Things I like:-

Price

The fact that the website says it will support TomTom :)

Has bluetooth to support phones

Don't like:

No hard disk

What I'm not sure of:

Quality of unit in general (sound in particular and GPS reception)

I'm suspecting no-one has first or secondhand experience of these units or I'd have read it already here.

hmm if that will work with my maxidot display, then im sold love the support for USB devices, really miss that from my JCV head unit i had in my focus

on one of the threads a guy was in contact with an Australian importer (I'm sure it was for this unit). He was seeking clarification about the linking to maxidot.....fingers crossed.

The other thing would be nice for a Skoda logo - it's Windows CE based so would be easy for the vendor to update that in it's ROM.....

if its CE based, i reckon it'd be rather easy to do it as a DIY job

If it's CE based, then no amount of tinkering is going to make it as nice and integrated with the car as the OEM unit.

I wonder for example how it will handle doing navigation at the same time as playing music etc. once you install for example TomTom or Destinator (which I have to use since the only decent maps for Greece are Destinator only...)

Maybe it's just me and my dislike for anything Windows CE.

I guess the time taken getting thi thing to actually do all the stuff MFD3 does could be used elesewhere....like earning more cash to buy the proper thing.....

hmm I couldn't really care less about integrating with the maxidot - it would be nice. And I really don't want to play DVD's in the car. I have a 40" HD setup for that. I'd love a hard disk to stream music of but have an ipod and would be happy to link that up.

My phone is Windows mobile based - it does a grand job of running TomTom and making calls etc at the same time. I have a friend who also links it to his stereo with bluetooth FM - But I'd rather have dedicated audio hardware.

Performance all depends on the CPU in the unit (but you probably know that).

So MFD3 is something like £1500? I believe this unit is more like £300.

So, for the sake of (let's be kind and say) £1000 I'll make some compromises

So what is it actually you are after? If its audio performance then ditch that thing and get a double DIN facia converter and put something branded in.

Useful to check out the screenshots on that. Compare them agaist the RNS510 and to be honest, they 'look' a bit 'basic'.
