Ebay TIP???? any thoughts?

Featured Replies

Its hard to say how much more airflow you will get over the stock one from that picture. I would personally go for a silicon TIP such as forge, autobahn 888 or APR as they cannot collapse under vaccum as they replace the flimsy rubber part of the stock intake as well as the metal intake :o

it looks very simillar to the oem one, by the time you have added the 35$ shipping to the UK, and the import tax and VAT you will be better getting something like the neuspeed or ABD one. I had the ABD one on my old vRS, and it made quiet a difference.

I was wantin to keep it simple,

puttin the forge or similar one on means you need to take off all the other parts and reattach them.

is there any way round the tax cr4p?

can pm me.

Get the autobahn88 Tip its cheap, good 4 ply construction and i didn't pay any tax.

Mine was very straight froward to fit but a little fiddly

cheers again mate,

ive seen that one b4 but didnt wanna risk as it is from hong kong and i figured it be a ripoff.

take it you got urs from there?

is it held on the turbo by a jubilee clip?

  • Author

it also sais 3 ply???? is it still better than std?

It is held on the turbo with a jubilee clip yes and dont worry about it being 3 ply it will still be stronger than the rubber intake. If you buy it hold them side by side and squeeze them, you will feel the extra rigidity in the silicon one

cheers,

think ill be gettin one then,

how easy are they to fit?

do you need to get under the car or can it be done from the top?

  • Author

cheers

readin that mate it makes not a lot of difference to the car?

ill keep it in mind though.

mart how have you got so much power and torque from ur car?

New map. Its not confirmed yet just what i got through vag-com.

  • Author

who is the map by if you dont mind?

still that is good, i think vag-com is prob about 15-20 bhp higher than RR. ish lol

still a nice healthy amount.

Ecu Evoluion.

I've done a few vag-com logs since having the car.

Exhaust took it to 190bhp

Tip no extra

First remap 209bhp with the exhaust.

second remap 236bhp with the exhaust.

shes getting a RR at the end of the month, i'm on the list at scn RR day (RS tuning -leeds, dyno dynamics) so i will see then.

Would be good if i got 220bhp though

yea it would.

is it a fase 2 or generic?

bit off topic.

so really the tip is not needed unless you get bigger turbo?

I'm sure I remember someone saying they got one of those TIPs off eBay and something broke as they were fitting. Can't remeber exactly but one of the fittings got pushed through or something.

Yeah it was Ethos, he got the THS Tip iirc.

Yep, that's right :)

It was the lower nipple for the vacuum pipe- pushed through. Used a jubilee clip on both side of the nipple in the end- can't get to it to check but I'm guessing it's still on there ok!!
