Fabia 1.9 SDi Classic: Removal of internal trim (to get at seatbelt mech).

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I have an issue with my driver's side seat belt not returning correctly. I need to take off the trim panel to have a look to see if there is anything obviously wrong with the mech. I've not yet had to remove any of the interior panels yet, any advice.. tips?

Thank you, in advance.

Phil.

If its like the octy, will just be clipped on. When removing take car not to damage the trim panel or clip. sounds like the spring inside the mechanism has become weak or is being fouled on something.

Is there a 'knack' when removing the trim panels. I'm not used to panels not having screws!!

Thanks.

Removed mine surrounding the seat belt and the knack is to use a long, thin flat bladed screwdriver and work your way round the edge and lever off the clips. Discovered that the plastic has quite a lot of flex in it so one you come across a clip, you can use a fair bit of force to lever it out. First one took me about 45 minutes to do, with much blood, sweat and swearing. Other side took me about 5 minutes ;)
