??

Ford started doing this to their cars in about 1996 with the Ka IIRC think it was called new edge design.

the i30 also looks more than a little bmw from the rear.....

is one of the nicer cars in its class at the moment.....
